Not really. So long as you don't try to *sell* the final translation patch - that's illegal. There's nothing inherently illegal about paying someone to translate text, or to make a game mod. And if you legally paid for a copy of the game, you can freely modify it for your own enjoyment if you can - you have that limited license right. It's the distribution - you try and sell that patch and then you've got problems. Otherwise, you'd never have any game modifications, and clearly those are abundant in all video games, not just translations for visual novels. That's why every translation patch Fuwanovel has ever linked has only been offered as free (to the best of my knowledge, anyway). In other words, I like the synopsis and look of a Japanese visual novel, so I buy a copy and want it translated. I can pay Fuwanovel Member A to translate the text from Japanese to English. And I can pay Fuwanovel Member B to use that to make a game mod so the text reads in English. And it is legal for me to use that mod so I can enjoy the game in English. What I can't do is take that patch and make a thread to all Fuwanovel Members saying "Pay me $10 and you can have the English patch to this Japanese Visual Novel." That's the illegal part.

Your answer was the first one posted. To expound upon this - translating Japanese to English is a skill, and then getting it coded into a game patch is also a skill. Essentially, a lot of translations/localizations that aren't done by an actual company (MangaGamer / Sekai Project / JAST) are done pretty much by fans of the work who either have the skills to do it themselves, or can pay those who have the skills to do it. It's usually more the former than the latter, and in those cases it wouldn't surprise me if they keep quiet until they're close to done, so they don't get stressed by others asking when it will be done. So basically, it's considered tres gauche to simply just ask if someone's working on something and suggest it gets worked on without a plan.

Not sure how it works in the industry, but if MangaGamer hires translators as exclusive then their staff wouldn't be able to translate for other companies, especially ones they already have a working relationship with on a title they haven't picked up.

Actually, in the case of the Rider class it doesn't - the oddest thing about the times I did get lucky on my gacha, is I still ended up with servants in the same classes not once but twice. Of the five 4* servants I rolled, I got two Riders (Bonney/Read and Marie Antoinette) and two Berzerkers (Beowulf and Frankenstein). The other one was a Saber in Rama. I maxed Medea because I didn't have any other decent Casters until that last event where you earned Irisveil. Nah, it's a completely different game about drift racing and collecting a harem of waifus.

Most VNs with h scenes I've read have done well with the art, it's usually the dialogue that gets annoying. Which is why I love Everlasting Summer's take on it - no text, just some h-scenes giving you the point of what just happened. Done. Only problem is some people don't care for the art in Everlasting Summer. And I don't fap to VNs. I have completely different material for that sort of thing.

Nothing. In fact, being good at geography was the only thing that kept my Spanish grades in the "C" area. I was able to rattle off capital cities and nations that spoke Spanish like nobodies business back in the day. Used to know all of Europe's countries and capitals as well then it went all breaking up and stuff and there's, like, 40 different countries where the former USSR was as well as in that Czech Republic area.

I'm almost curious how the RPG game mechanics work out, as that's something new for the Sakura series. Not really interested in the recycled glistening boobies. Not curious enough to pay for it, though.
