  1. This bastard made me start watching Space Battleship Yamato 2199 via twitter. Little Busters!/10
  2. At what level? Most of the nearby forest kicked my arse for half the game and the advanced route took way too long to traverse. I maintain my claim that Italia is faster if you know where they all are.
  3. ? I do believe Kimchi is responsible for Rance's own improvements. By improving friendship with her you acquire bonuses for Rance.
  4. Interesting point of view. I did indeed use the shop to buy a bunch of orbs and... nothing else. I'll probably regret it now that I've finished the game, for it's time to 100% everything and that means I'll be fighting game-breakingly unbalanced stuff they didn't have the guts to include in the main storyline, where every stat bonus counts.
  5. Because the mechanics aren't duly explained and each player has different priorities. I know I was hoarding around 17 presents before I realised what to use them for, and I gave my first one to Rance.
  6. I don't believe the game is grindy at all. If I take it as a a VN game (whatever that means) there's comparatively hardly any grinding in this one. So I'm not so much criticising it for being what it is, as I'm expressing that I don't generally like this type of game. From that perspective, it's actually great that I'm playing it. The RNG is such that I can just keep doing the same bossfight using the same strategy over and over and I'm bound to win eventually. #lolstrategy
  7. All that orb hunting requires is visiting old maps and getting the Adventure Achievement icons. When available, Italia allows you to get 40 (eagle orb) per run and doesn't take much in the way of time nor are its encounters challenging towards the mid game. My main issue with the game really is random encounters. I just don't like the mechanic as a whole, and there has never been a game in which I enjoyed them. I like fighting when I know I'm fighting. I can avoid the red clouds all I want, if all of a sudden a random encounter pops up with a super hanny and as RNG would have it neutralises my best fighter on the first turn I need to restart the whole thing. Now that's irritating.
  8. There is one bloody instance where I was running around like a headless chicken not knowing what to do. You're supposed to activate the battle, see that it's impossible to win and retreat. All other instances thus far simply give me time-outs or permit my loss. Basically, if you're seriously losing, and you can retreat, do so. Always. Sometimes you can't and when you can't that usually means it's forced (which doesn't mean you can't put up a fight).
  9. Happy Christmas everyone!
  10. Ha! All I drank was water. And you know the best part? For today we'll be bringing in three more main dishes for lunch. Meat this time, as per tradition. We don't have enough space to store the food, I think I'm beginning to understand Christmas' charitable nature. We just might have to go distributing food all over the place lest it rot entirely.
  11. I ended last year with this very same avatar actually.
  12. I am now clarified. You have my gratitude.
  13. I am currently considering purchasing more Neptunia games. Would anyone be so kind as to inform me what's what? Because there's a bunch of them and I heard some were remakes and others were not and then there's also DLC that's more expensive than the main game. The only one I've played was Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, no DLC. I'm considering replaying it so as to unlock the 2 CPU candidates I don't yet have. Does it have a sequel? Where do I go from here? Halp? Thank ye kindly.
  14. The Royal Trap should be no darker than Amnesia: Memories was at times. An otome (mostly) VN with a very nice dosage of Royal politics and cunning and battles of wits. There's at least one completely light-hearted route, actually. Very nice. As for light-hearted titles on steam... I can recommend some Yuri, like Highway Blossoms (some relatively light drama at points) and Kindred Spirits on the Roof... These are amazing if you like Yuri. The thing about light-hearted moege is that most I've read end up not being on steam (yet)... And the ones I did and ended up there are not always light-hearted like the classics CLANNAD, G-Senjou and Grisaia... The three I just mentioned I'll always always recommend in any circumstance. Regardless, expect some serious drama within and at points. The only thing I can recommend in good conscience is Princess Evangile, as the drama is never too serious, and it is otherwise a standard moege. ---- It's true that there's been a lot of moege localised recently, but I haven't played most of them yet.
  15. I have finished the first episode, and will now unleash my many thoughts on the matter. Theoretically I will do the same with future episodes but who knows. Beware spoilers in the latter two sections. General Thoughts: 1st Episode: 2nd Episode Speculation (using the preview): That's about all I'm willing to think about right now. Maybe there was some more foreshadowing in there but I probably forgot. I'll start making my way towards the second episode sometime soon.
  16. Good idea. I'll go off and sleep for 6 months straight while I wait. Such a shame there isn't anything for me to do while I wait, like reading visual novels.
  17. Took the words out of my mouth. Except I'd have been more derogatory towards America for no particular reason.

    :objection: Take that, tropes!

    1. Dergonu

Boobs are better. Bring back the boobs.

  19. I have no idea what led to this, but I am now alternating Hunter x Hunter (2011) with Shana. Hopefully the former won't turn out to be something I don't have the heart to watch, like Fullmetal Alchemist (gave up on that one on like the 5th time everything went to hell).
  20. It depends on the route. There is always a portion of the route dedicated to dating and romance so I think you'll like it. However, said portion can vary... I'd say on average 2/5ths is action/conflict, 1/5th is pre-confession/setting up the conflict 1/5th is dating and 1/5th is sex. I still find that there's plenty of alone time between the love interests.
  21. Whaaaat? How come I was unaware of this show?! I shall keep my eye on it. ---- In the meantime I have finished Strike Witches, which I rather liked despite all the complaints I lobbed at it via twitter, and have started Shakugan no Shana. I'm unsure on Shana. The premise is fine and I'm loving the "powerless" protagonist. I much prefer when the protagonist is the one being protected, to be honest. Of course, when such an occurrence occurs... well, the protagonist tends to later gain magical superpowers that make him be the protector. I've set my expectations accordingly but a slimmer of hope remains that he doesn't gain any powers -- I'm sure he can find other ways to be helpful. What really discouraged me from continuing straight on were people's impressions. I'm too easily influenced and what I read about a title can easily make me want to finish it in one sitting or drop it. Right now I'm leaning towards putting it on hold, probably. ---- Most of my watchlist otherwise are comedies and slice of life. Neither of which fit for mass consumption. Bugger.
  22. Nice to wake up to the OP today: It brings some new CGs (and that guy still looks like a girl) so they could have just went ahead and added some more to the website.
  23. How vulgar.
  24. I have for once kept up with one of the currently airing shows, Izetta, but even someone such as I agrees that things got a little more than contrived. @ittaku's earlier commentary mirrors my own feelings on the matter. Even then, my utter plebeian status does permit me to derive enjoyment even under said circumstances. 7/10 would watch Izetta wrecking tanks again.
