If you can still get a copy that is. The game is out of print and the digital version is no longer available either. New copies start at around 15k yen and up on amazon, and at around 140 dollars on play-asia. The PS3 version is a big cheaper, but it's not much of a win either. For the English release, as others have mentioned above, the new MangaGamer release is your best bet. You can even patch it with the compatible Sui content (art, voices) if you can get your hands on that - you'll just have to wait for MG to work their way through the rest of the original arcs.

Well, when you run out of account names because of multiple accounts for different regions.... Also it's because PS4 wants to have a "full name" for the best social gaming experience or something w

Making my way through Fate/Extra CCC. So far I'm enjoying this way more than the regular Fate/Extra - the new structure is very refreshing, the higher budget highly appreciated, and the overall tone very enjoyable. CCC has taken a rather hard swerve towards bizarre humour compared to its predecessor's serious atmosphere, and so far it is serving it greatly in my opinion. This also might be just because I'm playing on easy this time around, but the battle system seems a bit less annoying this time around. I feel like they're much more lenient with showing you the enemy moves - but again that might be because I played Extra on normal. I disliked Extra's gameplay so much I just cheated my way to like level 50 to skip all th grinding and pretty much broke the entire game, but I'm enjoying CCC enough to play it as intended. Even thinking of going for two playthroughs - as much as I like Sakura, Caster is too much of a waifu to not pick her first; especially after I went through Extra with her too. She's the great yandere-senpai after all, wouldn't want to mess with that. Other than that, I've just sold my soul to the devil in exchange for a month of suffering.

FuwaCom : Ecchi Unknown. [shitty fanfiction]
Vokoca replied to Kurisu-Chan's topic in Creative Corner
Hey now, this.... this is a bit too accurate, don't you think? It's, uh... dank memes, dank memes.... oh yeah, 3spooky5me. -
Finished Makoto's route in Sakuuta. That went on much longer than I expected, though tat's not necessarily a bad thing. Enjoyed the plot quite a bit; this route revealed much more backstory than I was expecting! The route itself was topped off with a really nice ED - reminded me just how much I like songs that are very close thematically to their related material. Next up is spooky Rin, I suppose. You're giving that VN too much credit. The setting is extremely cliched and does barely anything new, I wouldn't call that great.

Making slow progress in Sakura no Uta. Really enjoying it so far. I've made it onto my first route (Toritani), so it's time to see what Asou's contribution is like. I'm still expecting this to turn into euphoria out of nowhere. I've also finally decided to take the plunge and started reading Bradyon Veda. Only about three chapters in, but so far I can say that this VN has one of the most interesting settings I've seen in a VN yet. The chuuni itself is also very unique... it almost makes me wish I paid more attention to chemistry and physics in school. Sometimes I really feel like I'm reading a textbook rather than a VN given the language they use, but it's definitely part of the appeal. Oh my, it sure sounds like you dislike her. What do you think, everyone?

Kaito makes even the amazing onii-sama from Mahouka look like a flawed loser in comparison. On a more serious note, the main characters are one of the most important parts of a story for me (if only because you see the world through their point of view, and therefore spend the most time with them) - so the more normal and average the protagonist is, the more boring the story becomes. Not asking for amazing superhumans, I'm very fond of flawed protagonists as well - I just want a complex character that is fun to read about. To hell with Blank "Please self-insert here!" Slate-kun, the more the protagonist is their own character, the better - and bonus points for protagonists that take actions wildly different from the reader's standards and expectations, be that in good or bad directions.

Finally got back to Amagami today, and got some good progress done - that is, Kaoru's Best and Normal end, and Haruka's Best and Bad end. Also finally got to see what these tears events' are, and what happens when you promise to go on a date and then don't actually show up... jeez, these were rough. Especially that bad end, holy shit... even if that gives new epilogues and such, I definitely don't want to do that again with different heroines too, haha. I'm really weak to this kind of drama, felt super shitty. On the other hand, both of the best endings were great - if there is anything Amagami is good at, it's giving me feels at the confession scenes. Well, that's two heroines out of the way; not sure who I'll pick next. I might do two at once again just because it's much faster-- but the game makes sure to bring the guilttrips even if you set up a date only with a single girl in the end.

looking for horror/psychological VN's
Vokoca replied to wazz_useless123's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It's probably worth mentioning that Phenomeno is originally a LN series, the VN being more or less promo material for it. Might be worth it looking for the original, although I don't know if they're translated or not. For other VNs... can't really think of any that would be translated right now... you can add Subarashiki Hibi on your backlog for when it eventually gets translated - it's definitely not horror, but it has very effective denpa (narrative from the insane point of view) sections, which is what you're most likely looking for. When it comes to already translated things, you can probably pick up the Corpse Party series for a regular horror story, although you won't really find any villainous protagonists here. If the unusual main character is what you're looking for, you could also try picking up Tsukihime, or Cross Channel. Neither of those are horror stories at all, but the main characters are quite removed from the usual good protagonist trope. -
Enjoy the ufotable goodness~ And when you're done enjoy the best route and best girl. If you don't I might have to take some extreme measures.

So I'm continuing my adventures through Amagami and things are starting to get a bit spooky already. In her route, Kaoru is talking about how she doesn't want to let anyone else have the protagonist, and how he should only watch her alone... little does she know there's a spooky love triangle in the works. The routes don't interact with each other just yet, but I'm afraid things will start going downhill very fast, soon. There's still one rank up left on the affection meter (which were the confessions iirc)... and there is that 'Rivalry' spot on the bottom I've never seen used before. I guess I will find out just what exactly it does whether I like it or not.
-
So somehow I ended up picking Amagami again, and after 534535462 attempts I finally managed to ignore Rihoko ( ) and do a different route. Juggling Kaoru and shit-senpai Haruka at the moment... both because it is faster.... and because I want to see the terror that will follow. So far Kaoru is much better than I thought - Haruka is just as shit as ever though. Really not a fan of that attitude, and even less of a fan of what the MC turns into in that route.

I'm super late, but I guess I'm finally joining the Sakuuta circlejerk. Only on the second chapter so I can't really say much, but so far the comedy is great and the Wilde references pleasantly unsettling. Also Ai best girl. Definitely read them, they're one of the best parts of the VN. They also serve as a sort of motivator to get the bad endings - and also give you hints on how to avoid them, so you don't need a walkthrough either. Told you, easily the best moment in the entire VN. Also the order isn't forced after all? Hm... well, I recommend at least going Tamao > Eru >Saki after this, since there is sort of a progression to the routes overall.

I need an visual novel with badass MC and specific plot.

Akatsuki no Goei fits that description almost exactly, if you don't mind untranslated. -
Visual Novel / Eroge with huge breasts (bakunyuu) ?
Vokoca replied to poupoumiko's topic in Recommendations
The Nyotai Kyouran series always has a route that goes into huge breasts, but it has tons of other weird stuff as well, so you might want to keep that as a last resort. How's Chichi Miko!! by the way? Had that sitting on my HDD over a year now and still haven't gotten around to it. -
Just finished Mahoutsukai no Yoru. As someone who prefers Tsukihime and Kara no Kyoukai over Fate when it comes to Nasu's portfolio, I've enjoyed the read a lot. Most of the VN deals with slice of life, exploring the rather unusual and entertaining set of main characters. This is very much Nasu, so the interactions are pretty vague for the most part, and none of the characters (and their motivations) are really that straightforward; some might find this confusing and annoying, but I think it has its own charm to it. The lore and magic related stuff is the same way - but you won't even have any time to be dismayed with the lack of clarity when the battle scenes happen. There are very few of them in the entire VN, but when they actually happen.... damn, are they something. I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that these fight scenes were the coolest damn thing I've ever seen. The presentation is absolutely ridiculous; it really puts the "visual" into visual novel, to such a point that Mahoyo doesn't even need an anime adaptation anymore. I was sitting at the edge of my seat from the sheer hype alone, and that is something that doesn't happen that often - let alone in every single battle. The OST is also one of the best ones out there.... that is, the songs composed by Fukasawa, the guy who amongst other things made the OST for the recent UBW adaptation by ufotable. Unfortunately, the rest of the composers working on the OST.... don't sound that good, and they sound about ten times worse put next to Fukasawa's work. Overall, I'd give it a 9.5/10. It's a must read for any chuuni fan - unless you have a crippling hate for slice of life.

Continuing my adventures through Hayarigami. The second case was a pleasant surprise - it was way more complex than the first one, and I actually got the culprit wrong at first, which was fun. Even after finishing the case, I still have no idea how to explain quite a lot of things that happened - there was a point near the beginning where you want to take a scientific approach or an occult one, and I suppose my denial of occult just isn't going to cut it. Other than that I'm continuing Mahoyo. It's still amazing, just couldn't recommend it to anyone who dislikes SoL - the great majority of the VN is just that, and the chuuni parts are actually really rare. still, the character interactions are great, so I can't complain. I'm around 80% through that VN, lets see where that goes.

Well, finished ZTD (yeah, I know it isn't really a VN anymore, but hey, it started as one...). I wasn't disappointed, though I wasn't super impressed either - which, in the end, is a good result I suppose. I had two main issues with VLR; the main plottwist being pretty much a carbon copy of Uchikoshi's previous works, and the characters being all just eccentric.... nothings. ZTD improves on the characters a lot, as I at least personally found them much more interesting than the previous cast - or their previous rendition; as for the plottwists.... well, they are similar, as you'd expect, but not to an insulting degree like VLR, at the very least. Uchikoshi at least tries to focus on new things while using all his old tricks, some of which in a pretty interesting way - my only complaint about the story being that the Zero gimmick/reveal was even more stupid and unbelievable than VLR's was. I love dumb plottwists, but there are just some things Uchikoshi tries to get away with and it doesn't really work. He was really pushing it in VLR already, but here it just feels downright unbelievable. Still, it wasn't really the crux of the entire story, so I could look past it at least. Overall, I enjoyed it a bit more than VLR. For better or worse, it is just more Uchikoshi - but at least this time he knows his tricks are already known, and doesn't try to hide them all up until the true ending.

[NSFW] What are some of your favorite H scenes in VNs?
Vokoca replied to NowItsAngeTime's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Guys, please. Clearly, the best h-scene in the world - no, in the entire universe - is the thrilling bicycle piss marathon from SubaHibi. It isn't hot, it is insufferably long and it makes no fucking sense at all, but even so (or maybe exactly because of that), it is a masterpiece and an achievement in story telling that shall never be matched, ever. -
Picked up Zero Time Dilemma yesterday, if that even still counts as a VN at this point. Got an ending in the first 5 minutes of playing, 10/10 playtime truly worth the money. No but really, it's pretty interesting so far. Here's hoping for Uchikoshi not falling back onto his usual plottwist.

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but you might actually want to wait before Rakuen is translated as well before you read the grand route. The grand route continues the main plot in the series - but it also has probably the worst cliffhanger in existence. It's just setup with no payoff; unless you have some amazing patience, I would recommend waiting for Rakuen too to save yourself from the suffering. That said Meikyuu also has afterstories for every single route in Kajitsu, and these at least don't attempt to murder you with an unfinished story.

Well, Fate/EXTRA is a thing. I've deiced to work on my Vita backlog and read something on the side with Mahoyo, so I've started the PSP edition of Hayarigami. The main subject matter of this VN are urban legends. Have you ever thought about what would happen if you took Phoenix Wright and replaced all the cases with creepypastas? Yeah, probably not, but the authors here apparently did. The main mechanics of the VN are as follows - collecting Database entries (sometimes this feels more like wikipedia itself, I am pretty shocked how detailed they are), managing your Courage Points, which functions as a very limited currency allowing you to select specific choices; and lastly filling out the Inference Logic chart, which basically asks you to fill out people'S relations and identities. You can do this optionally at any time, but at the end of each case you are asked to check it for the last time, and your performance will be graded. I've only finished the first case so far. At first, it seemed strangely short - and only then I found out that the arc actually has multiple ways you can go through it. You can even get an ending without seeing much of the truth behind the crime at all, or flat out get an bad end too. The story was pretty interesting so far. The art is strange, kind of water-coloury, but it fits the atmosphere. The soundtrack is surprisingly good... and the OP is... liveaction. That, coupled with no voiceacting, gives the entire VN that obscure, almost janky feel that's somehow very enjoyable in the end - pretty curious where it goes from here.
