  1. At the beginning of my journey through VN world I was re-reading a lot (and also I was not skipping any text I already read, so reading common route couple of times). Nowadays however I would rather pick something new than spend time reading something once more. Number of worthwile english translation is still bit limited so theoretically you could run out of stuff to read, but in japanese I found out that I'm adding titles to my "to read" list much more often than I'm actually finishing them, so I wont run out anytime soon

For everyone wanting to try this game - make sure to change voices to japanese. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=788439931 English dubbing is meh at best, and in story mode it's just a pure garbage (sometimes characters don't even talk about the same things that they do in orginal japanese version).
  3. Well, to be honest I could point out couple of good things about this VN... Opening song was really nice (I'm not sure if it wasn't unlocked only after completing Kohaku route) and I listen to if from time to time to this day. Some of CGs, especially with Kohaku, were cute (the one with valentine heart was great). Also for some reason I really liked Shizuku first ero scene If only she wasn't so annoying most of the time... Still this doesn't change the fact that there was too much talking about sex (was it? :/) and plot of every route was really bad. I tried to to go through my notes to look what was my opinion immediately after finishing it, but I really have no idea when I read this and can't find it :/ Can't be helped, let's hope my initial score was similiar to the current one ;p
  4. You really want know others opinion and don't expect to get only 'it was great, wasn't it?'? I hope so... It's not like I've read a lot of VNs, but still Shinigami no Kiss wa Wakare no Aji is almost on the very bottom of my personal score. It's been a while since I read this so my memory isn't fresh, but it was really bad. I only liked first part of Kohaku route. Shizuku was the most unlikable imouto-type I encountered to this day, either talking trash about prot or trying to have sex with him. Hinoka was so bland and boring that I forgot basicly all about her. Kohaku was ok while not in romance part of her route. Also I'm not sure if I'm not exaggerating but I remember that in each route after first ero scene almost all conversations were about sex. It's not like this VN have a lot of ero scenes (was it 3 per heroine?) but it felt that sex was really the main topic. Of course let's not forget about crappy drama parts that were really bad even for charage standards. So here you go. Probably not what you wanted but here is my opinion on Shinigami no Kiss wa Wakare no Aji ^^
  5. Still reading Coμ. It seems I'm close to the finish of Benio route. Compared to common part I found it more interesting, but I have that one strange feeling... I feel like I'm playing a computer RPG and I'm picking quests from random NPCs, so much random and disconnected events seems to be. Sure, there is a major plotline that all those small events are eventually connected to, but still that strange feeling don't disappear
  6. So, standard question - how difficult to read is it (compared to average charage)?
  7. Started reading Coμ. I already finished common route and started Benio route. It's... OK-ish I guess. Setting is OK, some of characters are interesting (but almost no one is likeable). Common route didn't have much plot, what is quite disappointing considering the fact, that I picked this VN to read some interesting plot (as a break from a charage). I really hope I get some of that in Benio route, because I'm already rather bored and don't have much motivation to keep reading...
  8. It's the cat all the time. I don't remember how it was in anime, but in VN it's quite clear that >original Shima's< cat has been changed into human to grant the wish of >original Shima< to repay Misae for her kindness. So Misae fell in love with a cat ;P
  9. I would say Clannad if you want some romance, and Rewrite if you want some plot. If you want some laugh then anything should work. And Planetarian is short so you can read that anyway. (I didn't read Angel Beats yet)
  10. I once read manga series where EVERY nose looked this way. If I survived that then one CG is nothing
  11. Well, I finished Hoshizora no Memoria: Eternal Heart over a week ago, so I guess I should finally write come kind of opinion about it... I often read on this forum, that the bonus disc is where we can finally find a proper Mare route. Well, if bunch of random ichaicha and ero scenes without any plot, which is just a lengthen version of orginal Mare 'route' can be called a 'proper' route that is... But but, someone could say, what about Ima. There is a good bunch of plot about her in Mare route! And I would answer, yes, you are right, but I wanted Mare route, not Ima route with misplaced route selection grafics. Ima plot have almost nothing to do with Mare or protagonist, and even if I would liked it (but I didn't) I wouldn't be satisfied. Also I realised one thing - Mare is just not a character, with whom romance do work :/ It's just awkward when in one scene you see MC patting Mare head treating her like a child, and next scene having sex with her :/ I just can't see her as a romance target. She work much better as a support little sister character (that she is in every other route). In bonus disc we have also Yume route, and at least this time it really feels like a proper route. I did liked that instead of continuing school life we see time after graduation, including While this route wasn't anything great (especially part with meteorite searching was quite bad) at least it had plot that moved forward characters relations, what can't be said about Mare 'route' That's all if we talking about routes, but there are also very short 'afterstory' bonus (1-2 hours of reading) for every other heroine. They are mostly meh, but personally I liked Asuho and Komomo bonuses (which was rather unexpected, since in original game I liked Asuho route the least). After some thought I think it's because those two bonuses pushes relationship forward at least a little bit, while the others are just repeating the final point of original routes. At the end while it wasn't terrible or anything, it isn't really worth reading for anyone but the biggest Hoshimemo fans. If you want more Yume then you could read this, if you want more Mare then just get new CGs (there are not that many) and reread common route of original game.
  12. I just don't write if I don't have something valuable to say, I most of the time I don't ;p Thanks though ^^
  13. Going to start reading Chaos; Head. I tried it once already, but lost interest after ~15 hours in so this is the second try. There is one question though: What the hell should I do with delusional triggers :/ What I mean by that... If I choose red (bad) trigger, then following scene is usually so brutal / bloody / mad it is just silly and completly destroys the mood. If I choose green (good) trigger, then folowing scene is so moe / icha-icha/ fenservice it is just silly and completly destroys the mood. If I don't choose anything then following scene is... well normal, but then I have the feeling that I'm missing part of the game and it completly destroys the mood So, what should I do? I have no interested in B ending (too much of a hassle). I just want have good read and not be thrown off by weird or stupid scenes...
  14. There is a fix for that, works for me: http://www.mediafire.com/download/qai2bden95yol6l/ith3-w10fix_v2.7z Got that link from topic: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/8239-how-to-install-and-run-untranslated-visual-novel-text-hooking-tools/
  15. Started reading Hoshizora no Memoria -Eternal Heart-. I decided there is no point in waiting for translation, especially because I don't really need it anymore. Seriously, it's so easy to read it's refreshing ^.^ The very beginning was a bit awkward since you are thrown in without any prologue or introduction (for one reading this immediately after Hoshimemo this would probably not be an issue, but I finished it about 3 years ago...). Now however I'm back in. Mare is as adorable as I remember, and Asuho as annoying as always. Old good times ^.^ I hope it will be a good read :]
  16. I have been reading Yappari Imouto ga Suki! for last couple of weeks (hour here, 30 minutes there...) skipping all ero scenes so I could proudly say 'here am I, reading nukiges for plot :p'... Unfortunately I failed - I simply gave up. It's so immensely boring and repetitive it's just ridiculous. At the beginning there were some humor scenes but now, third week in, it feels there are mostly two types of scenes - those which focus on sex, and those whish focus on talking about sex. It's a shame, because I really like that loud, moody tsundere that Rika is, but I really feel that I'm wasting time trying to finish this VN. So maybe eventually some plot is introduced and it becomes more of romance (rather just series of ero scenes), but I won't ever know. I'm not patient enough to find out...
  17. I started playing Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword and combat is really a lot like in Kamidori. Unfortunately it seems its only linear series of combats and nothing else which disappointed me a bit. Also there is character perma death which I hate - it will just make me save-scumming a lot, because there is no way I will let anyone die. So while this game feels nice and I may play i a bit it's not exactly the thing I wanted and could try one of other titles you suggested.
  18. It's probably not really the right place for that kind of recommendation request, since I'm don't really care about VN side of the game, but there is no recommendation thread in gaming section so here it goes. So, as the title says I'm looking for something with gameplay similar to Kamidori. It must be in english (or at least have translated interface and hookable rest of texts). VN elements doesn't matter and and don't care about ero. Is there something like this?
  19. I managed to get back my two posts I made, that were lost during forum data loss. Thanks gods for firefox history ^^ Since I don't write very often I don't want effort of writing those posts go to waste so I will post them once more ^^ -------------------------- After about 9 months of struggle I finally managed to finish the last route of Astralair no Shiroki Towa. If I would summarize it in one word it would be: disappointment. However it could be it was a bit of my fault of having too big expectation. I stared reading it not long after finishing Irotoridori no Sekai and Irotoridori no Hikari. While those VNs are not perfect and some routes are rather meh, the true, Shinku route have superb quality considering all of: plot, characters and overall emotion, and is definitely one of my best experiences considering visual novels up to this time. Thus starting Astralair I was expecting something of similar quality. Unfortunately at the time I didn't know, that the plot for Astralair was not whiten by the same person that made Iroseka and Irohika, but the person involved in making Hoshizora no Memoria... And you can feel that a lot. Everything that people say about Hoshimemo can be also said about Astralair: generally enjoyable characters and mostly uninteresting plot. Well, it's not all true. Astralair is worse... Three of kids are really enjoyable to interact with, girls are funny to talk to (as long it's not romance part of their plot, when every one of them annoyed me at some degree), but protagonist and 'true heroine' Yuuki are really bland and uninteresting. Riku is typical 'hero just like you' with no personality, and Yuuki is just lolicon bait, being childish, kind and cute, but the same as prot having no personality. Because of that true route was even more disappointing. Close to the end there were many teary or dramatic scenes, but I couldn't feel them since I really didn't care about Riku and Yuuki and their flat romance... I said Astralair have, similarly to Hoshimemo, uninteresting plot. However in Hoshimemo it wasn't that much of a problem, because there was not much plot there anyway. Astralair though is quite plot-heavy, and because of that this weakness in much more visible.Every time I thought I got a bit interested some stupid cliche happend, because everything MUST have sickeningly happy ending, and I was pulled back to the ground. Also repetition - almost every route drama comes basically from the same place - lack of communication between family members are bad. Exactly that. Almost every time the problem arises, it's because people thought it is better to keep everything to themself and run thoughts wildly, rather than sit and talk a bit. I know that this kind of problems exist in RL, but please, not every freaking route and subroute! Well, it's time to wrap it up. Is that bad VN? No, most of characters are still enjoyable, visuals are as always really nice, and soundtrack also have some very pleasant pieces. If you read Hoshimemo and liked it you will probably like Astralair at similar level. However, after great Irohika and Iroseka this VN is just a disappointment... 7/10. ----------------------------- Finally freed from Astralair I could move to other VNs. For now I wanted to wash myself from all crappy drama and cheesy happy endings so I finished Tenkiame. It's definitely a moege, even though there are quite large number of ero scenes (21 for 2 heroines). It's also quite short, so those scenes are like every 30 minutes of reading, but still I wouldn't call it nukige, because you could cut out 90% of ero and one wouldn't even notice. There is almost no plot, and absolutely no drama. It is full of slow, calm mood however. It really feels like you are on countryside vacation. Visuals are ok I guess. Heroines have nice design, and there are animated sprites. Unfortunately there are only a few poses and animations, and lip sync is dreadfully bad, so after good first impressions I was a bit disappointed after all. Also grandma seiyu is really bad - it sounds like young woman tries to sound old (and it's probably the case). Music is really nice though. After all it's just a moege. Still, if you are tired after busy work day then it's not that bad to have some rest with Shiro and Kon
  20. Hapymaher is a little bit prosy. I had quite some difficulty reading it when I tried reading it last year. I have it rated as Moderate for vocabulary and a Moderate+ for prose. Where as the stuff you mentioned might be in the Novice or Novice+/Moderate- range. Well, it seems i have to give up on reading this for now then. I thought my reading skills are somewhat OK-ish, but really, it's still way to go...
  21. Small question (if anyone is able to help me...) How difficult Hapymaher is (compared to Irotoridori no Sekai / Astralair / Little Busters / Ichiban janakya dame desu ka [stuff I already read in japanese]). I'm asking this because I started reading Hapymaher, but found it quite troublesome to understand in some parts. I'm wondering if that's just my rusty skills, of that VN is just more difficult...
  22. Astralair. Finally finished Korona route. Well, route itself was OK-ish. Some somewhat reasonable plot, a bit of romance, nice closure. But the epilogue? The hell was that? Did the writer realised that there was not enough shitness in that route compared to others and decided to throw a huge pile of dung at least to the epilogue? Just...
  23. Started Tenkiame (AstralAir is on hold for now...). I guess it's quite nice for a (practically) moege. Similar to Nekopara it also have animated sprites, and I don't really like them in Tenkiame, just like I didn't liked them in Nekopara. Especially lip sync is just dreadful (maybe I should call it 'lip desync' ). Still, visuals are ok overall, and music adds quite a lot to the calm mood, which is main value of this VN.
  24. OK, of which route that adaptation will be? Because there is no way you can merge all routes into one anime without making total mess from the plot. If there will be only one route shown then it could be somewhat OK, other way it probably be absolute garbage.
