  1. I was being serious. If all they do with Angel Beats VN is add content to secondary characters, then it's all a bluff. Secondary characters are secondary for a reason, and if all they do is this, I don't think they'll add anything to the (already convoluted while simple*) main story. Not that it really needs it. (*): Angel Beats' plot is simple, it'so simple the writers make a lot of pretty silly plot twists to make it appear more elaborate than it is. And now please go back to talking Rewrite that is the focus of the thread.
  2. I liked Isuzu's route, it's one of the best I've read (I've read 30-something VNs). To me she's not exactly a kuudere, but those matters are very complicated. She's more like a tsundere of sorts. But hard to put her in any definite category.
  3. Angel Beats has this prominent, full-fledged kuudere, and the VN will probably get translated in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled.
  4. VLR is flawless as a product, but it's just an extension of the tropes and concept of Ever 17. You said that he always does time travel, but more accurately, he loves infinite loops. Whereas Zero Escape plays heavily with the Many Worlds Interpretation timelines, there was mention of Schrödinger's Kitty as back as Never 7. He also loves supernatural mental powers, such as Curé and SHIFT. As for ZTD's shortcomings, I don't believe Uchikoshi actually provides the whole text. He's director not writer. The cool ideas are all his, but the off characterization is probably due to a change in writers, though I haven't checked. Just as the Infinity series. He hadn't the whole say over things, since there were a couple of other co-directors. I don't know if he would have pushed up with the datesim concept if he was in charge alone. The fact remains that you have to shove bad routes down your throat like Saki in Never 7. I personally think that half the routes in Ever 17 were weak. He has delivered some good things (I'd like to try 12 Riven), but with ZTD his credit has come to an end. I feel he's burned out like G R R Martin. No one can keep delivering groundbreaking works time and time again. Not even Urobuchi.
  5. KonpekiUmi, about your dream: in Rome, do as Romans do, but... - Japanese are fiercely proud of themselves and their culture, they're also fiercely xenophobic (I don't think I'm exaggerating...). I mean, they love to visit other places, but are very reluctant to let other people become a part of the country (and with good reason, but maybe they're too cloistered). Taking scholarships as an example, they only let the most brilliant people in and ask a lot from them. If you manage to get a Japanese citizenship it's likely you get some form of discrimination. That means that a foreign light novel writer would be viewed with suspicion, you'd probably have to assume a pseudonym and the like. Look at how, in ef VN, the male lead writes shoujo manga and has to use a pseudonym for fear of being found out as a guy that makes that. It would look... unsightly. Probably so a foreign LN writer. - Can you beat the Romans at what the Romans do? I don't doubt you've consumed tons of anime and Japanese media, but that doesn't guarantee you success in the Japanese market. You have to take the different mindset into consideration. - Some dreams are achievable, easily or not, while some are pretty far away and we're better off using our energy in other endeavours. Your decision to get an education is right and you should pursue it. After you graduate and maybe earn some money you can actually consider moving to Japan (or someplace else) and living your life as you like. Maybe it's not really an impossible dream, only unlikely. I know a Spanish youtuber who's presently living in Japan, but I don't know if he'll make it his permanent residence or he's just passing by.
  6. No, I meant that his attitude is dangerous. I don't care if he has a huge following or if many people willingly walk hand in hand to annihilation like lemmings, his ideas are wrong. With "annihilation" I don't mean to say that we're necessarily going to a global enveloping war that would destroy the world, but hey, the balance is really precarious in some places of the world. Trump is aggressive and aggressiveness is what leads to war. I understand that the downfall of the West and especifically Europe has been too much political correctness, naivety and weakness to act pragmatically. But Trump is not just this, he's aggressiveness taken to the extreme, he's a borderline hooligan. There's no changing him no matter how much you want to blanket your eyes and reason. Will it spell disaster? Probably no, but potentially yes. But this is no place to discuss Trump's leitmotivs and identity as a politician, since more or less everyone knows already.
  7. Yeah, if you really like a work, I suggest you both watch the anime and play the novel.
  8. Cut short content? Come oooon. Angel Beats, and especially Charlotte have a premise that barely fuels the content in the current episode count. Charlotte feels as if it actually had filler. ON A 12-EPISODE SHOW. Geez. If you look analitically and leave appreciation for Key aside, those shows are reduced to practically barebones if you discount a few aspects. Indeed, Charlotte is bad enough overall to bring down even the most die-hard Key fan. Angel Beats is slightly better, but never a masterpiece. It's a very imbalanced show whose elements have a shocking disharmony between them.
  9. You missed the point. It's not whether he'll build a wall or not in the end, it's the fact that he wants to build it in the first place, and goes babbling about it. It's his attitude which is wrong. And with said attitude, anything can happen, and probably not good. As for VNs, the question lies in whether he'll get aware someday of the content of some games roaming around. Steam already axes most problematic content, but if Trump would find about the community and our thingies, he'd probably get very upset. Remember he wanted to make America great again. Do weeaboos fit in that grand picture? That's no excuse. If you have access to Google and Wikipedia, you can do your own research. I don't care to explain PMRC at the moment.
  10. Catalonia/Basque Country/Quebec is deeply unlikely in the USA. At least here, they push a nationalist agenda that's rooted on different identity -different language, different customs, different culture. This isn't true even in Spain, much less in the case of America. How is Texas essentially different from New York? Not enough differences to create another country, I think. Moreover, the very concept of the USA already allows for a lot of independence in laws and government from one State to the next.
  11. About the VN thing -major aspects like censorship or import regulations can be influenced by a particular direction in power. That's law. Trump wants to build a gigantic wall to keep immigrants away, so it wouldn't be surprising if he wanted to starve Japanese media fans away, too. He'd probably view some works as obscene, provided he got to know about them. Damn, don't you know about the 80s and the PMRC? And Trump's ascension is an actual problem. Not for his followers, of course, but in truth, probably for everyone under the Sun.
  12. Is this some numerology thing? 420 looks sharp and elegant, but otherwise, does it have any deeper meaning?
  13. I respect people not wanting to talk about politics. That's your decision. But politics have a heavy weight on the everyday life on this planet, like it or not. It may even come down to VNs even. Politics influence the state of affairs, globally and locally. It's an important matter.
  14. Candidates aren't suddenly known after they win. People should know beforehand what they are voting. Deceit exists, but most things can be seen from miles away. That requires you to research and keep informed, however.
  15. Trump is America. ..................... ................................. So say we all!
  16. Indeed, the God-Emperor of Mankind, sitting on His Golden Throne.
  17. I thought Starless was aimed to masochists, as opposed to sadists like the OP asks. Same humiliation, but different viewpoint.
  18. From the makers of Euphoria... I present... Natsu no Kusari ("Summer Chain"). Untranslated yet, came out this year, it consists of keeping a schoolgirl as your sex slave, and forcing her to do obscene things, rape included, watching her piss on a bucket included. I thought I could read this one, and the very first sentence put me off. I don't know how I am gonna figure out the kanji, without furigana and no voice (in the narration, I mean). I'll use the trusty JDIC. Anyway, my progress is gonna be a crawl.
  19. "Sleep lightly, taskmaster." --Montaron
  20. Isn't the institutional left the same everywhere, though? They make really bad losers. If they win, however, all is lollipops and rainbows.
  21. Excellent writing? My God. Charlotte's stupid explanation about the special powers also belongs to PA Works? The latter episodes are a constant facepalm. Key's shortcoming is that they try to put everything into their works. Angel Beats is the perfect example: one minute we have a comedic scene, fast forward a little and we have drama with abrupt transition. It's just jarring. The watcher is shaken to and fro without any real point.
  22. Hope Trump appeases Putin and avoids a World War Three (much like Reagan). But, as far as I know, Trump is a populist (one of many in the world). He'd do anything to improve his domestic image. So, if one day in America they wake up warlike, war it is.
  23. I'm pretty sure they do. At least I caught a glimpse of Key's logo in the openings. Another thing is Visual Arts, Key's parent company, but Key seem to have an anime division and a VN one. Refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_(company) The visual aspect was done by PA Works, as well as the direction probably, but the concept belongs to Key. In any case, AB and Charlotte are a symptom of the decline of Maeda's writing. The man has been doing practically the same through and through, and when he finally does something different, "kaboom!" Even though, we can't just put the blame about Rewrite onto him; I think he was involved in the product, but only in general lines. The shitty writing of Rewrite belongs to other people.
  24. "With doom we come!" --The Lord of the Rings, Last March of the Ents
  25. I must be a hero then, for I finished it (took me dear months though), and would go for round 2 if it releases on Steam with the Whatever Edition (I forget the name). I do remember though, that I picked the Little Busters franchise reluctantly, I dropped the anime early on but picked it again later and then I watched it fully. With all things Key, I guess you have to put up with, or ignore the things you don't like and remain there for the good things, such as the drama (there are people who deeply hate Key's drama, however). With Little Busters, I had low expectations for the novel from watching the anime before, and it probably counted too. All in all, I think Little Busters' routes vary greatly in quality... but as in any novel with 5+ routes, I guess. Plus, probably the writers were different.
