What an amazing ability the Japanese possess. All they need to do is look at any two people for a matter of two seconds and they can make such divinations!
Yes... whatever 'atmosphere' is supposed to mean.

  2. f/sn Choked on my glass of water. Nearly died. Just one more attempt on my life. Nothing to see here.
  3. NagiAsu is a wildcard for me from the information I've heard about it. I'm either going to enjoy it or hate its guts. What surprises me, though, is that this guy likes it too. Certainly worth considering it, then, under said circumstances. My rubbish tier taste will carry me, fret not. I got this impression from my own investigations, but it truly seems like I'll at least enjoy it. Romance has never needed to be the focal point, after all. Indeed. Let's do this! EDIT: I've also finished watching Dantalian no Shoka. My impression remains relatively unchanged, and I liked the hell out of it. If I had a complaint is that there is certainly more to the story -- more I may prove unable to find out, on account of the sole season.
  4. Can't quite tell whether this is an ED or an OP. Regardless, have it. If we went by the website, it would appear this is an ED, however. Certainly sounds like Grisaia, whatever that means. Probably the piano? God, I don't know. I can't distinguish instruments and I know sod all about music.
  5. Do you fine gentlemen around these parts believe I would like Shakugan no Shana? It looks like it may be interesting, but I'm unsure. In the meanwhile I've started Dantalian no Shoka. Very enjoyable indeed. Obviously reminiscent of Gosick, in that both are mysteries set during about Victorian times, containing a lolita dressed in lolita fashion with a sweet tooth and a war veteran caretaker. Now, whereas Gosick focused on the mystery solving -- Victorique solved everything -- Dantalian focuses on the inherent mystery of its supernatural elements. It's not a true mystery-solving anime, for the answer is impossible for us to figure out on our own for the most part, but is mysterious, and we are attracted to try and understand it.
  6. Tried out the demo, and I shall leave my impressions here: General: Plot Impressions (may contain spoilers up till the end of the demo): Less than an hour long if you're not me, I think. Doesn't really let us get a grip on anyone's personality. Maybe Kagura's. A bit. It does introduce the setting properly, I guess. I'm definitely planning on reading this BUT, I fully intend to find out if this'll be a long (at least 10 hours) or short title. And if it's divided into routes then I'd need at least 15. My reading speed, of course, which does not seem to be all that fast.
  7. For a while some individuals in the West seemed to regard this as a masterpiece. It got relatively poor sales in Japan, though. I think it's by the same writer as the recently released Himawari, actually.
  8. Hmm... Island's localisation seems to have started. Have a that.
  9. Symphonic Rain would not fit your current requests by my standards.
  10. Excellent. Everybody's getting confused and chaos is settling in. I can see you really did consult @Tay before making this post.
  11. I object. It should be evident that this emoticon will enjoy much wider usage than just myself. My alternate accounts will see to that.
  12. Why, quite so. I do indeed jest. Do permit me a simple elaboration. When one goes on to learn an art, there's an early period where said person fancies himself a masterful connoisseur of the art in question. Be it language or gardening, the period shortly after learning enough that any one would consider you "slightly above average" is the most guilty of this issue. At such a point many would think to display their excellence, or, to be more accurate, their perceived excellence. I was one such example, for example. By purposefully choosing to opt for the more atypical words, I was demonstrating my 'vast' knowledge of vocabulary and sentence structure... by building the most awkward and incomprehensible sentences around. And therefore, I gained the reputation of being more formal than is customary, a title I shall proudly wear forevermore. I was, however, recently defenestrated from my throne. Indeed, the joy I once saw in such matters is no more, and these days I've come to prefer making simple puns with the language. Occasionally elaborating something more elaborate. This, too, is normal. The better one person becomes at a craft, the better they can identify the flaws they, or someone else, commit. It is consequential that they then be humbled and grow less prone to flaunting. Why this elaboration then? I intended to build this up to eventually say that, as of recently, I have indeed come to perceive your... more developed posts as a peerless impersonation of my former style. Excellent. As I once said, "more of me can only be a good thing".
  13. You should also thank Professor Poltroon for the great inspiration he has given you in the topic of English Language and proper writing. Mostly in the "don't do it like me" department.

Here's your daily reminder that I absolutely hate the construction "He is the type to".
Jeez, why must you classify everyone into types? Sometimes I do, sometime I don't. If you want to express this sentiment you say the hyperbolic "He always replies to his messages quickly" or the average "He usually replies to his messages quickly".

Mr. Poltroon's the type to hate labels.

Also, hey! Missed talking to you. We should hang out.

Damn, how does this guy know who I am? What gave it away? The cravat? It was the bloody cravat, wasn't it? Blast it all.

  15. I'd say Majikoi's not the best example. There are many faceless protagonists out there, but Yamato ain't one of them. Not only is his face clearly shown right during one of the initial CGs, his face appears in every non-sexual, non-kiss CG where he is present. Sure, that amounts to about 6 of them, but it's still a very rare thing. However, I understand what you mean with Yuuji. In his game, they did not remove his facial features in any CGs he was present (and his long-ish hair is also distinctive on its own) and had plenty of chibi's featuring him, which is quite something. Still a considerable number of purposefully concealing angles, but his face was there, for the most part. Indeed, protagonists that are their own, with their own personality, and their own voice are typically some of the best in my opinion. Yuuji's got a strong personality and dead fish face image. Shirou from Fate/stay night has a strong personality (and voice, depending on your version) and you saw him right at the start. Rintaro Okabe has one fantastic voice, personality and distinctive labcoat (and a face, I guess). Even Takeru from Muv-Luv was given a face. Ever17 pulled some funny business on that topic. You know everyone's face and voice in Katahane (and with a face like that, I can see why Cero's voiced by a woman). The protagonists in Overdrive titles are generally given distinctive characteristics. Christ, the protagonist from Edelweiss is distinctive because he overuses tie pins -- yet we never actually see his face. Bunny Black has a pretty distinctive looking protagonist, and he ain't a good guy. Comyu's Akihito... Symphonic Rain's Chris... I still remember Tsukihime's protagonist and his oversized, distinctive glasses. Ikikoi, of all things, had a face and personality (whenever he went by un-abused long enough to show it). The list goes on and on... But for every one of these titles, there's three or four with faceless or not present in CG's protagonists. Which reduces their presence and personality... It's not impossible to give them some defining characteristics, of course. Edelweiss had his tie pins, Da Capo I's Jun'ichi had his apathetic "what a bother" approach to life, A Profile had ridiculously naive (or optimistic?) beliefs. Heck, Wanko to Kuraso's seemed to be some sort of superman who had any and all skills and could make any woman fall at his feet -- he wasn't even much of a good person at the start of the game. But if you ask me about Hoshizora's... Or Yuuki from Koichoco... Pretty much just some generic protagonist I can't recall. Something, something about them so you can make an image to work off is extremely important. Otherwise you can't even recall them. Even when you forget their names you can still remember them then. KoiRizo's is distinctly stingy and petty on some matters, but when the routes go and melt that off he just meshes into yet another generic faceless protagonist. Goddammit, he even has glasses. Why don't they show him?!
  16. I can't believe this. I had no idea the protagonist in this VN wore glasses. Like, there's been no CGs at an angle that let's me see his face clearly. In fact, he's only been in one CG thus far. Wow. I was literally just tipped off by someone calling him four eyes and me wondering about it. Checking the one CG with him on it, upon close inspection, there does appear to be something that could be classified as "glasses". PS: There's also the chance it's been mentioned early on and I forgot about it since I'm playing this for about an hour a week.
  17. Have a this, I suppose: I wasn't really paying much attention, but this trailer's chock-full of CGs. Either they've spoiled over half of them or there's more than I had thought -- which could, if I dare be bold, indicate that this title may be longer than it seems. There's at least one CG where a nipple is at least 70% visible. Go, all ages!* (not the one I just linked, that one's completely safe. Yep) Overall: Extremely low physique variation, some ridiculous poses (like, have you seen the awkward positioning some characters take? Fist up in the air, probably standing on one foot whilst engaging in normal dialogue? The worst part is that they've definitely got some normal poses), and some pretty good art. Notably, there's a voice actress in there that reminds me of Yukie from Majikoi, and I love her voice. Frankly, were this not such a a ludicrous premise, and were this not about idols, I'd be much more excited. The everyday slice-of-life looks like the sewage I'd easily and happily gobble up: *For the uninformed and thick of head: This is a jab at the outdated terminology used to refer to titles without H-Scenes.
  18. Come on now, people. Surely you recognise the West doesn't have nearly enough good inconsequential romantic comedies? Don't do this to me Let them get away with their unfitting happily ever after. I cry enough as is without it ending badly.
  19. Kokoro Connect doubtlessly contains spoonfuls of drama. Nothing I couldn't tolerate, and I'm not exactly known for high tolerance, but it also had some romance. Not enough for me, truly, but my favourite pairing got together, so that carried it for me. Effectively, it can be said this anime doesn't contain an ending. It's... somewhat episodic: think arcs. And it ends right in the middle. Still, something about the concept really intrigued me. Looking back on it, I have no idea why. I distinctly remember disliking the drama, and disliking how certain characters acted, but my every impression of the show is that I "liked it a lot".
  20. Agreed. I suggest you refrain from doing do, Ratboi.
  21. I find it rather nice that they're hitting all the right bases and trying to address all our concerns. Such a same that the game itself falls so out of my area of interest
  22. Because I got busy last time I attempted to play this, I never got too far into my first route, Umi's. As it turns out, I had no idea what I was missing. This stuff is gold. <3<3<3<3<3's everywhere. So cute. I can even read the majority of H-Scenes, more or less. Wouldn't read it for the vast majority of dialogue, though. Can't subscribe to the "just relax, smile, have fun" theory they're trying to sell me. As a minor detail, the VNs excellent editing is wasted on me. I'm too busy getting hang up on typos and tricky translation choices.
  23. Why am I limited to girls? You've crossed out my VN of choice, "The Second Reproduction". Unfortunately, as much as I'd love to participate in this, I really do love most characters. I can't tell what's the "Best Worst Girl" as has been put. I can come up with plenty of "Worst Girls". Just not the best.
  24. This time of year once more, I see.
