If we're talking actual Japanese dubs of western stuff, they can be surprisingly good. I started watching the Japanese dub of Friends as a joke, but actually found myself enjoying the Japanese voice cast quite a lot. The localization for the jokes were on point, too. Pretty good stuff. Japanese Chandler is something else, lol. Japanese voice work in anime/ VNs etc tends to be very high quality. This comes from it just being a much bigger market over there, so there's higher expecations for the VAs, as opposed to the west, where you kind of take what you get. Even amateur VAs in Japan can be pretty darn amazing, because they have much more competition, and a much harder time getting jobs compared to the western scene, so they kind of have to be good to even be considered. I'm amazed at how many incredibly skilled VAs do really "cheap" doujin work, just to get their names out there.

If My Heart Had Wings - Flight Diary Fandisc Steam Release
Dergonu replied to WorldofAI's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It was lacking from their original description on Steam. It listed all the routes except for Akari, and the twin after-route. (And the H routes, ofc) It made sense for it to be gone, too, because they are the youngest among the girls, and their route has a scene of them half naked in the bath, kissing. Figured that was the reason. I guess they just forgot to put the route in their route overview. -
Looking for VN to fan translate
Dergonu replied to HoshizoraNoHikari's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
You have good taste! One of my personal favorites, too! It truly does deserve a new translation, as what SakuraGame did to it can't even be called a "translation." Their garbage job is just insulting to the original work. Best of luck, with whatever you end up choosing! If you do end up picking Kimisora, I'm sure lots of people will be pleased hearing a more proper translation is in the works. ^^ -
Alien invasion, robot uprising and zombie apocalypse.
Dergonu replied to ztrepzilius's topic in Recommendations
XX Of The Dead is a really cool zombie apocalypse VN. -
Translated: Euphoria, it's exactly what you asked for. Untranslated: Heaven Death Game is like this, on an island, much like the battle royale movie, but with a bunch of other strange shit going on. It's also very similar to saw in brutality; lots of gore and violence. 13-nin no Uruwashiki Kedamono also fits the bill pretty well. (Also a pretty brual game.)

EDIT: Let's keep things on topic now. If the derailing continues, the thread willl be locked permanently. Stay civil and respect each other's opinions, please.

Everyone in here needs to chill. This back and forth has very little to do with the OP’s original question. Some posts have been hidden. Let’s not make this any worse, and keep things civil and on topic instead, or else we’ll have to lock the whole thing.

How do I fix Muv-Luv Runtime Error 406?
Dergonu replied to Ryleona's topic in Voluntary Tech Support
Hey, making one thread is enough. Have you tried contacting the Muv Luv team about this issue? You are probably better off contacting the company that localized the game about these types of technical issues. -

If My Heart Had Wings - Flight Diary Fandisc Steam Release
Dergonu replied to WorldofAI's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Oh, certainly. It would probably take some extra time. Which really just goes to show how lazy Moenovel is about this stuff once again. "We need to do some extra work? Pfft, just drop the whole route." Their Cross Channel release was also a strange splice of versions, if I remember correctly. (I believe they used the 18+ version as a base, then cut out the porn and altered text where needed, even though an all-ages port exists, much like with Flight Diary.) Some people thought maybe it could be a rights issue with Cruise Sign, but that does not seem to be the case, seeing as they do indeed have assets from that version. So, this either comes down to incompetence or laziness. Or both. Most likely both. -
If My Heart Had Wings - Flight Diary Fandisc Steam Release
Dergonu replied to WorldofAI's topic in Visual Novel Talk
What confuses me is that they have all-ages CGs from Cruise Sign, yet they didn't TL Akari's route. (??) (The replacement CGs for Kanako and Hotaru are not in the original, and are only found in the PS3/ PSvita versions of Cruise Sign.) Then again, nothing Moenovel ever does makes sense. From what I can tell from glancing at this, you're lacking an extra side-story for the twins, and one for the Himegi sisters. (+ Some altered text, most likely, as well as a large amount of H-scenes. Like, a lot.) Overall this is a bad version of Cruise Sign, that doesn't even add the new route. They did leave the twins' after route intact after all, based on those CGs. (Unless the CGs were just left in the files, and it isn't actually in the game.) In their original Steam page overview, the route was cut out from the list, so I thought they would skip it. (It does feature the CG you'll see in the overview above, with the girls in bikinis kissing the protag in the bath. Seeing as they are younger than the protag, I figured Steam would nuke it, but I guess not? If it is in the game, that's good at least. Means no after routes were cut, only bonus routes like the Himegi sister team-up and such.) -
Planetarian, for sure. He says, as if he has played any others. He has not. Please do not hurt him.

Fuwanovel Community Event- Battle Royale - V2!
Dergonu replied to Dergonu's topic in Members' Lounge
Alright, let's discuss the elephant in the room. This was kind of just abandoned, and I don't want to leave it like that. I wanted to pick it up again several times, but I haven't really had the time or the motivation to do so. I've gotten quite a lot of questions asking if I'd continue this or not, which goes to show that there's been some interest there from the community too. (Most of them coming from @Kiriririri, who just wants to kill everyone in his glorious loli form.) So I figured it's about time I wrapped this up. It has now been a full year since this started, and I want to at least have a proper ending for people. Here's what I'm thinking: I'll write one more, big chapter, trying to wrap up all the loose ends. I'd give everyone who haven't been in a chapter yet an introduction, and try to make one big, final battle for the rest of the people alive, then crown a victor. I don't know how many people still even remember this was a thing, but hopefully there's at least some interest in seeing it end. Now, one big thing of note: I have no real ETA on this chapter. I work full-time now, (I was still in uni back when I started, heh,) so I really only have the weekends to write. Therefore I expect this to take at least a couple of weeks. If you are interested in seeing the ending, follow this thread and you'll get a notification when I post something. That's about it! Sorry it took so long for me to finally pick this back up. Feel free to leave a comment if you're still excited about this after so long, lol. Will be interesting to see if anyone still remembers it. -
You're better off contacting MG directly about this issue.

If My Heart Had Wings - Flight Diary Fandisc Steam Release
Dergonu replied to WorldofAI's topic in Visual Novel Talk
There's no real way to tell without actually playing both versions side by side, but since the build they gave Steam was all-ages already, it most likely was non 18+ content that was cut the second time, as there was no H to cut to begin with in their build. So, chances are you won't be happy with this release. -
Length of the route doesn't bother me that much. It can be different for each girl if it makes sense. I hate seeing stories dragged out just because. Though, I prefer it when the girls have the same amount of H-scenes. It triggers me when the girl I like gets less than the others, lol. Unless it's a side route or something, of course.

A question to those who read untranslated Japanese VNs
Dergonu replied to AustriaVNFan's topic in Visual Novel Talk
1) At the start I just wanted to read VNs and LNs that weren't translated, though I quickly got interested in translation, which is what kept me going even after reaching a "decent enough" level. Over four years later and here I am, translating VNs. Yay. 2) It only took a few months to start reading my first unTLed game, but it was slow and... pretty messy. I didn't feel comfortable reading a game fully without major issues until a good year of studying. 3) The first few? Very hard. But, I got through them regardless, and I learned lots from them. 4/5) No. I did use those for a while when I was new, but I stopped using them once I felt like they turned into more of a crutch than an aid. More often than not I'd end up trying to read the furigana over the kanji compounds in the text hooker before I even looked at the kanji, even if it was a word I knew. This is obviously fairly pointless. In my opinion, text hookers should only be an aid in the beginning, when you really don't know much vocab at all. Once you start getting a bit more into it, you should ditch the text hookers, and start looking up stuff manually. Yes, it's slow at first, but it's absolutely the best way to learn and remember what you learned. -
So, if I understand this correctly, there is some content locked behind the $80 deluxe edition? In other words, "normal" backers/ people who buy the game normally after launch won't get all the content of the game? Art is nice, though knowing I won't be getting the full game if I pledge for a normal digital tier makes me a bit hesitant to pledge, tbh.

Is it worth it to buy vita for playing visual novel?
Dergonu replied to Prideful's topic in General Discussion
There's lots of good visual novels for the PSvita, though most of them aren't translated. So, if you need a console for translated VNs, the vita probably won't be the best choice. If you speak Japanese, then there's lots of stuff you can buy, and the console itself is a bit old, so it's rather cheap, even when bought new. (And much cheaper if bought used.) -
Mosaic preferences in Visual Novel H-Scenes
Dergonu replied to NowItsAngeTime's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I want them gone if possible. Though, I won't choose not to buy a game if they're there. There's lots of reasons why they might be left in, and that's understandable. (Also, if the art under looks absolutely dreadful, I do prefer them, heh.) Very light mosaics can look nice, like the ones in Nikuniku. Though, the uncensored version is almost always better in my opinion. Almost always. Like mentioned above, there are exceptions where the art under them is just... absolutely terrible. -
Ooh, nice! Think you're the only other person I've seen who owns the Amagami chotto omake gekijou games. I had to pay like 11k yen for mine. They're pretty rare nowadays. (New ones, that is.)
