The funniest one I played was Mamankyoushitsu- a nukige based on pregnancy. I have not played any VN that aims to actually be funny, however. The reason: 999 had some humorous scenes as well:

What English Original VN are you looking forward to?
Funyarinpa replied to Kimanor's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I've finished the demo, and it does not have spoilers... the beginning is a bit weird though. Up to you if you want to play it or not. -
I feel genuinely sorry for you, especially since Desmume runs 999 without the slightest hitch- this is not like Danganronpa where you need to perform an average of 5 dark magic ceremonies to make it work. It runs without the slightest hassle... Oh well, too late now.

Exogenesis is the only OELVN I am looking forward to. -
Uchikoshi said in an interview that Japanese fans were disturbed by the amount of gore and horror in 999, so it was lessened in VLR. THAT WORKED OUT SOOOO FUCKING WELL, DIDN'T IT? It VLR had as much horror and gore as 999, I bet everyone would say VLR is the better game by now- but a game based on betrayal and killing, and the atmosphere is as calm and "sterile" as it is: It could have been MUCH better, even if VLR is an effing masterpiece already.

If you like emotional, action, or mystery stories, if you do not have a problem with good characters, if you can endure over-intensive puzzle-solving, GET THIS GAME! Actually, you should get this game no matter what. Emulate if you have to. You MUST play this game especially because it is the predecessor to my favorite game and VN of all time 10/10 game, in all seriousness. What it lacks in puzzles, it overcompensates for with its story. Maefdown, I'd recommend you play its sequel Virtue's Last Reward: It has better twists and better "gameplay", far better puzzles as well as an effing flowchart which I am surprised is not an industry standard by now. A warning: Do not play VLR before 999. Let me clarify. DO NOT EVEN THINK OF PLAYING VIRTUE'S LAST REWARD BEFORE 9 HOURS 9 PERSONS 9 DOORS, DO NOT EVEN TOUCH VLR BEFORE GETTING ALL THE ENDINGS OF 999, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU FINISH BOTH

I was stuck at Clue #5... Steve will never forgive me. -
It seems that the story writer has worked on 999's story, so I would say that the story does have a lot of potential. (I know he is not the main writer.) Also,, its goal is $580K... it sure is aiming for the skies.

When you pirate something, the creator does not lose the "asset" in question. However, they lose a potential customer. That is the loss they have. However, if you cannot obtain it legally, you are not a possible customer. You pirate it, and if you actually buy it when it comes out legally, then I'd say it is all right- in this example, piracy actually GAINS the creator a customer. It is also obvious that you are not giving back the creator what they deserve from their asset when you pirate something. Saying I am anti-piracy would be hypocritical. I have pirated many non-localized VN's, as well as localized ones like S; G and 999. No need to beat around the bush, those were because I did not want to cash out as much money as I would need to buy them, in short: my own greed. Otherwise though, I pirate rarely and usually buy from Steam.

"Theres something missing in this visual novel..."

So, any of you alredy thought that the adition of a scene or dialogue could improve the overall story? I am past the 25th chapter so I thought I would be okay.... I WAS NOT (My fault completely, but AUGH... I was playing it only for the story nowadays.) -

Visual novels that are not very Japanese
Funyarinpa replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Zero Escape was "western" in my opinion. Yes, you had Zero III and quirky plot and storyline, but it appears to have been far more appealing to Western fans, and its art styles are obviously not like any other VN. Edit: I love your works! I think that as long as it is appealing and beautiful, the JP feel does not matter too much- it is just that it's easy to make gorgeous sprites with anime-like art style. -
Nice! I've always wanted to write a crossover of Danganronpa and Zero Escape, too bad I am going to go on vacation tomorrow. I won't be back till it is too late, but can I post my crossover after that just for the sake of contribution?

For this to be effective, assuming that these guys just are just trying to get a bit more money from A/M instead of hugely damage piracy which is simply im-fucking-possible, they need to create platforms that allow legal streaming and/or owning anime and manga at a reasonable price for everybody, everywhere. We're talking about the people that only banned CP recently though, so not much hope on that front... They need to lower piracy? Give people a feasible alternative. To do that, they need infrastructure. Stopping piracy by force won't work, offering anime and manga for a good price legally will pretty much pull over anyone by their own will except those think more than "I can pirate it, so I will." or those that are unable to afford it- and that is the only thing that can effectively lower piracy. There is a Turkish proverb: "Sweet words are what gets the snake out of its hole." I guess you could say...

Visual Novel's why DO YOU play/read them
Funyarinpa replied to FoggyOrchid's topic in Visual Novel Talk
VN's (except nukige) are a medium of storytelling for me. The experiences they provide are unique, and the stories themselves incredible. I started off with 999, then read VLR which became my favorite video game, thus speeding up the process, then I read Ever17 and while it was not on the level of 999 or VLR, the game was still great. I liked the premise of "heroines", I guess. I then decided to read all Infinity VN's and before I knew it, Remember11 was down in my book as an experience with a lacking conclusion and hard-to-grasp twists and too big a roster of insignificant bad endings. Then I read Steins; Gate.....Then Umineko..... Now I am reading Muv-Luv Extra and a weird nukige ("Mamankyoushitsu" was its name I think, if anyone's interested). TL;DR: The stories they tell are awesome and unique. P.S: Nukiges are good for fetishes. That's all. -

I see. Then we could have a second poll for a second preference (if we add a "vote for the same logo twice, and your votes are null" rule, that'll sort itself out.) Hope I can help
-
A question: Is it possible to create two separate polls on one thread? If it is possible, there could be winners for different categories: "most innovative"-"most revolutionary"-"Cutest Girl", etc. The winner of every category could get a different place to be shown, or serve different purposes. If a logo wins 2 or more categories, you could use the runner-ups...

Tried to read MLE, and pretty much all characters I've met in the first 30 minutes are my least favorites
-
I want to say that after borderline pointlessly wasting 30 minutes trying to endure Muv-Luv Extra, it replaced Remember11 as my least favorite VN. The reason R11 held the title before was because it was disappointing- not "bad" AT ALL. However, MLE is all around bad. Not one interesting character or setting(it somehow managed to make me not care about that mysterious girl that seemingly happened to come into existence in the MC's room), the MC mistook his best fiend's titties for gamepad triggers in the first 5 minutes, grumpy protagonist, unlikeable main female character... I am not a mecha person, so I'll probably read Never7 for the rest of the summer and go back to MLE sometime in autumn-which then I probably will read alongside a nice eroge to alleviate my boredom.

Got it because found it for $20, said "meh" and never touched it again after two weeks.
