  1. Dracu-Riot! is fully translated. The patch exists out there, somewhere, on the interwebs. However, it is indeed unedited. The full version will be edited and contain some minor fixes to the translation. You're free to choose how much you prioritise quality, of course. As for the game itself, I don't quite see how much it would fit with your criteria... In that sense Noble Works would be much more appropriate. Still, go for what you find interesting.
  2. Finished Moribito. Enjoyed it a lot. It was a heart-warming and emotional experience. Some people seemed to complain it lacked a sense of urgency or was too light-hearted for us to truly worry about anyone's fate, but that's probably one of the reasons I could enjoy it so much. Did lots of interesting things and I think the storytelling was, a lot of the time, well done. Excellent antagonists. Having finished Moribito I've now started... Baka to Test, for true QUALITYTM shows.
  3. Rejoice. The issues are now gone for me on the newest page.
  4. I was going to wish you happy birthday at 23:59, but I'm dying over here so I'll hurry up and head to bead.
  5. It's at the very least possible to load those links up if you open them in a separate tab. Some embedded stuff, such as tweets and videos, however, are not. The only way I've found to see said cases is to have someone else (if it's me it won't load them properly) quote them.

I'd say this is the first moment in Seinarukana where I didn't consider it to be a bundle of generic tropes.

I wonder why I feel the same about both games in the series? Their starts manage to be really stale despite being no more and no less than the average moege I read. I believe it may have to do with my mentality going in: If I started playing it, I want gameplay, not unoriginal slice-of-life.

On the other hand, once I do finish it, if replays become necessary I may feel that I don't want to go through the gameplay again, meaning I employ HAX.

  7. Happy Birthday to @Eclipsed because I adhere to societal etiquette, and such demands I give such good wishes. For the same imposing reason I also wish the very same to @Shikomizue. Just hurry up on finding the cure to the cancer you gave me.
  8. The translation seemed fine by all accounts. The game itself can be considered a Japanese attempt at creating a Sakura title (Sakura series by Winged Cloud). It seems to have routes, but remains fairly short. If you enjoy risqué, but technically not 18+ art, you may enjoy this. I Can't comment on the story other than noting how ridiculous the premise is.
  9. Well, it's a serious story. I don't mix well with things without any comedy, generally speaking. Well, that is about it. If the premise got me interested it's likely I'll enjoy it for the plot, comedy or otherwise. As for Desert Punk, I only watch that whenever I'm in the mood, and it turns out it's not always.
  10. I've now finished Log Horizon and nearly concluded Slayers. Log Horizon was quite fantastic. Truly excellent. Will consider watching the following season. Apparently the plot does not actually go anywhere, for which it could be better to wait for an eventual but likely hopeless third season. Slayers has its issues for me, though I blame myself more than the show. Slayers' serious moments are a parody of the fantasy/action shows of the time, with cackling evil villains and the fate of the world on the line. It's a parody because the heroes aren't exactly paragons of virtue and the justice obsessed are indeed treated like freaks. Because the villains and dramatic scenes so accurately depict what was common for the time... they are cringe-inducing-ly generic and stereotypical, to the point I can't enjoy the more serious moments at all. I'll also leave a note of love to the music which, due to how repetitive some themes were, I can remember very well and really like. Every time she used a dragon slave the same theme played and such. I got used to the art, so that's one issue erased. I am currently trying to decide between watching Moribito and Nanbaka. Decidedly different shows, I know, and I wonder if I'd even enjoy something like Moribito. Won't stop me from trying.
  11. Turns out a friend of mine just started playing this game. When I told him I'd played it before he told me we should play together but to "go easy on him" who has only just finished the main story for a character. Of course, I didn't go easy on him. Of course, I lost all six games against him. I told him at the time that I'm really bad at this kind of game. He refused to believe me. Ha! Take a dose of reality, then!
  12. Log Horizon is bloody brilliant. Absolutely love the kind of main character they were going for here. In some ways reminds me of Alderamin's MC as well as Yamato from Majikoi: All three have completely different personalities but there's just this strategic side they have in common. So, yes. I love this type of MC and the shows that have them. Liked every character, liked the plot (especially People of the Land being, well, people, too), yada yada. Interestingly, I noted various (read as: at least one) characters have accents -- It's the first time I've seen an anime with them distinctly present without at least a scene where the characters themselves take note of this. In the meanwhile, I've also started another one, which is in many ways everything I ever wanted: Slayers; Without really knowing where to look, I've been looking for an anime where we have characters in a fantasy/medieval land just... adventuring, I guess: doing stuff, getting in trouble, getting out of trouble, and with a focus on comedy. I got a bit of this with Inuyasha's many filler episodes, which I preferred over the actual arcs, but I like Slayer more due to the character personalities here (more suited to comedy). Most fantasy settings I come across just seem to have a focus on the action, or on the plot, or some such thing. Slayers unashamedly feels free to add comedy wherever it feels like, and it's all the better for it. When I watch anime I may on occasion stop to think... and blurt out my own sarcastic comment at the situation or the character's actions: When the anime manages to reflect my own thoughts, then I have little choice but to revere it. Problems with it would be the dated art. It's from 1995, which is relatively recent, and yet I have difficulty discerning much of what goes on on screen. I cannot tell if it's simply too busy for a show its age or if they just handled it badly -- I never had any problems watching anime during my childhood -- I see absolutely no reason I should have more trouble with something from the 90s than things from the 70s or 80s. To its credit, I think its mostly just a thing from the 90s, as I have always had issues putting up with art from that period. Another issue I have is that it does have serious parts... And they are so generically typical I can't tell if it's a deadpan parody or if that was a thing back then. I'll go with the former and just keep on laughing. Edit: In fact, the first 5 seconds of the OP tell it all. Quite enough to get me hooked. I forgot to mention the main character's voice actors, but they are both superb. The first three sentences of the OP, along with her delivery of them convinced me thoroughly. Lina sounds like a young girl, which contrasts greatly with her power and "wisdom". Gourry sounds like the dumb bag of bricks he is. Evil guys sound stereotypically evil. Good guys sound like justice nutjobs. It's marvellous.
  13. Fuuka, huh? Since I read Suzuka it might be interesting to watch this. MAL claims they're somehow related. I do have 0 expectations for Fuuka though I don't remember why.
  14. Goodness gracious, I just realised that guy may actually have dirt on all of us. That's why he sends so many inaptly titled PMs and prompts "discussion"...
  15. Haha, double post. lolZenophilious ---- My sister has been insisting that I watch Sword Art Online. As a direct consequence I've decided to watch Log Horizon. Now tell me I'm a wonderful human being.
  16. The Australian who revels in the misery of others? Seriously? How terrible of you. Crap, was it because he expressed his condolences over the laptop and I didn't? Blast it all.
  17. Hmm... Also, Konosuba!
  18. Is anywhere aware of the purpose of the "Sexy Swimsuit" item? Edit: I cannot believe we posted the same question simultaneously.
  19. Shikomizue gave me cancer.
  20. Oh, I don't disagree,
  21. Wind is reserved for suspenseful, dramatic or emotional scenes.
If the studio had to draw wind every time a character was on screen the entire budget would go into hair animation.

  22. I feel I should share that I've just watched Momokuri, the best thing since sliced bread, and it's led to me understanding something crucial. Shortly after I restarted (re)watching Lovely Complex, a show I tried watching some 4 years ago but ended up dropping towards the end. I remember having some real problems with it, despite absolutely loving the hell out of its comedy and Momokuri has allowed me to figure out what it is I take issue with. Every time Lovely Complex tries to be serious or dramatic I just stop enjoying it. I think what irked me so is that it had some fantastic potential to be an absolute blast of a romcom, but spoils it for me by being serious unnecessarily. Momokuri goes around tackling issues that just about any other romance would have as major dramatic plotpoints with comedy and sweetness. I also made the mistake of trying to watch Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance. I haven't been able to handle harems as well as I used to for a while now, with some exceptions, but this one didn't seem like an exception at all. I have not been able to determine why this is, though. If it's a comedy I should, theoretically, be able to handle it fine, but I didn't find it that funny. The protagonist did seem to have some personality, so that's good as well. And I had no particular objections to the plot...
  23. "Defenceless"

I hate the constant usage of the word in anime and manga.
So, if you're a female you can't sleep anywhere your friends have access to? Napping where a male friend can see you is considered defenceless?
I wouldn't want to live in the country where doing so would be dangerous. I wouldn't want to have friends like those.

    1. Fred the Barber

      Fred the Barber

God, I couldn't agree more. I practically roll my eyes every time this trope gets trotted out.

  24. Very good. Indeed. I myself tend to complain every time a "that" shows up since they can take on far too many meanings. When possible, murder it, otherwise, replace it, if you can't, you're probably using it right.
