  1. Wow, that's some incredible luck you got there! In a matter of fact, I am fucking jelly. I was so eager to get my 10+1 draw as well, to the point I forgot the make a screenshot. On the other hand, I made a bunch afterwards. Here are the results (including the ticket reward from the event): The guaranteed SR: Already obtained cards, which allowed me to idolize my previous rares: And the rest of rares I got from the draw: I'm happy with SR Nico and those additional cards; getting your precious gals idolized is the best thing possible. Time to level them up and I'm already collecting new gems for the next draw; perhaps, I will manage to get another 10+1 draw before this new guarantee ends. It would be awesesome.
  2. I don't feel the competition that much, but it might be me just being forever 2000-4000.
  3. "Wanting to make" and actually "working" on a game are two, completely different things.
  4. Today's the last day of the event. If I remember correctly, it will last till tommorow's noon, depending on the timezone. If you haven't tried hard enough yet, now's the time.
  5. The way it works, you place the best available leader in the middle (in accordance to song's main stat as well), weakest cards around her and the strongest on far sides for maximum score; though it depends on the song and number of hits/notes, it's the most efficient setup in most cases. In a lot of situations, good guest character makes a huge difference as well. I'm slowly starting to train in hard songs right now, since I was mainly avoiding them so far; when the event ends I won't cry anymore to lose LP on them. The funny thing was that after grinding the first song in hard and finally getting a good grip, then reverting back to later, normal songs made me feel their earlier, more difficult parts a piece of cake. Practice makes perfect, indeed. On a sidenote, they should add some sort of an unlimited training mode for different difficulties so players could finally have some sort of a sandbox to train; right now you basically have to sacrifice your precious LP in the beggining to be able to learn during hardmode song playthroughs and there's a really low chance anyone will do them perfectly on first try; at times it can become frustrating.
  6. Typical gaijin gamer being completely oblivious about Japan's current state of affairs. Little does he know that visual novels and dating sims are a complete niche, with not even the slightest chance to have any actual impact on japanese population. On the other hand, this is a great time for us to actually move to Japan, if someone's interested. A while ago I read an interesting article that the assertive part of female population is actually annoyed at their men and desperate enough they wouldn't mind to be in a difficult relationship with a foreigner, haha. Take your chance, guys! On a more serious note, declining birthrate isn't the sole issue connected with people having different views and thus refusing to start a family and have children of their own. More people, including the goverment are actually worried that soon there won't be enough people within their productive period to actually support the remaining, non-working and aging part of their society. Those numbers are mind-boogling. If not entirely now, it will become a huge issue in the near future to the point, the japanese goverment is seriously considering to encourage young foreigners with possibilities (as in, knowledge of japanese and education appropriate to their labor market) to actually move to Japan. If anyone ever thought about "living their dream", right now's the best time to start learning japanese and seriously consider all the eventual possibilities; you never know what might happen next.
  7. I'd say players definately value those cards differently, but from system's perspective it will be always five stones, no matter how you look at it. But it's definately worth helping yourself with stones, if you're very close to the limit and worry that there might not be enough time left to do it the most basic way. Guess I'll grab the LL batches and start watching. Summer season looks incredibly bland, therefore I'll have more than enough free space to watch a bunch of older shows. I still managed to get that Umi yesterday, but looking at the current rankings it might be hard to fit in the top 4000; I'm already prepared to use a few more stones just in case.
  8. I did so much grinding today; it's actually worth to use a few stones and pursue for 11k points to get that Umi. As long as it's below 5 stones, it's actually worth to push it that far - you're basically paying for a guaranteed SR card; right now as the time is slowly running out, I'd say that sacrificing 10 stones in my case can still be considered a decent choice since, as it will not only help me to get the Umi but place in 2000-4000 rank, which gives a ticket worth another 5 stones; in other words, it's a good exchange and well worth the effort, especially considering the fact I went from around 7k to 10k+ in just few hours. As of now, I used up 3 or 4 stones and have around 900 points left to go; if it takes me even less than 10 stones, the more I will only gain out of it. Speaking of unlucky, I had a massive draw today - around 30-35 normal draws from points + one free draw and not a single rare, untill the very end. And then, I got a smile Nico. Along with previous Maki, finally a smile duo :3
  9. Ever heard about friendzoning? Friendship is always the first level of interpersonal relationships; any possibilities on further development depend on a multitude of different factors, such as mutual atractiveness, psychological issues, social factors and even things we aren't typically aware of cause they are transmitted on a subconcious level. Longlasting friendships between people of different sexes are a rarity, simply because they aren't bound to happen - they evolve to something more sooner or later; it's natural when that girl or guy hangs around with all the time, it's not only because he "likes" you; they do so, because they also feel attracted, or more precisely - you attract them. That said, if someone doesn't find you sexually attractive, but otherwise likes you very much, chances of being friendzoned grow expotentially.
  10. It's all about design and gameplay. You'd first have to ask yourself what truly defines a game and perhaps - what remains a "good", or rather - a meaningful game. Back in the old days, we were much more limited; higher emphasis often went not into the graphics, or sound, but mainly the game mechanics and simple ideas were often the most fun. Take Archon for example. I spent days and days playing it with my dad and sis back in the old days when C64 ruled the world; it had simple graphics and sound, and in overall was nothing more than a variation on a chess game - but with such a twist! When two pieces clashed, the game turned into arena-styled battle game and each piece had it's distinct pros and cons. It was even possible to beat such dangerous foes like a bishop with a mere pewn, provided a player was good enough to do so. Ideas are often important as well. I'm not saying they are the soul of a game, since in the end only execution matters, but good games are often works of art; they always remain stylish and distinct in that sense that even if the graphics are simple, they will have that something "special". It's what made games like Cave Story very succesful as well; people fell in love with it's retro stylistics and simplified gameplay, which still managed to sport so much variety within the gameplay. I'd say that good games are often very challenging; they don't need to be ridicolously hard, but there's always that "line", visible within that distinguishes casuals from hardcore gamers, while still allowing everyone to enjoy everything. I won't say modern games are bad, not at all. We still get very nice titles that prove the game industry is progressing onwards and there's a lot more to discover; the only issue is that most creators nowadays create games that don't contain any real content, only form. They have nice graphics and everything, stories written by the biggest scenario writers, scores composed by famous musicians but they always lack something, including a soul. It's perhaps why I reverted to retro gaming over the last few years and generally hold older games in much higher regard than any of the new titles; there's something in it, indeed, since most of modern games don't amuse me anymore.
  11. What if this would be a Rin card?!
  12. Yeah, actually you're right. It might be true Planetarian doesn't get as much attention as other Key games, because becomes forgotten preety easily, even though it remains superior to most of them; being widely different from the rest might just make it a black sheep amongst Key's works. I wouldn't look at VNDB's scoring in general, when it comes to judge whether a particular visual novel remains overrated or underrated; most of games on VNDB, especially the popular ones tend to get horrendously overrated. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to discuss games which are good and should be known to a wider audience, while they remain obscure in reality.
  13. Planetarian remains a very underrated visual novel. It's unusual how few people actually know about it's existence, more over when a lot of them remain fans of Key's works. I felt Planetarian left a lot bigger impact on me than whole Clannad, or Kanon; it's one of those very few stories that truly pass what they were meant to tell.
  14. If I keep this up, it's actually possible for me to get that SR Umi as well; with current pace I can expect to get it just before the event ends. Still, I'm more impatient to just get that 10+1 draw.
  15. I got a smile Maki today ^^ That's the second one already! I might end up like this in a while. I really need a Nico now.
  16. Cast aside everything. OVA was the best. Dat Deko x Mori, rawr.
  17. Chūnibyō Demo Koi ga Shitai remains one of the very best series from the past seasons. Definately worth watching and really enjoyable.
  18. Speaking of ranking, seems like it started - even tho I did a lot more successful event song sessions today than any other day, I'm falling rapidly and at ~3100 at the moment. Things look rather bleak. People must be using gems already. Considering the ticket is worth 5 gems, it might be a good idea to sacrifice 2-3 of them to get it, but it's way too early for that yet.
  19. INB4 double Umi draw from the event. I'd laugh my ass off.
  20. Got my 50th gem ヽ(´▽`)/ Too bad now I will have to wait those few more days before I'll do that draw.
  21. Define "sexual norm". In the end, what you get is actually just a voice of majority. It's the exact same as with democracy being an opressive state of the masses against the rest. Even if we're talking about moral norms, they have nothing to do with sexuality, since everything is purely subjective and each place on this planet abides by different sets of rules. You can't convince people raised in a strict moral enviroment; the same thing that feds people with arguments to justify homophobic and xenophobic behaviour towards everything which is different to protect their blessed state of affairs. I find it funny people always take those lighthearted topics so seriously. Learn to enjoy what you get and don't forget that something you may not like, isn't necesarilly something, someone will dislike as well; Having choices is good.
  22. I missed additional session in the morning (yeah, too lazy to wake up on time) and it made me fall to 2800. Actually, as long as I'll be able to survive around this till the end, it's going to be fine. I could use an additional ticket. I got another rare yesterday. This time it was a pure Umi.
  23. Almost at 50 gems. I presume it's best to wait till the event ends before the 10+1 draw? Be gentle, p-please.
  24. You enjoy mostly everything that has "cute" written on it, Nosebleed. I didn't expected Knights of Sidonia will be so good. Might actually marathon some older series I missed this weekend. not sure which, though.
  25. I'm around 5072 points; can't seem to get past the 2000 ranking. By the way, why am I falling in love with Rin.
