  1. See, I was under the impression that you, much like me, would also like this anime. I still don't know why I like it, though.
  2. I think the important television people and sponsors would get really mad if they did that as opposed to just mad. Recap episode it is.
  3. Wow, I advanced three text lines consecutively by executing an unintended, but dexterous, movement.

I picked up my keyboard, accidentally clicking 'enter', whilst moving my mouse, and I accidentally hit said mouse in the keyboard, clicking the left mouse button in the process, and by hitting the keyboard my finger slipped, scrolling down the mouse wheel as well.

Therefore, I clicked 'enter', 'left mouse button' and scrolled down in quick succession, advancing three lines.
You've got nothing on these skillz.

You should go into Major League Visual Novel Gaming, I'm sure they'd accept your sweet skillz.

That's got nothing on my "accidentally hold the Ctrl button for several seconds and fast-forward past half a scene" technique.

      Pfffft.

Look at me trying to use Ctrl+Prt Screen to screenshot a scene and skipping the next three altogether.

  4. That is not intended behaviour. Could you explain in more detail how you came across this issue?
  5. kjhzzdQ.png

Well... that's certainly one way to go about conveying information to the reader...

What a random, yet neat feature.

  6. Oh, certainly. I did get the impression the story isn't finished from all their comments, however. I think every single one wrote about how they're looking forward to find out how it goes or how it ends. Not entirely sure if that means they only wrote for a single volume or if they did the 3 volumes. Since one of them mentioned there's more beyond the three volumes, I might have assumed they already finished work for the three volumes. An unwise assumption.
  7. I've finished Kagura's route in LoveKami. By no means is it long enough to warrant individual thoughts, so I'll simply post my thoughts on the game thus far below. I think it's about a 5 hour read to anybody that reads a bit faster than me, and likely shorter to anybody that reads at a reasonable speed. Each route may add about an hour to that, making for a total of 7 or thereabout. Thoughts (no real spoilers): It's not the shortest game I've played, and it's certainly not the worst. I'll conclude by saying I don't believe I am in the target audience for this title, with its lack of substantial romance, and that it's instead a recommended read for fans of Sakura series or ecchi who prefer shorter titles. If you're looking for meaningful drama, romance or... just about anything, really, that is not idols or ecchi, then I'd recommend you play something else. Since it's short, I'll be concluding the other two routes at some point. Who knows if I won't be surprised.
  8. Some interviews to the voice actresses were released on the website. One of the quotes interested me particularly: "Tanezuki Atsumi here, voice of Murasaki. I hope Grisaia fans new and old will enjoy the game! Plenty more is planned after the first three volumes, so please look forward to the future of Phantom Trigger!" So, it would appear that this will be an incomplete story after all, as earlier speculated. I don't exactly mind the approach, but I am interested in see how it'll be handled.
  9. To clarify, this topic is about censoring a product in that, comparatively to the original Japanese version, it has less or replaced content, correct? It is not about the censorship inherently contained in the fact that the Japanese, and consequently some Western, Visual Novels utilise mosaics, right? On this topic, I will basically always support a censored release simply because I do not care much for H-Scenes, and those are typically the target of censorship. Assuming that I took a stance where I am against a censored release, I understand why you might want to boycott a product in order to 'send a message'. In this case, I'd generally recommend you do your research and learn about the surrounding circumstances. For example, It is possible the censored release is an extended all ages version, with extra content (routes and/or characters), and that the publisher opted to localise in light of which. It is possible that the Japanese company may not allow the publisher to localise erotic content for whatever reason (they may want to prove there's an established fanbase by releasing a few, less problematic, all ages titles first or they may want to avoid possible trouble at all by playing it safe). It is possible that if the publisher were to try and release an uncensored version of certain titles they would be at risk of criminal persecution (for example, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that releasing an uncensored Maitetsu could put both staff and owners of the Visual Novel at risk, depending on the country). How justifiable you find these circumstances as well as who you're trying to send a message to (staff, publisher/localiser, Japanese company) are important factors towards making your ultimate decision as a consumer: Whether you buy the product or not. As I've said before, I want to convey the message that, at any cost (or almost any cost -- circumstances vary), I want Visual Novels to be released in the West, in any state. More choice for the consumer is better, and I might support a company for good practices even when my interest in the actual product is slim at best, but I prioritise bringing visual novels over.
  10. I can, in all likelihood, provide one come tomorrow night, so if you find nothing beforehand, I'll give you mine.
  11. Hum... Everything? Okay, Tomoyo After is certainly a recommendation if you want to continue with CLANNAD's theme of family bonds and such. Supposedly there are different versions with different endings for Tomoyo After, so I can't be sure of what your mileage will be, but the ending may not turn out to be to your (or anyone sane's) taste. If you intend to play Muv-Luv, it is highly recommended you order Muv-Luv Alternative with that, which I think still hasn't been officially released. Otherwise, Muv-Luv is an average moege. This newly translated version might be better than the one I played, and since I actually didn't dislike the fan-translated Muv-Luv, it's possible you might enjoy Muv-Luv as well. Nurse Love Addiction is a nice enough game if you're into Yuri. Didn't quite have enough romance for my taste, but you may find other things within to make up for that. Reportedly, neither KARAKARA nor Harmonia are long, and they both appear to be good, if aiming for different audiences. Like fluffy cute romance? KARAKARA it is. Would you like a slightly more serious and emotional experience? Harmonia might be for you, I'm not sure -- haven't played either. I know and have read absolutely bugger all about those side stories. Okay, that's a lie -- I read a couple of reviews -- they seem to be pretty decent too.
  12. "I'm buying a new grill for Valentine's" is not supposed to sound this off.
  13. IVsVDlh.png

I appreciate the choice of wording. Might adopt it myself.

  14. Hmm... Naw. That's a huge mistake that invalidates the entire story. No two ways about it.
  15. JxrJczT.png

I'm sure that, at the time, that line at the end made sense in the translator's head.

  16. Whaaaaat. Ah, well, I suppose it makes sense. Best female for last and such. She doesn't seem to have any straightforward prompts, so I guess that'd be why. Hmm... Interesting, then. I will change my order around and do Himeno's first.
  17. Finished Charles' route in Da Capo III. Moving on to Aoi's.

I hate when this is done.

An argument can be made that thinking about your own emotions or attempting to rationalise what you think will make you understand said feelings/thoughts better than if someone else explained it to you. I don't like it, but I accept it.

Now, when it's a matter of making a deduction out of facts, why the bloody hell are they still holding out on sharing?! Imagine Sherlock Holmes told this to Watson every time. It's a waste of time. The girl knows the solution to the problem (I actually do too but I've been trained in Da Capo BS by the too previous games, and it's not like the problem is particularly hard) but now the protagonist needs to figure it out on his own because Ricca thought that's how it should be. Flipping unicorns, in the wider context of the scene she probably could have resolved the whole drama of the route on her own before Kiyotaka even appeared if she gave more of a damn about it.

This isn't a problem of emotions, this is a problem of noticing the mistaken assumption. In no way would the impact and consequences be reduced if you flat-out explained the misconception.

  19. Finally finished Love Hina. 9/10 In every way superior to the anime, it concluded very well and I now feel, once more, that harems can be done well. Mainly by ensuring beyond a shadow of a doubt that the main girl is the main girl. Keitaro and Naru always had a comparatively closer relationship that everyone else. As long as I can see that, and so long as I'm occasionally fed some romantic moments between the two, I'm satisfied. Also included some hot kisses. Such <3 On the other hand, I've started Karakuri Odette, which might be a romance, I'm still not sure. It's sort of like Chobits except not CLAMP and I'm enjoying it a good bit more than I remember enjoying Chobits. It'll likely end up a 10/10, unless it messes up its ending, which, reportedly, it does. Still really good. Edit: Yep, still good. Marvellous story. I liked how it occasionally tackled certain themes as the main character slowly learnt how to be human, and I liked how gradual her growth, as a character, was. Not only was it fun, it was also touching on occasion. I really liked the Professor/Doctor. I suppose he felt like... a parent? A parent worrying his arse off and doing his damnedest for his children. A parent going white in the face when he hears what shenanigans his children got themselves into. A parent getting mad at his children's latest "brilliant" idea. Not the kind of parent that teaches, but the kind of parent that wants the children to learn by themselves. In this sort of story the depiction of an actual robot is always dubious at best, but that is not the point.
  20. Finished The Labyrinth of Grisaia's fandiscs. This is good stuff. Fandiscs exist that feel extra. These fandiscs instead feel complementary. They feel like they belong in the main game. I feel like they could have easily been added into it and make Labyrinth even better. They reveal more details about Yuuji's time with Asako and they add some needed action into the middle-latter half of Labyrinth. Afterglow contains interesting extra information. Melody details a part I wanted to read but was merely glossed over in Labyrinth. I can't praise them enough. These are both great additions to the main story in Labyrinth of Grisaia.
  21. Having finished Sara's route, here are my thoughts on it. In short, fantastic route. I could ask no more from a romance title. Charles' will be next, followed by Aoi's, Ricca's and Himeno's. Edit: In regards to the comparison between Da Capo II and III, 2 seems to, in traditional Da Capo fashion, rely on some supernatural twist to build the route around, a twist which will cause problems but may be overcome. 3 appears to, at least in the route I've seen, be more generic, but generally sweeter. No big twist anywhere. Just as good or better than 2, though.

Now this is the Yoshiyuki-like dialogue I was hoping to find in Da Capo 3. A bit of a shame that Kiyotaka's usually too nice for it, but he's got other good aspects about him too.

You know, that is one hell of a mental image.

Not to mention her has the perfect follow-up:

  24. Common Route (Chapter One) Impressions: I've also just started Sara's route and, uh, this is sweet. Like, goodness. <33333 Proper respect to the game for having all the development up to the confession occur during the common route. The route therefore starts with them already in a relationship, sort of. This is, without a doubt, my preferred way to have a title of this kind structured. Now then, I think this route may decide everything. Da Capo II had a common route I liked more, and also included some solid (and some malleable) routes. I want to see if Da Capo III surpasses it. Edit: Forgot to add that I have teeny weeny problem with the art. They decided to draw lips on the female characters, something I just don't like.
  25. Frontwing has finished uploading and translating the introduction videos for the characters. I suppose this one is the one which surprised me most, if only because I did not know what to expect. You can check the rest of them over on Frontwing's youtube channel or on the website. Speaking of the website, they've also added character information for three more characters.
