There's only one possible response to this:

Looking back at it, Clover was probably my favourite character as well. Well, I wasn't really impressed with the characters overall, but at least Clover fell into some of the categories I enjoy.
-
It is an OELVN, the translation is happening the other way around - it is being translated into Japanese. Into bad Japanese. It's also pretty interesting how this is their second attempt. They've only raised ~$23k the first time, but now they're past the goal with 13 days still left. I wonder what happened to so drastically change the interest?

Vaguely interesting spin on what is otherwise a tired cliche? Check. Dumb "Hey I took part in this, look at my money me!" pledge tiers? Check. Pretentious and meme-tastic presentation? Check. Horrendous translation? Check. Yeah guys, looks like we have another amazing kickstarter on our hands.

My god, I forgot how damn ugly those models look... Though the fun flowchart makes up for it. I've been kind of slacking on VNs recently, not aving enough mtivation to continue RuiTomo FD (not interested in Megumu's route at all), but at the same time not wanting to start anything new. I will have to either put this on hold or just get over myself, but it seems like fandiscs aren't really my thing - although Hino's slice of life is entertaining for sure. Maybe it's time I continued the infinite VN Sui, too.

There isn't much that sets the mood better than this - dark, relentless and just plain evil.

VNStats, a cool way to analyze your reading habits
Vokoca replied to Decay's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Witch, Demon, Blade, Servant, Shotgun... Evening Gloves.... uh... I don't know what to make out of those traits. That said, the first three tags seem to be Violence, Metafiction and Villainous Heroine, so it seems they're getting at least something right. -
Two Years here on Fuwa, Change, Evolution and Many Thanks
Vokoca replied to Hanako's topic in General Discussion
I wasn't? Where did I go wrong? How... how did this happen? Congrats on the two years. You stuck around this long, don't think we'll let you go easily now. I'm looking forward to the next thread in two years, and then the next one, and the next one... you aren't going anywhere~? -
Sayonara wo Oshiete: A VN That Mastered The Use of Atmopshere
Vokoca commented on Zalor's blog entry in Zalor's Seminar
Glad you enjoyed the VN, Sayooshi truly does what it sets out to do exceptionally well. I wouldn't really blame the ending for not being ambiguous; despite how Sayooshi appears at first, it never really tries to hide things from you. They're all there from the very beginning, just waiting for you to notice them - even if noticing isn't always the best thing to do. The only thing I didn't like was how every ending (except for the bad end and the bonus scenes in the epilogue) was the same, which kind of took away from the overall value for me. -
Hm, interesting, I suppose I should've looked through blog posts first. Thanks for pointing that out. It'd be nice to hear some more opinions on this though, so if anyone else here has read it please do share your thoughts!

Venus Blood Series, In order from Abyss to Hypno
Vokoca commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
Interesting review. I've recently gotten curious about this series when I read about it in one of my magazines, so it's nice to see some opinions on it. I think I'll check out Hypno, if that is the best one. I happen to be a fan of corruption, and certain kinds of tentacle h do it for me as well, so I'm kind of hopeful even for the h - though I guess I won't hold my expectations too high for that kind of thing. -
So I was browsing a random eroge magazine and came across the newest entry in the Venus Blood series. I was pretty intrigued by what I saw - I haven't really played any VN with proper gameplay yet, and well, the 'weirder' h-scenes might keep it a bit more entertaining (if only because of curiosity) than, say, the Rance series. Anyway, this leads me to my question, does anyone here have experience with the Venus Blood series? Are the games any good? And is it worth starting with the first one?

Anything chuuni will usually do, assuming it doesn't shy away from the dark atmosphere. Stuff like Senshinkan has exploding heads and flying eyeballs in almost every second battle scene, so that has you covered in the gore front at the very least. If you're looking for horrifying in more ways than just violence, you might want to give Muramasa a go, that's about as dark it gets when it comes to chuuni. If you like denpa (then welcome to the club ), there's nothing better than Sayooshi, which is easily the most extreme VN on this list, though maybe not exactly in the ways you might expect. Chaos;Child is a good pick if you want something a bit lighter with shades of both denpa and chuuni, with the main focus being on mystery. This might be a console (soon PC) VN, but the 18+ rating sure shows. As for translated VNs, I see the Corpse Party series wasn't mentioned yet, you might find plenty of what you're looking for there as well.
-
Well, you're in luck, then. Just recently, Chaos;Child was announced to come out on PC in 2016.

You should've known this day was coming ever since you joined the group. (´っ・ω・`)っ

Finished Chaos;Child. I was a bit unsure about it at first, but I have to say that I loved it in the end. It is different yet similar to Chaos;Head, and it actually uses its position as a sequel in interesting ways, rather than just being a further attempt at milking money out of the franchise. All the heroine 'routes' are a fun exploration of various endings to the main story (much like C;H), and the true ending is very satisfying as well, and improvement over its predecessor in my opinion. The art is great, and the OST is amazing, it has a couple of tracks that were stuck in my head for quite some time. Chaos;Child steps even further into the fantasy region, so if you didn't like that about C;H, you might want to avoid this one - but if that's not a minus for you, I'd definitely recommend it.

Currently recovering from the shock of getting the best looking heroine for 5 minutes and then having her taken away again. That's dirty, 5pb.. D: You don't make designs that I love and then use them for like 1% of the VN... that's... that's just too much for my heart. Well, I've got Yamazoe's route left, I have absolutely no idea what to expect from that. She never really struck me as a heroine kind of character (thought the last route would be Kunosato, haha). Well, come at me Umehara, I'm curious what you have in stock next.
-
To rephrase my reaction: "I don't know how this is happening, but I love that it is happening!"

^ I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again because I had a similar problem when I started playing: Fusion>>>>>>Levelling Grinding for levels is not how you win a Persona game. Still on Dragon's Dogma Online. What? N-no, I'm not playing it way too long! The newly added warrior class is the shit. Build up the revenge meter and hit the damage cap from level ~17 already, this truly is the Guts class we all wanted. Capcom really fixed the class from the original game - you now have a default skill, which (with good timing) can decrease the received damage to negligible minimum, while also building your revenge gauge with each such successful 'block'. When built halfway (or completely for more effect) the revenge gauge greatly increases the damage of your default heavy attack, and it can also boost your defences and the like depending on your passive skills. That, and you can now use four custom skills of your choosing, like with every other class in the game. I'm only at level 25 now so it's hard to say how the warrior will fare at end-game stuff, but so far I think it's safe to say that Capcom did it and made the warrior class into what it should've been in the original Dragon's Dogma as well. Now we just need to make them remove the damage cap to bring the real pain.

Emries has discovered an easy and cheap way to experience real life tentacle sex... the hard way.
-
Tentacle hype was the last thing I was expecting when I opened fuwa again in some time. It seems to do things I might potentially like... I guess I will have to give it a read, f-for science of course! I-It's not like I'm interested in any of the lewd things or anything!! Also slowly continuing my way through Chaos;Child when ~yandere-chan~ DDON isn't sucking away all my time. Finished Kazuki's route/chapter this time - I've really enjoyed this one. If you thought C;C or even C;H is ridiculous and over the top, you'll either love or absolutely hate this route, because it takes over the top to a new level. What happens when you mix fiction with reality too much? Nothing good... nothing good, I tell you. I'm reading Kurusu's route now, and then I have only Yamazoe's left in the character routes. Not particularly looking forward to that because of the character, but the C;H/C;C routes are hardly ever focused on romance, so it hopefully still should have an interesting plot.

#blameclockup Time to read Fraternite and get into guro too.
-
Honestly the best thing about Euphoria getting translated is seeing reactions like this. Just you wait for the human washing machine scene, I still think that is by far the worst thing in the entire VN.
-
Finished Arimura's route in Chaos;Child. Save for the hilarious delusion triggers (unlike C;H, they exist pretty much solely for over the top humour here... and hidden flags that are never explained), it was nothing special. That is, until the ending came. Oh boy, was the ending cool, it was almost like it was written for me. C;C seems to have a knack for endings so far, though a lot of it just has to do with a certain someone that just pulls at all my hype strings. The only downside to this is that if that certain someone isn't the subject of the true route, I will lose my shit.

discussion Cliche stories (AKA: unoriginal plot)
Vokoca replied to firecat's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Just because a story has cliches doesn't automatically mean it is bad. Ryuukishi for example is very good at taking a bunch of cliches and turning them on their head (Umineko especially), and deconstruction works in general require the existence of cliches in the first place. So, I honestly like cliches, because they allow for fun stuff like that. If the work has nothing but cliches, though... well, as long as you know what you're in for, I guess it is fine. Not necessarily my thing, though.
