  1. Hey, all. I'm looking for feedback and interested parties for a new section of the forums that I think would become a great addition to the site: Walkthroughs. Before I build a proof-of-concept, I'd like to demonstrate how it would function, and get your feedback. Structure On the main forums page, under "Visual Novel Discussion" there would be a new forum added. It would look as follows: Inside the "Walkthroughs" forum would be one topic for each game, with a sticky-ed topic for feedback/error reporting. This forum would be locked so only Admins/Staff could create new topics (for new games). Each Topic (post) would start with the name of the game and a list of the routes in the game. The name of each route would be hyperlinked to the "reply" in that topic where the walkthrough could be found. When the game topic is first created, the author would "save" enough replies immediately after the first post for each route in the game. This will be demonstrated at the end of this post. ---- So, if you would, let me know what you think of this idea, and of the implementation! ---------------------------------------------- Example ---------------------------------------------- Katawa Shoujo Routes: (click on the name of the route to be taken to the relevant walkthrough) Hanako's Route - Good Ending Lilly's Route - Good Ending etc ... etc ... etc ...
  2. A little ditty -- totally original -- penned for our hero, Vax, on this day:
  3. So this is just the doctor in me talking, but if nothing else you should really consider a multivitamin. They're cheap, last forever, and will do wonders in keeping you alive, healthy and energetic. That aside... I find myself eating popcorn and drinking water when I play VNs. I snack way more than I should, though, especially when reading. Luckily I manage the complex wherein I live, and thus have 24-hour access to the gym.
  4. You and me both, brother. I'll echo the suggestion for Sharin no Kuni. Great game. Each heroine shares traits with Hanako.

    Happy birthday!

  6. Oh, flip! Downloading... Downloading... CANNOT BELIEVE IT! PS: Categorized under books.... Interesting...
  7. I like all the ideas put out so far. I think regardless of where this goes, we should start with a test stream -- maybe an hour-long test run one weekend to make sure we're set up and ready to do this. Narcissu could be a good candidate. After that hour, we could switch the stream and check out InvertMouse's goods . The next step is to choose a streaming service and chat mechanism. Video StreamingFuwanovel has a twitch.tv channel. We could invite contributors like InvertMouse, but host the regular sessions there. If we went with that option, we could upload the latest save game after every session so people could jump in and play along any time. I don't know a while lot about the other services out there. I've heard there are even ways to utilize Skype... Chatting During the StreamsI don't know a lot about this. Twitch.tv gives some chat options, but I don't think audio chat is one of them. There is always the fuwanovel IRC channel. Is audio chat important? Any ideas?

    My Intro

Welcome! Glad to have you. Which games have you played?

    Heya

Depends on which side of Yekaterinburg you're on ; ). (Fun fact: I actually personally visited the Europe-Asia border and took all the sorts of pictures you'd expect there)

    Heya

Welcome! Glad to have you! You had a hard time finding the forums, huh? Any suggestions for making that easier? So you're "East", huh? Is that Europe-east, or Asia-east, or Africa-east, or Australia-east-ish? In any case, just by participating you're helping the cause : )
  11. This is a really common problem. Have no fear, though -- I've talked to lots of Vista users who managed to get it working. Take a look at the advice given on this topic: Make sure to check out the advice spelled out in the spoiler tag. If that doesn't work for you, let us know and we'll keep rubbing our brain cells together : )
  12. Excellent work. Thanks a lot. Regarding Torrents -- I personally don't have access to the torrents, but once that's fixed we'll absolutely fix that or post a workaround.
  13. I've been looking at the CSS and am trying to figure out where to make the change. I've never used IP board before, so it may take me a bit... Edit: I think that did it! Please report any problems this causes! Test (East of Eden)

Steve, Steve, Steve... once again you see the error of your ways... It's time you came to the light and started your Jedi training. Katawa Shoujo awaits.

    Hello

We're definitely happy to have you! Welcome. Wow, that's a great list. Please do tell about your 1st and favorite routes in Katawa Shoujo. KS was my first visual novel, and Lilly was my first route. Wow. Loved it. Fate/Stay Night was my 2nd, and my list is pretty similar from there on with yours. Looks like we have great taste ; )
  16. Welcome! Isn't VNDS just the best? I'm loving having VNs at my fingertips wherever I go. How are you enjoying Cross Channel?
  17. Welcome! Please pull up a chair, enjoy the shrimp and veggie tempura, and share a story or two. We'd all love to hear about your favorite VNs. ... Just beware the resident Demon-Lord Harry Kinomoto...
  18. You know... I don't know what to think about this one. Type-Moon always does a great job, and the art certainly could use an upgrade... Yet I hesitate. I can't help but think my hesitation is based in nostalgia.
  19. Lol, but doesn't that mean the host has to be up 24 hours clicking away? That's a long time for anybody to be able to spare (let alone stay awake). I suppose it's possible to switch between hosts, and maybe at each switch upload a save point for the next host/any followers to jump right in... Could be cool?
  20. Quick Add-In: I like the idea of having a beginner's section -- I think that would be a fantastic addition to the forums and (perhaps) main site.
  21. Little Busters sounds like a great choice to me, too. I've been trying to think about how to find an ideal time to stream -- (since we're all over the world) (so cool. Have you thought about that? We're gonna be playing a Visual Novel -- one of the solo-ist of solo-ventures, with friends all over the world) -- and all I can think of is we choose a time in one part of the world, and everybody converts it to their own using http://www.timezoneconverter.com/ . I'm going to assume that a weekend would be best for most of us?
  22. (I love this topic idea. Well, well done) (Edit: And we know it's going to be a great discussion because, after all, a Luck Dragon debuted on post #4 ; )) My Second Visual Novel - Fate Route When I finished Fate/Stay Night (Fate route), I sat back from my computer, turned off the speakers (the menu music was playing), and struggled to breathe through minor heartbreak and tear-blurred eyes. Phrases like, "Wow..." and "How did they do that?" floated through my mind. My heart ached for Saber (and all the characters, really), and I kept replaying the last few scenes in my head. My thoughts then went to, "How and why did that so powerfully affect me?" I thought a lot about Saber, and how she embodied a lot of the things I loved most about my wife. It was ~4:45 in the morning, my wife was asleep but soon to be waking, and so I remember slipping into the bedroom, snuggling up to her and kissing the back of her head. And then I fell asleep. What followed was 2-3 days of wondering whether or not I wanted to immediately continue on to the next F/SN game route (I ultimately waited two weeks), and then after lunch I started Sharin no Kuni.
  23. Sakamoto-san strikes again with freakin' awesome android app resources!
  24. I'm sad to say that it's complicated. In any event, we all need to be sending Aaeru, Ryoji and several others in our community our best thoughts, encouragements and prayers. They've each had a hard few weeks, and I know they appreciate the friendship that has been shown by this community. I appreciate and echo the feelings ilegend expressed elsewhere on the forum in these words,
  25. As far as the original idea of Twitch.tv goes, we actually have an official fuwanovel user account! We've talked and talked about making this happen, but if anybody's seriously interested I think we should speak up and make it happen : ). (I'm in, for one.) Besides voicing interest in participating, we should have a few recommendations for the game to play, and then maybe do a poll. So... maybe we could do it as follows? For those interested in doing this sometime in the next little while, post the following data tidbits: #1) Are you in? #2) Relative timezone #3) Recommended Game (just a suggestion, if you can think of a better way to do this please post it) I've never used teamspek before, but that's certainly an interesting thought and worth looking at. This is the third time this sort of thing has been mentioned. I really haven't meant to be cryptic in my comments. Honest. : )
