  1. I'm a little bit busy for the next few days, but I'll try and take a look at it sometime this week.

  3. Hey Stezie, welcome to the forums. Always good to see more Australians on the forum. I'd like to send a cautious warning about taking writing tips from translated/untranslated Japanese VNs (just in case this was what you were planning.) Taking writing tips from Japanese VNs can lead to a lot of technical problems in your writing, they seem to value different things in their prose and this can actually damage your writing. Be very careful. Good luck with the dev/translation work
  4. Voted for Valkyrie because alternate worlds, demons, great wise men, what more do you need?
  5. Ditto. All this password hacking is a little scary, I'm going to regret my lax security measures one day...
  6. Art looks gorgeous. Subject matter is interesting. Writing looks impressive considering the dev team is Indonesian (English their second language?) I'd play this if I had the time :'(
  7. You should lie on the couch and get drunk, like every teenager does when they're feeling sorrowful.
  8. Neither Little Busters, nor Clannad really fit your description. Here's the thing, Japanese interactive stories tend to focus on a deep narrative and you can't have a deep narrative while also having plenty of choices. Well, you CAN but it takes far more resources than is worth it. Visual Novels tend to have fewer decisions, and your decisions affect which one of 5 or more "routes" you head down. Western interactive stories seem to focus more on choice and consequence, and player agency. The ability to make decisions which affect your environment and your situation in different ways. You get less of a central narrative, but more of a user defined story. I'm not sure you'll find what you're looking for in Visual Novels. Maybe there's some untranslated ones out there, but not translated in any case.
  9. Comedy – Terry Pratchett Serious, gritty fantasy – George Martin Steven Erikson R Scott Bakker Best fantasy which doesn’t really fit into a category – Neil Gaiman Cerebral/intellectual fantasy – Neal Stephenson China Mielville Steampunk - Gail Carriger Scott Westerfield Cherie Priest
  10. It has been proposed that the rate of internet addiction in China is higher than the rate in America because the internet is an emerging technology (Americans have been exposed to this technology for longer,) and has little to do with choice of lifestyle between the two countries. That being said the rate isn't extremely high even in China. Greece also has an extremely high internet addiction rate (comparitively) among high school teens, some studies place it higher than China's at about 8.2%.
  11. I'm looking through RPGs on Steam, I've ordered the 113 pages by number of sales, and Huniepop is on page 6 XD
  12. Tay = Visual Novel Conversion Machine.
  13. Sweet! I've been waiting for all the games to be translated before I gave it a try, it's supposed to be pretty damn good :3
  14. No, it's perfectly natural. And Pillars of Eternity is gonna rock, so definitely understand your POV!
  15. Yeah, I’ve used that one a few times. I’m quite proud of it
  16. Dear Kimossab Stop trying to shoehorn a default piracy lecture into your response, it’s obviously out of place when you are responding to an observation on the changing nature of expectations in young people. Thank You
  17. *Copy and paste from Skype* Well, if you're doing illegal stuff then you can't expect the world to accomodate you in your practice. It used to be if you were doing illegal stuff you expected to have to work at it a little to get your goods, but kids these days want the process to be free AND easy. What a weird world I'll be ecstatic if every anime or manga site gets closed down, and people who want free stuff have to use the darknet. It won't stop piracy, but it will force those who want free goodies to have to work at it a bit. Work is good for the soul, you know. This point of view is the proud product of Rooke's grumpy old man thinkings.
  18. I think it's important for the medium to have the option, but I don't think it will be used much, at least to begin with. That being said, this sort of customisation could encourage out-of-the-box thinking which could finally get a stagnating medium moving again, even if it is just a different way of delivering text to the screen. But dodgy, traditional wisdom stands in its path. For example, VNDB has propagated dodgy information by tying the definition of a Visual Novel to the style and manner the text box is presented. This is not only inaccurate but encourages stagnation in the medium, especially considering it's a popular Visual Novel website. While I encourage and support the addition of multiple text boxes, you'll have to realise that while this sort of customisation is important, not many will use it in the short-term future.
  19. Fuwachat still seems like a work in progress, some tweaking is probably required but Tay's got his hands full at the moment. Should prob shoot him a PM if you think the lack of mods is an issue, I don't visit there and so I can't tell.
  20. Simple version of Etrian Odyssey gameplay, for anybody who's looking for a quick fix.
  21. Yessssss! About time JAST!
  22. Really? 0.0 If I wasn't so tired I'd go look this up immediately. I thought knowledge of C# was mandatory.
