I'm trying to balance my reading between totono and Comyu, which works pretty well. Reading totono is obviously way slower, but at the same time it's much more chill and I don't feel as burned out after reading for few hours. It took me so long to beat the part I think is prologue in totono, though I got the kind of bad end in it first. My in game clock says 20 hrs, but it has been running on the background, so maybe little over 10 hrs.

The Decline of Reading in Relation to VNs
Turnip Sensei replied to Heizei_koukousei's topic in Visual Novel Talk
That study was actually pretty interesting and also pretty depressing. Especially the part about people who don't read not taking part in other cultural activities. I guess the gap between normal riffraff and cultural elites like us is growing wider. Also necessary self praise for being from the country whose youth have the best reading skills in the world. The decline in reading is most likely the result of other readily available entertainment mediums. Why read books when you can read comics, watch Tv or do something that doesn't really require that much attention? I actually haven't read that many books in a while, mostly because I have been reading visual novels, playing games and such. It's really hard to find interesting books to read nowadays, most of the western stuff doesn't seem that interesting anymore. The only actual books I looking forward to reading are the Witcher ones, though I still read some other books very rarely. Oh, back to Visual novels. I think there is plenty of audience out there, despite the general amount of readers diminishing, we haven't just reached them yet. VNs are also pretty new medium in west considering so it's no wonder it's pretty unknown. The recognition has been growing rapidly in recent years and the release of bigger officially translated titles in popular platforms is sure to bring even more attention and more fans. Especially the titles released in Steam are going to get attention no matter what and hopefully change the general attitude to more positive one. The reputation of being only porn games is hurting. But I believe that visual novels will grow steadily much like every other medium has. We will still probably be pretty niche but that's fine as well. -
I'm this way too, people think I'm super emotionless and indifferent, while I actually cry all the time for touching stories and get super invested in them.

I always feels frustrated with shows to try to bring up side heroines that obviously have no chance. It just feels like they made a character for the sole purpose of creating friction between the main couple, and usually as a result, it feels like they wasted the character. This coupled with the fact that usually the main heroine is the most boring one or has awful personality, which is forgiven solely because she's the main heroine, makes these shows a pain to watch. And usually the side characters have more interesting character quirks to them, so most of the time I end up rooting them in vain. This is why don't watch that many harem shows anymore.

Maybe, but I was fine with it. If we play different stuff then short games are good once in a while to get a breather. But then again, the discussion ended in few days, so maybe something longer could be better.

Small Annoying Things That Happen Everyday
Turnip Sensei replied to Shikomizue's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
1. There's nothing good in fridge 2. Spilling tea on the floor because I put too much tea in my cup 3. Going to the WC in the middle of the night and worrying if others wake up when I flush. -

I just started reading Comyu and had great time until Kagome appeared. Her character is one of the only character types I really hate. Clingy, selfish, violent and abusive for no reason and worst of all she seems like main heroine. Haaa... Well, I'll bear with it, since otherwise it seems really interesting and the really overblown stuff is enjoyable.

I really love tearjerkers, the empty feeling after crying so much is something else. I also cry very easily, so name anything really touching and I've probable at least shed a few tears for it. The one thing that has made the biggest sobbing mess was actually Guilty Crown, I felt empty the next morning as well. Also go watch anything by Makoto Shinkai and be ready for crying a lake of tears. That man is a genius, his stories are unbelievable beautiful. 5 cm/second, Voices of a Distant Star, Place Promised on our Early Days, Garden of Words... I don't think I've ever cried so much.

I have also a history of hate with mosquitoes, since in top of all mosquitoes being attracted to me I'm also slightly allergic to them. Every bite swells up to the size of the nail of my little finger. The days spent on summer cottage were sometimes nightmarish, since the summers here are full of mosquitoes.

I read totono for quite a while today and I've been having tons of fun. I found myself laughing out loud more than normally, even though the humor was just normal. Reading stuff in other language makes it completely different experience. The slow pace isn't bothering me at all anymore. I'm having hard time with some of the lines from Aoi, since the meaning of the words are sometimes kinda hard to understand when they written only in katakana. It doesn't help that I'm pretty bad with katakana in general.

The amount of space vita takes for system data is about 400 MB in my system, so the updates can't be that big.

What Video Games Are You Playing Right Now?
Turnip Sensei replied to solidbatman's topic in Gaming Talk
I played some PixelJunk Shooter with my little brother. I just randomly picked it from my countless humble bundle games because it had co-op, but it's actually pretty fun game. The puzzle and shooting elements are simple but solid, and it's great for playing around. Most of the fun came from trying to use the environment to kill each other in order to snatch all the collectibles. I don't consider myself very good older brother, but from time to time it's nice to play with him because he's always super exited about it. When he's old enough I'm definitely going to corrupt him with visual novels. -
I started my adventure to the world of untranslated VNs. I went with Totono because of all talk I heard about it, but also because I had some previous interest in it, since it's a nitroplus game. The first two hours were super slow, but after I got used to reading and using the text hooker, it became much more enjoyable. It's still clumsy and sometimes there are sentences I can't understand at all, but I can see the charm. I'm also really bad at memorizing stuff consciously, so forcing myself to read and memorizing kanjis in context helps a lot in my studies.

How do you read VNs (Stolen from reddit)
Turnip Sensei replied to solidbatman's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Not even close, I'm from northern Europe. I just like to curl up in small spaces in, it feels comfy. Also my chair is so bad that I need to sit in creative positions. I would kill my back if I tried to sit straight the whole day. -
Always the game's own music, it somehow feels really weird listening to something else. Exception is when I play dota with friends, then we have plug.dj open and I use it to force J-pop and anime music on my friends.

More stuff for vita, this time Ar nosurge Plus: Ode to an Unborn Star. I have no experience with the series, but it looks like something I'll be picking up. http://www.siliconera.com/2015/05/06/ar-nosurge-plus-ode-unborn-star-coming-westward-july/ But got to love Gust and Tecmo for porting the enhanced versions of games for vita. -

But courageous individual you are. I've only read erotic fanfic and echi LNs at school and that was intense enough.
