Finished the next "part" in Higurashi Sui. They completely ignored the whole Question/Answer Arcs deal and made their own structure, can be quite a mess at first, haha. But it does make sense given the crazy amount of new arcs they have, and I really like the way that each "part" the story is split into actually has a prologue and an epilogue set far into the future from the perspective of the detectives trying to solve the mystery. The first part is from Ooishi's point of view, second part is from Akasaka's, and the third... well, let's just say there are some new characters even way further in the future that are surprisingly badass. Entering the third part of the story, I've also unlocked the third OP, and it's so awesome! There aren't really any spoilers in there, but it shows a lot of the new characters that weren't in the original. Speaking of the main characters, I'm really liking them. The two arcs focusing on completely new characters (save for Akasaka and Ooishi) were my favourite new arcs so far. Being completely removed from the original setting and characters for the most part, it allows them to do some crazy things while still managing to tie everything together nicely and even provide new hints to the overall plot for the slow story progression. Kageboushi was especially entertaining, being the answer arc to Someutsushi (the arc based on the manga only Onisarashi). Most of this arc was told from the side of the detectives, and the change of scale was a rrefreshing change from the usual isolated-case feeling. It was so refreshing that I'm almost not looking forward to reading Tsumihoroboshi now, but... hey, got to get into that old original plot again! Overall Sui is great so far, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone with little patience. To say Sui is long would be the understatement of the century...

Finished Hatsuyuku Sakura. I wasn't expecting much from it, but I was pretty impressed in the end. What acts like a moege tries its best to push its way into the utsuge territory, and while it does fall back onto nakige (and its magical twists) in some parts, the majority of the endings actually end on a pleasantly bittersweet note. It actually tackles its darker themes more responsibly than I expected it to at first, and for that the writer has my respect. What I can't praise is the author's tendency to write twists just for the sake of having twists at places (there are a few random ones) and his habit of outright skipping fight scenes altogether (why even have them in, then?), but those are my only complaints about the writing. Not much to say about the art, but the OST is easily the highlight of this VN - it quickly made its spot amongst my favourites. All in all, a very enjoyable 8/10 from me, definitely give it a read if you're looking for some feels with entertaining comedy and interesting plot. Other than that, I've slowly resumed Sui (finally!), and I'm making my way through Meakashi. I think I'm around the last third, but damn this arc is long! More and more of dai's goodness is sneaking its way into the OST, and Ryukishi's hilarious writing is reaching a legendary status in my head. It feels hilarious and endearing in a different language, but I do have to wonder how I would feel about reading something like this in my native language. At the very least, I can definitely see why some people hate it. Anyway, now that I'm done with HatsuSaku, I might get back to re-reading Kara no Shoujo and then finally jump on that sequel... or maybe go back and read Cartagra first.

Slowly going through HatsuSaku, now done with the first route, Azuma's and Aya's. The VN is pretty good so far - the OST in particular is awesome, though the writing is kind of iffy in places. A solid 7/10 for now, we'll see if it will get significantly better later on, though it honestly doesn't need to. Might resume my KnS re-read soon, since Shirokuma doesn't interest me as a heroine at all. Might take a bit before I push myself into her route.
-
Stalled my KnS re-reading a bit in favour of HatsuSaku which proves to be surprisingly interesting. Really liking the MC - why are MCs going through some sort of a crisis so fun? I need a VN that focuses on this hardcore, the MC should get rekt, and I should get rekt with him/her. Aaaah I am looking forward to this way more than I should have, what is this.

Until Dawn is amazing, finished it a few days back and it is my favourite game in this "genre". A very earnest B horror homage from horror fans to horror fans.
-
tfw you have to preorder a game around 5 times over because PSN is a broken piece of shit that can't tell the difference between credit cards and paypal and suddenly refuses to accept either.
-
tfw you listen to MGS OST on youtube, get the feels from the song, when suddenly you see this: Why do you do this? This just hurts. ;_;
-
1) No, the entire deal with Until Dawn is that you have influence over the story, including the death/survival of all the characters 2) Have good taste 3) No you don't, Demon's/Dark/Bloodborne are completely separate from each other, the only thing tying them is the gameplay.
-
And finished Until Dawn. What a great game - out of the new QTE based adventure "genre", this is easily my favourite one. It felt like all of the fun B horror movie cliches put together into an interactive package. Only two people survived - I was planning on having only the main heroine survive, but I guess I made a small "mistake"... oh well, haha. The deaths were fun and gory, and I'm definitely not going back to do a perfect run, where would be the fun in having all the dumb teens survive in this kind of thing? Now I just need to finish Witcher 3 (after like two months... holy shit this game never ends) - and then I will just drown myself in Ground Zeroes until Phantom Pain hits.

News From 5bp/Mages Regarding The YU-NO Remake
Vokoca replied to XReaper's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I honestly don't see the problem. Probably the only thing that will take a hit will be the h-scenes - and while I haven't read the VN yet, it doesn't sound like something that would fall apart when you omit the sex (they aren't necessarily going to remove it from there). I also usually prefer the remake art over the old one (Higurashi, Umineko, Tsukihime), and this is no exception, so I am looking forward to this. -
Playing Until Dawn, and enjoying it immensely so far. Or I would be, if the game told me it didn't finish downloading additional content before so I would be able to let it finish overnight... now I'm stuck waiting to be able to continue D:

tfw you have absolutely no idea who Kiriririri is talking about
-
Very easily, her boy-speak pushes my impression of her somewhere between annoying as hell and downright disturbing, the same going for her mannerisms and attitude. Not counting the other Toko, she's honestly my least liked character so far in my re-read. I hope this will change as I am still in the beginning, her being the main heroine and all, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. I remember being rather indifferent about her back when I read the TLed version, but most of my dislike for her now comes from the things that would get mostly lost in English, so it makes sense, I suppose. Tojiko Tsudzuriko is clearly best girl.

tfw you wake up and it's already past 3 PM. Where did the day go?
-
I'm re-reading KnS now just so I can move onto the sequel right after I finish.... why... why do you remind me of this pain? How am I supposed to continue reading now when I know the horrors ahead? ;_; Still near the beginning though, going to see just how far I can make it without using a walkthrough. It was a long time since I read, so I forgot most of the finer details, so it's still very fun.

Actually, there was a recommendation so obvious that I didn't even think of it at first, but it seems it somehow wasn't brought up yet (unless I can't read again ). How about Corpse Party? Those are easily the goriest translated VNs out there, and the first two are translated already (the third is being worked on too, afaik). The first one focuses more on horror, but as the series goes on, the focus shifts more towards gore and shock value. Might be exactly what you're looking for.
-
>tfw you grew up on PC like a true pleb (?)
-
tfw you finish a good VN and you fall into The Void™
-
Are you actually looking for plain gore, or guro? There's plenty of guro out there, stuff like Fraternite, Gore Screaming Show, etc. As for gore, most of it was mentioned here already - Chaos;Head in particular comes to mind, it's quite out there for a VN without sexual content. Chaos;Child seems to take it even a step further (kind of felt sick from the intro alone to be honest, no more cheap cheese for me... ). Dunamis15 and Disorder6 also stick in a rather similar vein, though the gore isn't as over the top in those. Actually, looking through the translated recommendations, no one has brought up Higurashi and Umineko yet. Those have their scary and gory moments, Umineko especially goes into the absurd levels at certain points.
-
>tfw this is the only true text colour Wait... this thread isn't Umineko? B...but... the colours... and avatars... w-what, I don't...

And just finished Harumade, kururu. This VN is a fine example of why even if you are going to rely on different genres, you absolutely need great comedy and likeable characters as well - that is to say, this VN is an example of how to do it perfectly well. HaruKuru puts you through 15 (yes, 15) h-scenes before it even gets to the real plot - and you know what? I've thoroughly enjoyed all of them. If Makina's h-scenes in GnK were funny, HaruKuru's are hilarity incarnate. I haven't laughed this much in quite some time, and on porn at that.... well played Watanabe, well played. Of course, the hard sci-fi is amazing when it comes to it, but the less you know about that the better - there's enough spooky foreshadowing in the harem prelude to give you an idea of what might be coming, and looking for those is incredibly fun. Overall, a 9/10 from me, it was an incredibly satisfying experience. What do I read now, though...? Is it finally time I catch up on the MajiKoi hype?
-
I hope you enjoy it, Saya no Uta is one of my favourite VNs!
-
Haha, I would hardly call it a fetish, I just really enjoy this kind of protagonist from time to time, since it lends itself to really negative and depressing scenes/entire stories. I might check out Boku no Kanojo wa Gatenkei eventually, though not sure how I can take NTR - might be too much even for me, we will see. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll just wait if someone doesn't have any suggestions that deal more with other genres than romance/drama alone. Also, nice try, Elias.
-
This is probably quite a strange request, but any recommendations for a VN with a hetare protagonist? To be a bit more specific, I'm not looking for a disgusting pervert protagonist (although I can take it if it's not in overwhelming amounts), but rather an apathetic, hopeless kind of negative character. I'd prefer something that's not entirely focused on romance/drama, but it's not an absolute requirement. Any suggestions?

>tfw you open youtube and this is the first recommended video. Google is onto my feels.
