I think the other thing was, at the time of the Kickstarter, an open console that anyone could make a game for was a really attractive idea. However, by the time it came out PSN, XBLA, Steam Greenlight and all the other indie platforms had really opened their doors so the OUYA never really had a corner on the indie market like people thought it would.

No big exclusives and it's competing with handheld mobile devices that play all the same games but portable. It'd be like a company trying to base their financial success off the Vita TV. Except even worse than that because most people already own a device, like a phone or tablet, that plays Android games. Android games have always been optimized for short, portable play and aren't really suited for sitting down and playing on the big screen when you could just buy a normal console and play new, exclusive home console games on that instead. OUYA was pretty great for emulators... in fact I think a lot of people made the joke that OUYA should just advertise itself as an emulator machine since tons of people just used it for that.

999 and VLR Secret Game: Killer Queen wasn't very romance-esque, though I played the all-ages PSP version so I don't know about the original one. Symphonic Rain might also be up your alley. I'm not sure I'd call anything that happens in it romance...

Still plugging away at &. It's definitely a completely different feeling from the amazing pace and setting of Eustia. I really hope the actual plot gets started, because they're dragging the pre-actual-plot plot out to ridiculous levels of padding. It doesn't help that the game heavily foreshadows things, then has them happen, then spends time looking back at what happened. 'Hey, there's a rumor that X thing might happen' 'X thing happens' 'I wonder if it was X thing that happened. Let's check it out' 'Yes, it appears that indeed X thing happened. Let's consider the consequences of X thing happening' Sprinkle in a bunch of 'man, I remember the time when we did that thing as kids that I've been talking about for all 4 hours of this game's plot so far... yeah that was a good time... maybe I'll tell you about it again using slightly different words' and 'man I'm really lonely' and you've pretty much got the entire first quarter of the game. It's kind of depressing with all the rave reviews I've heard of Rui ha Tomo wo Yobu that their follow-up to it was something as bland as this. Fingers crossed that it gets crazy once it cuts loose.

That game was my introduction to rougelikes before I even knew what a rougelike was.

This. There's plenty of sex even in all-ages games, it just doesn't have to happen on screen with all the moaning and fluid explosions. But I also agree that just slicing stuff out with nothing to replace it is not the solution. Sadly the companies tend to be very lazy about this. In most all-ages ports they just write up a clumsy bridge scene to skip over the parts where the porn was and in a lot of them they don't even bother to voice those scenes because they were so hastily prepared. In a perfect world the all-ages version would have all-new content and more story depth to make up for the fact that it is missing the porn. Alas, for now we must simply settle for the neutering approach.

Oh yeah I'm not opposed to using sex and eroticism to make a point or tell a story. What I'm opposed to is sex and eroticism being put into every VN like it's mandatory instead of only when it's being used directly to help tell the story.

I guess the first question is who did the Ryusei route and who did the Kyosuke route? I guess since we have a whole month we could do both routes. I started with Kyosuke. I'm up to about mission 13 I do love the weapon and pilot swapping system. Though you can't trade signature weapons, you can arm the grunt units up enough to keep them relevant, plus you can mix and match pilots and mechs to see how new combinations turn out. I just wish there was a way to see which 'spells' everyone was going to learn, since those are more important than stats for who you put where. Almost all my characters now are assigned to mechs according to what spells they can cast. Gifs coming soon. Lots of animated attack gifs. Let's party.

I picked that despite not knowing what it was from because the art was just amazing. I love the character design for this and I'll probably pick up the game unless it's a flop. My biggest regret is that they didn't include the best character in the franchise: Akari Amari. Self-proclaimed zombie hunter, lover of horror movies, and stitcher of horror-themed stuffed animals. Well, there's like 100 girls in the franchise so I guess they obviously couldn't include all of them, and I do like a lot of the 8 girls they chose for the VN. I dunno. I'm looking forward to it, even if only because the art is amazing. Edit: Also. Vita exclusive? Vita exclusive.

Oh absolutely, I just wish we got more time with all the cute animal girls in the other bands. I absolutely love the ending theme though, or at least the video for it. The 3D animation for the show is just spot-on. I've never really thought of anything 3D-animated as being 'adorable' since 3D animation tends to give it a kind of polygonal plastic look, but the 3D chibi animals from this are absolutely 100% adorable. I don't know how Sanrio did it but they really aced the 3D in this show. I'm kind of curious about Jewelpet Change, but I want to go back and watch the other Jewelpet shows first before I try to dive into the newest one.

Of the hunting games I thought Soul Sacrifice Delta was the best. The story is pretty decent and atmospheric and honestly the crazy amount of magic they give you to play around with trounces the normal 'use this weapon until you get enough parts to make a better version of the same weapon'

Next game should be based on Secret Game: Killer Queen. It's not quite as good as Dangan Ronpa/Umineko/VLR/999 but I think it has the best Death Game set up out of any of them.

Just watched episode 3 of Show By Rock. I... I think they played the opening of Eye of the Tiger before their song. Weird. I don't know if I'm going to like the 'band of the week' set-up in the long run. Seems like there isn't enough time to get to know all these characters they're throwing at us.
