I think ASFOS and Cross Channel had at least a year or two work on them... and a couple of months I guess for those Lovekami spin-offs. I think it will take at least some time now for Moenovel to announce anything else... unless I am wrong in this assumption, their next announcement could come only in a year from now. Give them time to butcher something else. That is, If they don't finally give up, which would be good for us.

MangaGamer's 2018 Licensing Survey is up!
Infernoplex replied to NowItsAngeTime's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Of course, nothing I voted for got on the list. Oh well... -
Yeah, I know. A bad VN can be saved (somewhat) by a good translation (meaning captivating prose, well-written sentences) and vice-versa (good VN can be ruined by a bad translation). I know that. Take my earlier comment as my impression of the poorer version of Cross Channel. I am still interested in CC, and would have read it again now, had it got a much better translation, just so I can measure my impression of it with a better TL. Sadly, Moenovel's version certainly isn't the one that would improve my opinion of CC, so it's the one worth skipping. That being said, since you mentioned Grisaia... rare are translators of Koestl quality xD I think we can count all the really good translators on our fingers since there aren't that many of them.

I actually read through this entire VN with Ixrec's translation and managed to enjoy it to a certain degree despite all of the translation flaws. Still, even with a better TL, I doubt my impression of Cross Channel would have been much better (I rated it 7/10 on VNDB). There are some things I just dislike about Cross Channel. I am not sure if it's only due to lack of the translation quality, but I simply couldn't enjoy some plot developments that seemed so out of the loop, and my impression of the VN was constantly going like "wow, this is so goood!", to "man, this is shit", and then again "aaaaah! Amazing!" and again "what garbage!"... Maybe it's the translation, maybe it's the VN itself... I dunno. I just hated some sections of it that made me very annoyed.

Ah, I am not surprised by that, it was to be expected. Moenovel isn't hiring competent enough people for the job.

I am not going to comment on the prose since it's not my area of expertise (though I do agree it leaves much to be desired), but that text font and that color and that background don't match very well for any kind of acceptable reading experience. Granted, this is only from NVL, I am yet to see how it reads in ADV sections.

Even the very first 5 minutes of it look godawful.

SQUEEZ games and the EAGLS engine
Infernoplex replied to nativegypsy's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
You will need a hacker for that to take a look at. When I had that problem with putting stuff back into the game, I needed somebody who was more tech-savvy. -
I know what you are talking about... though, I don't measure fan-translation work and professional work in the same way. And this is coming from somebody who has started reading VNs when the translations weren't all that good to begin with... so you could say I am used to "not the best translations". Even the "kamige of all kamiges" - a.k.a. Fate/Stay Night supposedly had a poor TL (I still see nowadays people who are bashing TakaJun for his work on it), I didn't read it and I can't tell if it's as poor as people make it out to be. Though, I did read Cross Channel by Ixrec... and never felt like it was as bad as people claimed it out to be. In fact, I don't think my impression of Cross Channel would have changed any significantly, even if the TL of it was any better. That being said, I can't for the love of God complain about a fanTLer who isn't a professional writer himself to make a "literature-esque" translation. In fact, I think very few VNs can rank highly in this category. But I do understand and respect people who are trying to make their work stand out as really good. And I believe you are one of those rare few who really are critical of their own work, which is already worthy of respect. I don't know many people, especially not in the fanTL category who really look in their translation and always feel the need for improvement in writing. For that, I salute you, Sir!

That sounds interesting to be honest. I was never a fan of long common routes and then short heroine routes (makes it pretty anti-climatic). This might even be the best Pulltop VN if all the praise I have been hearing about it is warranted. Same thing with my project. I wasn't sure should I go public but since I never saw Moenovel acting upon Konosora nor KoiRizo, I thought I might as well do it since they don't seem to care at all.

In any case, I wish you guys luck. It's definitely a good project to do, and a good VN at that. By the way, I think I know somebody who "maybe" is interested in helping you guys out (if I am not making a wrong assumption that is...) ... I don't know whether you know it already, but I saw this guy here named Beichuuka talking about doing something related to Haruka ni Aogi already. If you hadn't already, maybe you should contact him to see if it was just trolling or not. I am not saying he was TLing or anything, but maybe he was. I remembered this thread when I saw the project page of yours.

Yeah, I know. It's kinda scary. I think this is the longest VN developed by Pulltop... For references, full Miagete Goran has "only" 45k of lines in comparison. So this is like more than 2 times bigger a VN than Miagete... I dread to imagine how long would it take it for me to read it. I think this is Dies irae level of text (though I am not sure how many lines Dies irae had).
-
Yeah, I think he already did a lot for this community. Making him do one whole translation again, and of such great length would be too much. I hope somebody volunteers, but I know it's hard to find anybody who would be interested, and especially of a VN that has so many lines. I consider even 7.5k a lot, much less to speak of 100k.
-
Wish you all the luck of this world to see this one through. I already know that this VN has tons of lines (I think it's like 100k if I remember correctly when I checked sometime earlier), which makes this a considerable amount of text to go through... and not just that, it's one of those "kamige"-tier stuff (I dunno if it's anything like Grisaia since I didn't read it, but I heard from some people that they call it "better Grisaia"), so it would require a really good translation to make this proper.

SQUEEZ games and the EAGLS engine
Infernoplex replied to nativegypsy's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
I know, ever since I found out about them, I couldn't help but wonder why MangaGamer never picked up any of their stuff. Nukige-wise, those seem like a very good pick. And most of those seemed pretty vanilla from what I could tell based on CGs. Definitely kind of stuff I'd "read" through ...
