Vita has a ton of VNs on it. So you can play awesome VNs wherever you are on a nice portable screen. Someday they should release an all-VN system just for reading VNs portably, but until that day, we have the Vita.

Oh, good, now I don't have to worry about buying a PS4.

The Alpha series and MX have the original Evangelion and the original movies. L for the DS and the later Z games have the new Evangelion reboot movies. MX and Alpha are both very good starting points in SRW. MX is a stand-alone title with a lot of stuff that wasn't in other games (and less emphasis on Gundam, which all the other games have). Alpha is the start of a series of 4 games that determined a large chunk of the 'canon' for the SRW universe. While playing OG you'll run into tons of Alpha stuff (along with a bunch of Impact stuff, but we don't talk about Impact). Also Alpha goes through the whole Evangelion story, including the anime and original movies. If you're a fan of the new Eva stuff you can start from Z-2. Z-2 and Z-3 cover the plots of the three remake movies.

Symphonic Rain. It's a rhythm game too so it's not all just reading. Easier to ease people into the genre with. And it's 100% no H.

Unit upgrading doesn't really change throughout the series and if you follow the golden rule of: you should be fine (spoilered in case people want to suss out the best ways to upgrade for themselves) However, this is my first time dealing with pilot upgrades, since the older games that I played didn't allow you to customize pilots. You really have to think hard about what each character's 'job' is going to be and build them accordingly. Also, the whole weapon-swapping thing is completely new. Since other SRW games involve mechs from anime usually they'll only have the canonical weapons from their anime equipped, but since OG is all original units they can trade weapons and stuff and equip upgraded weapons. That really blew my mind, and it makes it so you can keep the 'grunt' units relevant.

Tried Limbo. Hated it. Back to SRW:OG.

I can't stop playing SRW:OG! I was worried it was going to be like SRW A, one of the other GBA games, but it's so much more smooth and straightforward (not to mention it's much easier reading through the plot in English.) I may just marathon the whole game in a single day! Someone stop me!

Sorry Kosa-nii-san. Don't worry, we'll be together again when the gate opens.

But... is it really freedom we're running toward? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hVer2xTs7Y

No limits this time? We just get as far as we can by May 1st? Edit: Just a quick tip for those starting up SRW:OG: You can see the Battle Mastery requirements for a mission by going to the pause menu (select any square with no one on it) and selecting 'Mission' then pressing over.

Here. Just... here. Hopefully no one has posted these before. I want this to be everyone's first time. Shh. Shh. Just watch it.

I think I'll end up playing all the GBA games anyway regardless of which gets picked. I think SRW:OG is the one the least of us has played though (including me... I've played others in the series but not OG specifically)

Denden Town has most of the shops of Akiba with 1/100th the crowd. Trying to browse in Akiba is insane, you can never stop the eternal flow of people through the tiny narrow shops so you're always being pushed forward and around. I agree there's more lively culture in Akiba and lots more stuff to see, but for an actual shopping trip and having the joy of just browsing in a nerdy shop with time to stop and look at all the crazy stuff being sold and hunting for great deals and stuff Denden wins hands-down. I'm sure my opinion would change if I knew the layout of Akiba better and if I went during a time when it wasn't quite as crowded. Maybe my trip with Ren will change my mind.

What is the cutest image you have ever seen? (including girls ;))
Getsuya replied to Steve's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
Fairy Musketeer Akazukin will always have the most adorable images forever. Here have the adorable ending theme by Marhy to go with them: -
We may have broken this game... I think at this point it's going to be really obvious whenever the MS is used. Poor Cat can't get his despair high like this!

While I don't really agree with your instructor's opinion, I'd say it's never a good idea to do things your instructor tells you not to. It's not healthy for your grade.

Seems simple enough to make an education VN. Step 1. Pick a subject you want it to be educational about. It could literally be any subject under the sun. Pick something you yourself are knowledgeable about. For example if you are into history and know a lot about the American Civil War, pick that as the subject. Step 2. Your main character knows nothing about the subject but he falls in love at first sight with a girl who is obsessed with the subject. Step 3. In an attempt to woo the girl the main character begins to study the subject and go out on dates with the girl where they either visit sites related to the subject or have conversations about the subject. Step 4. Instead of `what should I do now` choices, make all the choices quizzes related to the subject matter. If the guy gets them wrong the girl won`t like him, but if he gets them right all the time the girl will know he has truly accepted that subject into his soul and will love him. Step 5. The two get married and their wedding ceremony is related to the theme.

Ahhh, okay. Now it makes sense. I was getting the two companies confused with each other. They should just release Island Days instead
-
So the same company saying members of the team were going to quit if it went through uncensored is now also going to `secretly` release an un-official patch? I will admit, yes, I am confused by this.
-
I`m firmly in the `why even release it` camp. Were people really clamoring for this game? Enough that a company would consider releasing it even with people threatening to quit? Sounds more like the Japanese developer saw the sales of School Days and put pressure on Sekai to put it out no matter what. That`s the only situation where I can imagine Sekai saying `We don`t care if people patch it` openly like this. And all this is why I`m a huge all-ages fan. I wish all the VNs with stories would be released as all-ages right from the get-go so there would never be any censoring needed. If people want porn they should buy porn, and if they don`t want porn they shouldn`t be forced between paying for and supporting porn and getting good stories they want to read.

Confession: So remember that party I went to where I was confessing about wanting to get drunk because I don't like my coworkers? Well there is one coworker I really like and I spent most of the party chatting with him. ... yesterday the police came by our workplace and told us he'd been caught driving drunk. Anyone who knows the drunk driving laws in Japan is wincing as they read this. Yeah. They came around asking questions and taking statements like it was a murder investigation. They're going to put the poor guy's name in the papers and maybe even on the news on TV. He's also not my coworker anymore. Driving drunk in Japan is social suicide. If you get caught you may as well move because your life in that community is over. They're so strict here that you can get arrested even if you weren't actually driving, but say after drinking with you one of your buddies drove off. If you didn't stop them you could be charged as an accomplice basically. So drunk driving not only screws up your life, but there's a possibility it could screw a few of your friends too. We're worried now that the papers are going to print who he was at the party with and it'll ruin the reputation of my workplace as well. TL;DR DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE IN JAPAN

That'll happen around the same time as people in general become okay with the concept of lolicon, which I don't foresee happening anytime soon. The problem is anyone (especially companies) who stands up and says 'no we want this game to be uncensored' will be labeled as pedophiles by anyone outside the VN/anime community that gets wind of it because your average joe does no differentiate between loving animated children and loving real children. I always assumed no one in the US would release the School Days sequels because of the very in-your-face lolicon content, and when I saw that they were I thought 'oh well they're going to take out the Kokoro scenes then' and I was right. At the same time I admire people who stick to their guns about no censorship and I wish you the best of luck in your fight. Maybe someday people won't be so uptight about things that happen to animated characters who don't exist.
-
I'm sure what they mean is that they're taking out the sex scenes with Kokoro because there is no way, shape or form for them to try and pass that off as anything else than having sex with a minor who isn't 100% into it. So, yeah I can imagine the translators getting huffy and saying 'Nah I don't really want to put my name on a game where you rape a kid and the game plays it off as comedic'
