  1. Hi guys, so I wanted to try out Root Double, but the problem is I can't get through the DVD protection. I've installed the VN just fine, but when I launch it, I get this error. I thought I'd get around this with an SCSI drive on DT, but for some reason that doesn't help at all. I'm running Windows 8.1. Any ideas?
  2. About Amane's h-scenes in Meikyuu, let's just say this happens: (A h-scene CG spoiler, don't click if you consider fanservice an incredibly important story element. : p) As for MLA, I agree that while Takeru matures quite a bit, he never really becomes a badass or anything close to that. He spends the entire story lamenting his fate in one way or the other - which wouldn't even be so bad if the VN didn't enjoy repeating every single thing at least 10 times so much. Seriously, that had to be my biggest problem with the writing... that and the rushed chapter before the ending. Also, if they were going to voice Takeru, couldn't they just do it completely? That always weirded me out so much.
  3. Just got to the opening in RuiTomo. I'm very impressed so far - not necessarily by the story, but because of the narration itself. This is exactly why I like complex and interesting main characters that are as much important - if not more important - than the heroines themselves. You spend most of your time reading with them, after all. Tomo's great so far, I really like how (s)he's not perfect. A liar, a hypocrite, yet deep down a nice person... I'm really curious where the story will go. Probably somewhere cursed, ha ha.
  4. It hasn't been too incredible so far. Feels like rereading Unlimited, though obviously things'll get better and better towards the end.
  5. As in the resolution. The back of the box at least claims that, I don't really have the hardware to test it on. The VN did come on 3 DVDs though, so I wouldn't really doubt it. The main reason why I'm curious about its budget, though, is the amount of animations in there. I've only read the prologue, but that already had more animations in it than any other VN I've played. Not just short ones, there even are animated backgrounds...
  6. When I 100% the VN. That is, as long as there's some way of measuring it, like going by the CG gallery, etc. I always do my best to go for bad endings first, so it's not really difficult or annoying, it just feels like the natural progression. That said, if there is a VN I really don't enjoy, I skip something in it. I don't really feel like I've finished it then, though.
  7. I'd really like to see the budget for VNs from Light, those numbers must be ridiculous. I still can't get over Senshinkan being 4K.
  8. To be fair, I only read one route and had enough, so I am sure there are better ones, but in the end it's just a regular charage with nice production values. Well, if you enjoy that kind of thing, I suppose that VN is great, just don't really expect any story from it, besides what's absolutely necessary to create the setting.
  9. Shouldn't be an OS problem, I'm running Win 8.1 and I had no problems with that VN. You aren't missing out on much either way, to be honest.
  10. And here I thought Rui would be the true route, got completely fooled I guess. Thanks for the heads up, I'll go with that route order.
  11. Slowly making my way through RuiTomo. I still can't get over how strangely difficult it is. It's like half of the text is poverbs and the other philosophy - though that's definitely not a bad thing. Just very unexpected. The whole cast got introduced and I like them a lot, as far as first impressions go. Thought the MC definitely steals the show, she's great. I also kind of lost to Steve and started IroSeka, thought I might wait with continuing that till I get done with RuiTomo, not sure yet. Go for it! I can guarantee you it'll be one of the most interesting and unique VNs you'll ever read. It has a great story, intriguing themes, amazing OST and (in the remake) awesome VA cast. Don't forget to grab the UmiTweak patch! Or just wait a year or two for the complete 1080p PS3 port from the other guys. Enjoy! I'll just get this out of the way first - Tsuki best girl.
  12. You are mistaken on a number of the spoilers, but I think you've spoiled yourself on most of the twists already. All that's left for you is to see the journey/solutions to the actual murders - and the slight differences in which characters make it and such. Whether that's enough to warrant a $40 purchase or not... well, I'm honestly not sure. If you are in for solving the murders, you'll enjoy it. If you wanted to go in just for thee twists at the end, you know mostly everything already.
  13. Still Ultimate huge DR2 spoilers everywhere.
  14. I'm sorry to go off-topic, but since there's already a thread about stuff like this, it might be better than creating a whole new one just for this. Did anyone here read Sayonara wo Oshiete? I got kind of interested by the tags, but I was wondering if it's just a mindless nukige full of weird sex, or if there actually exists some interesting story behind it?
  15. I'd probably give it an 11/10 but that's because this is exactly the kind of thing I love.
  16. I think that just because someone enjoys the darker stuff in fiction doesn't necessarily mean they'd enjoy - or crave it - in real life as well. In the end it's just fantasy, and the weirder stuff in particular is attractive probably exactly for that reason. I did read some of the stuff out of curiosity (namely euphoria), but I just found it either disturbing or weirdly hilarious, so I guess I can't really add to this discussion much. That said, I do enjoy some weird fetishes, and I find regular h-scenes pretty boring - but no dark stuff for me. At least not in relation to sex.
  17. Thought I would finish DanganRonpa 2 before sleep - and it's already past 9 in the morning! The whole VN (game?) is a huge improvement over the first for sure, maybe with the exception of the annoying minigames. The mysteries were more complicated and entertaining, and the plot as a whole - especially in the last two chapters - was much better than the predecessor. Not sure how to feel about being able to guess the entire twist right from the first scene, but it definitely got me stumped in some different places. Especially that minigame in chapter 4 made me feel like a complete idiot. 9/10 from me
  18. Finally started RuiTomo. I had no idea this VN had such a... characteristic writing style. It's kind of difficult because of all the proverbs and slang used, but it definitely makes for an unique narration that leaves a strong impression. It's all so philosophical and wordy... especially that letter. I will never understand how Japanese people write letters, that has to take writing skill that's completely out of my league. As for the plot itself, it's rather humorous so far, didn't get into the more serious bits yet I suppose. Also, it's incredibly cute. Especially the main character.... what is that blasphemy? He's confusing me to the point where I wish he was just a girl instead.
  19. Well, finished Euphoria - or so I thought. It was probably just some sort of a fake ending, since when I went back onto Nemu's route, I've got past the "credits" and then it just kept going.... and going... and the farther it got, the more retarded the plot was. I thought the plot was supposed to be good, not some predictable shit that just gets more ridiculous as it goes. Well, I think I'm done. I don't have the energy to read this, completely lost all the interest with where the VN went. The VN has good art, voice acting (for the characters that actually are voiced) and OST, I'll give it that. But the plot... well, shouldn't have expected much from a nukige I suppose. Dropped.
