  1. Hi! Sorry to randomly post on your wall, but I noticed your name on the "browsing" section at the bottom of the page and hadn't seen your username before. Looks like you signed up today. Welcome!

  2. Well, that's awesome. And, again, we're glad to have you. : ) You'll have to let me know how you end up liking Tears. I haven't played it yet, and am curious to get people's reactions.
  3. Glad to have you with us! I enjoyed your first post. I found it a very practical way to evangelize VNs : ). I got into VNs without any significant exposure to anime/manga/Japanese culture. Katawa Shoujo just kind of came out of nowhere and blew me away with amazing storytelling (plus the way VNs are so interactive and personal). I was a little insecure about the Japanese animation "thing" for a long time after that, though. Not necessarily because of the colors/quirks of the art style, but because of American otaku stereotypes.
  4. Ah, right, that's really true. I'm in the middle of Hesig's Remember the Kanji (book 1). Have a little over 700 left. After that, I'll move on to grammar (Tae Kim's book). I've got the kana down, so I'm just waiting to finish grinding out my 2200 joyo+other kanji : )
  5. Hey, awesome to have you! How long ago did you discover visual novels?
  6. You got it! Check your PM inbox.
  7. Alright, I just finished Angel Beats. Wow. That was really something. A big thanks to everybody who suggested it. What a wonderful thing. ---------------------- Time passes ---------------------- Okay, now I can think straight again. So. A few thoughts: I need to look into the original writers/translators of AB. At multiple times -- especially during the last few episodes -- the wording made me think that one of the writers or translators had some background in my particular faith. It was all used in a really specific (and totally beautiful) way, but kept my eyebrows raised the whole time.Steve -- Okay, I put in LOTS of hours and absolutely loved Angel Beats. Now it's your turn. You have to play chapter 1 of Katawa Shoujo now : )Now I have to choose the next show to watch... so many suggestions! So many choices. Thanks, everyone!
  8. Amazing work. I LOVE it. Take a +1
  9. (Steve! What the heck are you doing here? You have NO RIGHT to be here unless you submit to your conscience (aka: me) and start playing KS.)
  10. Okay, so before I get around to welcoming you to the Fuwanovel forums, I have to thank you -- really thank you -- for two things. Firstly, I have studied both Russian and Japanese (fluent in Russian, Kanji-stage in Japanese) and have ALWAYS tried to put a certain feeling into words about learning/speaking/reading foreign languages. For the first time in my life, it has been expressed for me. Bless you. Secondly, thank you for your amazing work! I'm playing your games right now, and I really appreciate the way you are able to come out with a natural-sounding English product. Excellent work. With that out of the way, welcome! Really, really glad to have you!
  11. I have much enjoyed the hilarity of this thread. If you can't find anything on Aaeru's To-Do list which matches your skills, then may I please request that you follow me around and comment unceasingly about anything and everything? I have a feeling my life would be much enriched by it. There's been some discussion about making site rules. As it stands, there is only one. And it is directed solely at Steve. Thou Shalt Play Katawa Shoujo. Now.
  12. That's awesome! I came into the VN world through Katawa Shoujo, which I found through google. Truth is: I have no memory as to what brought me to KS in the first place... All the same, I found Fuwanovel in August of last year, and have been here ever since : ).
  13. I think this is a fantastic idea. Good wording, too.

Oh, goodness. This was my great dilemma, too. I definitely play my Vita more (Persona 4 Golden is, quite honestly, amazing), but the 3DS has a much bigger variety of games. If you decide on the 3DS, I'd REALLY recommend saving up for the 3DS XL -- the screen size makes a big difference. Very true. I know exactly what you mean. The fun battle/leveling mechanics are the only reason I keep coming back.
  15. First: I have several "Guest Passes" which give you 100% access for a few weeks to try it out for free. If anybody (Steve?) wants to try one, let me know and I'll PM you the info Second: Crunchyroll is a manifestation of my personal consumer theory. It's the way I give back to the anime-world. In the realm of visual novels, if I love a game, I will buy/import it as a sign of support (my next buy will be the Vita release of FSN). Similarly, if a game has an official translation, I will pay for it (either in addition to, or rather than, getting a fan translation) in order to show official demand in US-English markets. I have no ethical problem with torrenting, but like Aaeru suggests on the main site's FAQ, if I like a product I am 100% motivated to commercially voicing my support. Third: Wow, these are awesome suggestions! Thank you! (and please, feel free to keep them coming!) EDIT: Fourth - Hey, so I looked at this image as suggested above, and I didn't see anything about the Kokoro Connect OVAs that are supposed to be coming out soon. Since I'm new to Anime, where do I go to find out about my favorite shows and their upcoming OVAs/etc.?

It's funny you brought this up when you did! I just found a super-cheap HeartGold at the local GameStop, and have been using it as a reward for study sessions : ). I started with Red, too, played Yellow, Gold, Emerald, and am currently playing Black. Too much? Probably. Still, I love them Pokemon. Speaking of which, the upcoming 3DS games (X/Y) look really cool. Think you'll play 'em?
  17. So, as many of you know, I'm pretty darn new to anime. So new, that Sword Art Online was essentially my first love. Fate/Zero was my second. Then we get down to other favorites like Kokoro Connect, Say I Love You, OreImo, and more. Let me cut to the chase: I'm a proud subscriber to Crunchyroll and want to know which shows I should be watching from either this current line of simulcasts (link), or other shows they host (ex: here's the winter 2013 lineup). Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I don't know which shows are popular vs. critically acclaimed vs. awesome. I will also add that I just finished watching PMMM (Puella Magi Madoka Magica), and thought it was surprisingly good. Definitely not what I was told to expect from the magical girl genre (which, I think, is why all the critics loved it). It's therefore worth pointing out that I have ZERO experience or preconceived notions about any "genres" or character types. I'm as green as they get, essentially.
  18. Welcome! Glad to have you! Yeah, the blog has been moved to http://visualnovelaer.fuwanovel.net/ . It's up, operational, but still needs some reformatting. How long have you been VN-ing? Oh, and to Steve: Oh Steve, Steve, Steve... you still didn't start it?
  19. Steve... how many times are we going to do this, huh? You're going to love it. The disabilities are treated extremely maturely and well. You're going to love it. So go play it. Now. (to heck with your to-read list) ; )
  20. Good ideas, but they're looking too far ahead imo. Surely, as walkthrough content increases, we can look into changing titles of the posts and make it a little more organized. For now, most of us will be creating English walkthroughs, and the topic names will simply be the name of the game.
  21. To your second point: yes, the feedback/submissions/corrections topics would be open to anybody who has a walkthrough to submit. Once it is cleared, then a game-topic would be created. The walkthrough author would be given the permissions necessary to create their walkthrough topic, etc. Your first point is well-articulated and a great idea. Looking at the feedback so far, this is the way I'm seeing each walkthrough (and all walkthroughs will have to follow an identical structure): (I'd love to hear suggestions for improving this!!) ---------------------------------------------- Example Post - Formatting ---------------------------------------------- Title 500x500px Image of Game Game Synopsis - Copy + paste from fuwanovel's game page, or taken from VNDB, for instance. Must be rewritten if the synopsis includes any moderate-to-large spoilers Route Organization - Explain the route systems. For each game this will be different. Pictures of heroines/heroes optional but suggested if they look good : ) Routes: (click on the name of the route to be taken to the relevant walkthrough) [Optional Pic of Hero/Heroine 1] Heroine/Hero 1 Good End True End Bad End 1 Bad End 2 Bad End 3 etc. [Optional Pic of Hero/Heroine 2] Heroine/Hero 2 Good End True End Bad End 1 Bad End 2 Bad End 3 etc. (With each route being a hyperlink to a response below)
  22. I think most people feel the same way. In my head, we'd make ALL walkthroughs as spoiler-free as possible (either the exact text from the choice, or a clear but obfuscated reference). I don't think BG-color is ideal (we want this to be user-friendly. After all, we've got people like Harry out there, and thus need to make this simple) Well, this is a great point. I think that we'll try to have a walkthrough-step for EVERY choice, even if it says something like "(Any Choice Okay)" for that step.
  23. Lilly's Route - Good Ending Spoiler-Free Walkthrough - Choices - Yeah of course - Ask about the library - Play defensively - Hi I am new here - She was cute - Talk to Hanako - Maybe (Doc asks to do running) - Cut me and Lilly some slack - Sorry, I’m not in a very good condition - Walk around town (etc.)
  24. Held for route
