VN reading club - June 2015 (Yume Miru Kusuri)
Turnip Sensei replied to Kurisu-Chan's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I did the Mizuki route first too, mostly because I'm almost always drawn to the bigger, more mature girls. -
Confession: After watching Nodame Cantabile I started listening classical music while I'm grinding.

The Official Fuwa Anime Club: Voting and Summer Season Sign-Up

The only thing I miss in Paris Hen and Finale are the longer performances the first season has. I guess it's the benefit of the longer running time, but those few longer and more extensive concerts were amazing. They really sucked me into the music, unlike the shorter snippets in later ones. The music was still good, but it felt like they were just showing you small samples of classical music, rather than an actual performance. The same feeling isn't there. I really appreciate the time and care they put into the music in Nodame Cantabile. -
Woah, that was fast. I'm still slowly making my way through it.

Oh. Well whatever, result was the same. I was more surprised than bothered by the lack of romance. I expected more of it, but I was fine with the little we got. It was nice to see the subtle advancements in their relationship, I liked their slow and slightly awkward progression. There's more romance in the sequels/following seasons, but at least the Paris Hen doesn't quite have the same amazing feeling as the first season. I still have to watch the Finale though. -
I love thunderstorms. The howling of the wind, the scent of rain, the intense drumming of heavy downpour, the foreboding sound of approaching thunder... There's something magnificent in thunderstorms. And it looks like a big storm is coming here soon, that's why I'm so exited.

We told you it was that good, didn't we? The same happened to me, after I got into it I couldn't stop watching. Nodame is one the most well done anime I've seen, it has really good balance between the comedy, dramatic events and music. And it's nice too see that music anime actually takes music seriously, and not just use it as a setting. I can't say I'm a huge fan of classical music, but after all the passion they show for it and quality of the music itself I really liked it. Especially the concerts managed to capture the feeling of enjoying music so well. At times I wanted to close my eyes just go with the music, something that doesn't happen very often. -
Now I kinda want to challenge this, there's no way we will get too depressed! (Totally baseless confidence, when we watched Garden of Words we had to take a small emotional break afterwards) And even if we do, I have healing shows like Amagami in store.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Now I got some new interesting shows for our watching list, the following ones especially. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Shinsekai Yori Hell Girl Another Gunbuster

I have really fond memories of DxD, maybe we should watch it. The cheesy English voice acting of the first one is the best thing. It's the only anime dub I've ever liked. (Finnish dubs of Miyazaki movies I watched when I was young don't count)

Anime Charas that share your birthday~~
Turnip Sensei replied to Monmon's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
I guess this means I have to watch Gekkan Shoujo Nozoki-kun now. -
Nah, that's pretty normal. It's much more awkward to watch an unexpected rape scene while eating mango ice cream. Trust me.

Someone from Persona 3!? You lucky bastard have the same birthday as Aigis! I don't recognize anyone from March 27th... -
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
Turnip Sensei replied to AnthranDawn's topic in Gaming Talk
I really need to finish Trails in the Sky FC right now. I'm pretty exited for this and happy because it's for vita. Falcom games are all awesome, though Ys is still my favorite and XSeed is doing good job bringing them over. And looking at what they've done, I believe we will see the other Trails games translated as well. -
It's nice to see people recommending shows I would never think of by myself. Terror in Resonance and Nagi no Asukara are good stuff, but I've seen them already. And I need to corrupt my fried to VNs before watching ufotable F/SN. And yeah, 12-26 is probably the optimal length, that can be watched in reasonable time. The interesting ones are Toaru Railgun and Another. Kuroko no Basket too I guess, we joked about watching that at some point. Keep the recommendations coming, young unemployed students have lots of free time during summer.

Blah, I will never watch any bloated Shounen shows, never. But Katanagatari was something I was also considering myself. @Getsuya I don't mind shows with long story arcs, my young mind can still handle those. Hell girl looks promising, thanks for that.

So I'm having a anime marathon with my friend this summer and I want some suggestion for shows that benefit greatly from watching them in one go. No other requirements, so every genre goes, we don't shy from anything. Here's some examples of what we have watched previously Bakemonogatari Baccano Kara no Kyoukai Madoka Magica Mushishi White Album 2

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Turnip Sensei replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
My limited edition Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy just arrived. The box itself is so pretty, it's also the first "weeaboo" stuff I have in my room. And the art book... *drools* The dungeon crawling part seems pretty solid as well, haven't played that much yet. The only thing that bugs me is the lack of Japanese voices. -
Yosh! My pleas for horror were heard, I'm looking forward to playing this. Time to enjoy the suffering brought by terror. For those who have played F.E.A.R, how scary is this game?

VG Club: LoZ- Ocarina of Time Discussion
Turnip Sensei replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
I tried Oot once when my dad had Wii for testing something, I liked it but never got around playing it after that. Time to fix the gaping hole in my video game knowledge. -
I just finished Narcissu and Narcissu Side 2nd. It was just the sad and really beautiful story I wanted to read. You know it's going to be serious when they start the story with suicide statistics. Narcissu was quite the beautiful ride, I liked the tranquil atmosphere and the excellent background music. In Narcissu Side 2nd the more prevalent dialog bothered me at first, I was expecting the same kind of sorrowful and thoughtful atmosphere as in Narcissu. But I grew to like slightly different, more longing atmosphere of the sequel and now I really appreciate it. It was different experience from the first one, but great none the less.

Yup, an almost perfect clone. Except no one has touched my hair on the streets, because around here you are not supposed to pay any attention to other people, just to avoid them carefully. But some of the girls from my class did like to touch my hair, so...

I heard once from my female classmates that they were slightly jealous of naturally curly hair and nice eyelashes. It felt really weird and kind encouraging at the same time.

Chaos;Head has a protagonist who is pretty close to being insane and it has some mystery elements. You could try that one.
