That's the odd thing about them, in some ways they're more open than the other companies, largely when talking about the business side of things, but in other ways I get the impression that they have no idea how to interact with their customers. It seems like three quarters of their replies on twitter are them completely misunderstanding the tweets being sent to them, with the rest being half-assed answers. And the amount of straight-up wrong or misleading information given by them via their various social media channels is pretty staggering. I don't think it's intentional, they just don't know what they're doing.

And in fact JAST has actively avoided certain games because mosaics aren't available. If they had an artist who could redraw them, we'd probably have that canceled Empress project. I think it happens less often than people are assuming. That thing with the Doddler was that he was touching up a region because it looked bad after the mosaics were removed. It was pretty basic photoshop work. I don't think MangaGamer has ever fully redrawn censored portions before.

I'm honestly not sure what's going on at the SDCC. There's this tweet from JAST but I can't find anything else from them about the show and I can't find any information about a potential panel for them at the event's site. I don't want to say there will definitely be announcements there, knowing JAST there's always a great deal of room for miscommunication.

I think it's a little too early to tell where exactly the majority of their focus will end up as they're still in the midst of the transition. I think MG will at the very least keep trying to have 18+ and all-ages versions release simultaneously, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't end up focusing more on the all-ages side of things one or two years down the line.

Using the route chart as your primary guide and occasionally consulting the simple text guide on the wiki tends to be good enough.

I don't know why you used all of the jewels when they specifically warned you to not do that. I don't know what to do in that situation as it never happened to me. For god's sake, use the walkthrough. The game is kind of shitty if you don't. It was pretty much designed in a way that requires one (they probably wanted to boost walkthrough sales) or a WHOLE lot of patience and trial-and-error. There are some moments that seem almost impossible to figure out without one, though.

Their previous game was Koi Iro Chu! Lips. There's no accounting for taste.

The Alicesoft announcement has produced one additional casualty no one knew about because it wasn't announced. Denwatl's secret project was AliveZ. After a year of work, they're ceasing activity on it when it was at 94%. They say they're offering the translation to MG for free but who knows if they'll be interested in that particular game.

Yeah, Beat Blades Haruka falls into the "Gameplay nukige" category of things. MangaGamer has one other product in that category, Boob Wars, and that was one of their best selling games ever. And it's also a pile of shit. BBH actually seems pretty good for what it is, so hopefully MG markets it right and gets Alicesoft wanting more of the western market. On a side note, I'm a little bummed that Himawari is generating the least buzz among MG's announcements. Their tweet about the Umineko release has 480 retweets, the one for Himawari has 89 . It's probably the VN from all of AX that I'm looking forward to the most. It seems really, really good, and was also the only game on my VNDB wishlist of untranslated games that got licensed.

That Eriko CG of her at the cafe glumly looking away is one of the cutest CGs I've ever seen in a VN.
