Mangagamer spoiler announcement, Atelier Sakura
Infernoplex replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I believe you, I didn't read it myself (I am not at that level of Japanese yet), I just stated that for some reason people want this VN and I see it mentioned from time to time ... I am not an avid fan of NTR, it always gives me strange kind of vibes when I think about it, definitively not my favourite type of VNs to read xD Though there could be good ones out there too ... I am mostly interested in NTR with really good art (I have seen recently some of those like Maro no Kanja wa Gatenkei series, Biniku no Kaori, Ningen Debris, Dearest Blue and some other titles), I guess most of them suck in the story department but I can swallow that if it's fappable nukige material, that's why good art is important to me -
Nutaku Announces New Initiative with Sekai Project
Infernoplex replied to RikiSanic's topic in Visual Novel Talk
So if for example they decide that they want to release 18+ Maitetsu, the censorship part would fall on Sekai to do it? Or Nutaku? I've read on sanahtlig's blog that Nutaku is owned by a bigger company that calls the shots and Nutaku has a history of censoring their games, I am just interested on how would they likely handle sensitive content like loli and similiar stuff. -

Speaking of particular NTR, I think this is the real NTR people wanted, I see it mentioned from time to time by fans of NTR and alike xD ... -
@PUBAK - Sorry, I can't read the script files, they are archived in a different format and can't be extracted, I don't have a single clue on how to read it. As for Decay's advice, I think he has a point but don't take it the wrong way, putting your time and effort into fan-translating a VN and then releasing something hard to read shouldn't be your goal. I didn't want to mention that but your TL of the intro does look like it needs a retranslation, I don't know Japanese so I can't really say anything more about the matter. As for the encouragement part (I guess Decay was referring to me), I think that everybody should get a chance. Maybe I am bad for trying to encourage people into doing something they might not be able to accomplish but I certainly don't want to be the guy to tell them to stop. I had one very negative experience in my past when I tried to discourage someone to do something and since then I don't try to do that anymore. Besides, some people tend to get all fired up even more to do something when you tell them to stop, so I kind of avoid doing that, it's of no use telling that to some people. Another thing of note is that even if you released a total garbage of the translation, you wouldn't be the first one to do it. Though you should really try to improve your Japanese skills, if you really want to bring something of use and to feel a sense of accomplishment. It's not really useful if your translated sentences are hard to understand.

@PUBAK - Okay, I have an update for you, I have checked out the game and it uses YU-RIS engine ... which is kind of a bad news for you because I never worked with YU-RIS (it's kind of a shame that I didn't work with it, some popular VNs like euphoria uses it) ... I tried looking for some tools and it appears that on this forum there were people that were working with YU-RIS and from what I have gathered it is kind of a hard engine to work with but not impossible to crack ... So far I have determined which file houses the scripts and I tried a tool that I found and I am not sure right now if it worked ... The file you are trying to get is called "ysbin.ypf" that is located in the game's directory ... The problem right now is that I have yet to determine the version of the .ypf file, the tool I found was last updated in the middle of 2014 and this VN was released in 2015 so I don't know if this tool actually worked, I managed to get .ybn files out of it but I am not sure how to read them, I am getting gibberish when I try with the text editor though on some spots I see clear English words like "SOUNDINFO". "ANTIALIASING" and similiar, I guess that's from the Options menu or something like that ... I will try fiddling with it but don't expect too much, you are kind of in bad luck for picking up a VN with this engine since it isn't that popular with fan-translators ... I will try to find more info, the VN itself looks interesting and I'd like one day to see the translation of it Edit: The version is v464, I just found out.

How to edit font in Queen Of Darkness and GSS?
Infernoplex replied to miinna's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Don't know about the font thing but can you please tell me how did you take the scripts out of Gore Screaming Show? I have the VN but never tried to take its scripts, I thought about doing fan-TL of it one day when I get better in Japanese ... Is it easy to grab the scripts of it? -
Guilty Crown Lost Christmas English Patch
Infernoplex replied to Crysis99's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Yes, I agree, that would be unsatisfactory. I downloaded the patch but will pickup the VN later after I see the anime, thank you -

Oh, I see, thanks for the info, I actually thought that by watching the anime I'd just spoil the VN but in this case it seems to be the opposite Thank you -
Guilty Crown Lost Christmas English Patch
Infernoplex replied to Crysis99's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Congratulations to the team that finished it, I never heard of this VN but I see it's from Nitro+ so I guess it should be good, even if the translation is in a preview version (I think "preview" is not an appropriate word here, I'd rather call it finished TL v1.0 with possible updates if neccesary) ... I might start reading it soon and will let ya know if I find any bugs ... Only thing I want to ask is ... Is this in any way related to any other VNs by Nitro+? Or is it a story for itself? On VNDB I don't see any relations to other Nitro+ VNs and it has only listed an anime connected to this VN ... So I am guessing that I can read this without reading any other VN by Nitro+, I just need to make sure, that's all ^^ ... -
Oh, I see, cool I asked because for a moment I thought it's yuri because of the cover photo, it had those yuri kind of vibes Nevermind, I like to read everything (well not really, BL/Bara is probably one of the only things I don't really like to read)

@PUBAK - Alright, I see, that's bad xD Well, I am going to see if I can help you somehow but don't expect that much, I myself am not really a hacker so I can't really find a way to get the scripts but I will try to determine the engine, that much can be done I guess, though don't put much hope into it, I will tell you if I find something interesting ... By the way, is this a yuri title?

Yessss, did you mean this ELF? They have awesome art, I tested some of their later VNs and was literally amazed by the art, they have a seriously good artist, LiLim Darkness is also good (I think they have many VNs with "Blue" in their title, I think it's NTR too), the third one Mink EGO is unknown to me. But the first two should have some of their VNs localized, if not for the story, just for the art, it's really good ^^ -
@PUBAK - Did you find the hacker for the scripts? I just saw now that in your original post you mentioned that you need one ... Without the scripts you will not be able to even start working on it ... And do you know the engine the VN uses perhaps?
-
Based on VNDB it's a short title so there's a good chance you will be able to finish it, I see that it doesn't have many ratings so it's probably not that popular but if you liked the VN then I don't see the problem with doing the translation for it ... As for the first comment that you got here, don't take it too hard but it's probably related to the fact that lately the VN market in the west has become somewhat bigger then it was before so there's a good chance that maybe one of the VN localization companies will pickup a title from this VN developer ... Though this particual VN developer (initial) seems to be relatively new on the market with only 2 VNs released so far so I guess you could fan-translate their stuff with no problems right now. I don't think any VN localization company would pick them up now because they seem to be unknown in the western world, that's my opinion of it as of the moment.

Most of these seem to be very short OELVNs (only exception being https://vndb.org/v2622), some other Japanese suggestions? Don't have to be translated

Infernoplex replied to littleshogun's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I have seen it this morning when I woke up, on MangaGamer's blog and was quite in wonder because I didn't remember any Atelier Sakura VNs translated by MG ... Anyway, it's NTR and there should be people interested in it Also, Kyuunyuu Fantasy was released today too -
That link I can access with no proxies indeed, thanks.

Yes, I've heard that, those Japanese have different tastes and I wanted to see their ratings, that's all. As for the thumbnails advantage, I can live without it honestly. I am using right now some kind of a script for GreaseMonkey that allows me to see covers of VNs on VNDB when I hover the mouse over the title of the VN (though it works only on tags and VNs list pages, I can't do it everywhere apparently). I think I have found that script somewhere on this forum, somebody posted it, maybe it was recently, I didn't always have it. It's kind of cool, I like it ^^ ... As for the IP, I am also on dynamic so IP white-listing would be of no help to me for EGS.
-
@Qrqe - Yes, that's the RapeLay incident though I think some time has passed since then, it was like 5 years ago or something like that, I am kind of hoping that it will get forgotten someday. And as for the admin of EGS, cool, though I am not really that hardcore about getting on the site right now. The only reason why I wanted to see that site was that I heard it's a Japanese-oriented VNDB, I am almost every day on VNDB now and I wanted to see how Japanese VNDB looks like.
-
I follow your blog so I already read that a while ago. My previous statement on Japan was just a needless question dedicated only to myself (which I decided for some reason to put here too xDD, stupid me I guess ) in hopes that the reality will change someday and a happy ending will ensue. I still vaguely remember the episode with RapeLay and the media outburst over it.

W-O-W!!! O_O Now this is some new info for me ... I knew Japanese eroge developers were a lot into blocking foreign IPs but I didn't know that even EGS does it too O_O I tried going on that site the other day and wondered why I couldn't get to it, now I finally realise that they are blocking foreign IPs ... Dear Japan, why, why do you like to make everything so bothersome -.- ...
-
Uh-oh ... GREAT! ... I guess ... I mean no ... Isn't this the copycat VN that tried to copy Neko Para? From what I have heard it's nothing special though I could be wrong ... I think this is the VN that was mentioned as an example of poor VN sales just recently, I could check out to make sure but I think it was this one.
