Ultimately I will probably end up reading everything announced at MangaGamer's Otakon panel, which is more than I can say about AX. I will probably play Haruka for only an hour for curiosity's sake, I will probably read the fan-made Umineko PS3-to-PC port and not MG's version (I'm sure they're not happy to hear that), and I won't even touch the sonohana game. Himawari is the most interesting title of the two conventions, but at least everything at Otakon at least seems readable.

Gotta go with the Yuri Ghosts~
-
There was a brief window where it seemed marginally possible but I dismissed the idea pretty quickly. You would kind of have to be delusional to believe that. Apparently the PE Fandisc dismissal a few weeks ago wasn't a fake out, at least not intentionally so. They had no plans for it until right after Doddler made that ask.fm response indicating that it wasn't happening, when Moonstone got in touch with them. Also I feel silly for thinking Tsuriotsu was so obvious but I am still really confused as to why that's not happening. This isn't even me being a fanboy or anything, the market looks right for it. I wonder what MG finds unappealing in it.

Please for the love of god don't start another argument about all-ages titles. My thoughts on the announcements: Supipara: Obvious. Maybe it will be good, but it did nearly bankrupt Minori, I wonder if it will have any more success in the west. Yuri Ghosts: Looks cute and funny and is full of yuri, I'm down. Was kind of obvious in retrospect but I forgot about its existence. Princess Evangile fandisc: Eh. It's a fandisc, I think people here have been too hyped over it. It will be shorter and will contain much less substance than you're imagining. I'm a little annoyed at the fake out a couple weeks ago but I guess it worked in surprising me. Tokyo Babel: Ehh... Some people are saying it's good but it also has mixed ratings, but EGS's ratings on all-ages titles are unreliable at best. Personally it doesn't look all that great to me, hopefully I'm wrong. The Shadows of Pygmalion: Ehh... Some people are saying it's good but... wait. Also, no fair MG, this is cheating having both new partner titles be from the same developer.
-
Well, 1/5 isn't bad, even if it is the most obvious announcement.
-
Tokyo Babel is one of the more boring propeller titles they could have went with. Meh.
-
Yuri ghosts. In retrospect, this one was kind of obvious.
-
It's happening, finally. I was right about Supipara, the gimme.

You know, I've been thinking, VN OPs are utterly worthless to me. I realized I skip them every time in the Sekai Project monthly recap videos. I never watch them on youtube when they're posted by these companies. And also they've consisted of like 80% of this panel so far. There's a reason the fan translation scene has dwindled so much. They're all working for MangaGamer now. It's the Crunchyroll Effect.

I feel like the "here's everything we're working on that we've already announced" phase of things is taking way longer this time around.
-
I forgot Cafe is already working on Myth. Welp.

I sense a lot less Otakon hype than AX hype.

It's a bit less than an hour until the panel so I will post my predictions here so the record can prove how wrong smart I was. 1. Supipara. They may be counting this as one of the five. 2. Tsuriotsu. It's accessible, it's well regarded, it fits in line with what sells for them, it's modern and looks nice, I don't know why they wouldn't pick it up. 3. Fortissimo. I think MangaGamer wants to do more action chuuni stuff and this is one such title that's already available to them and can go on Steam. 4. Aoiro Rinne. The hint posted on their twitter very strongly alluded to this. The one problem with the theory is that Doddler has said none of the announcements are for games that have had fan projects before, but perhaps he misspoke and meant fan patches. Either way, this fits way too well with their hint. 5. Some BL title. NTY did well for MG and I do believe that they said Good Haro's next translation will be announced at Otakon. I know almost nothing about BL and I can't begin to give even a half-assed guess at what it would be. It's probably not gay butlers. Something else to note: one of the announced titles is going to be translated by Conjuorer and Garerei, the duo behind Himawari. Fortissimo would be something they might translate. I do believe either Tulip Goddess Maria or BlackDragonHunt said their next titles are being announced at Otakon and I'm annoyed I can't remember who (maybe it's both). Maria has said that she'll translate almost anything as long as she doesn't hate it. Cafe is finished on Euphoria and is free to work on something else, which would be Aoiro Rinne, the title he was fan translating before he was recruited by MG. I would say that Aoiro Rinne is the least likely of the bunch, actually, because of the doddler quote, and also because it's from a totally dead publisher and how would anyone even get the rights? Even still, all of the other options I'm looking at seem even less likely to me. Such meaningless speculation when you could just wait 50 minutes to hear the truth. edit: There will be a livestream here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/animecons-industry2 And a liveblog here: http://t.co/oxOler9Q0b Kind of wish Kyrt would update the OP or that I would have posted another thread to hijack that role. Oh well, too late now. I'm much too lazy to make an actual effort post tonight.

Majikoi S Translation Project Discussion
Decay replied to Ouraibaa Hjyuraa's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Well, changing your system locale has zero effect on your hardware so if the computer wouldn't boot up at all then that was pure coincidence. If it messed up the windows installation, that still sounds extremely unusual and I would bet on either it being unrelated or you were running a shoddy pirate version of windows. -
It's no Oretsuba but it's still a reasonably well regarded game from Navel, a company MG has access to. If an announcement doesn't happen this year I would really have to wonder what they're waiting for.
-
I haven't read the Koyuki route yet but doesn't that also have a substantial amount of plot?
-
Well, I can't say we didn't try to warn them. In the translation thread and most other places that discuss the game, it's heavily warned that it contains a lot of sexual content and most of the routes has no meaningful story content.
-
Doddler has more or less said that there will be a moege announcement from MangaGamer tonight so the moege fans who got blueballed at AX will hopefully not be disappointed. I'm still crossing my fingers for Tsuriotsu.
-
Well, the Wairu translation wasn't great and half of the new S patch consists of the Wairu translation, edited.
-
Nope. Maybe they will have something to say about that tomorrow at their panel. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a title for 2016. Doddler has more or less said that there will be a moege announcement from MangaGamer tonight so the moege fans who got blueballed at AX will hopefully not be disappointed. I'm still crossing my fingers for Tsuriotsu. edit: Oh, I thought this was the otakon thread for a minute.

Majikoi A-1 - (Possible) Translation Project
Decay replied to Heizei_koukousei's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
It will be at least several more months bare minimum. If Skyspear resurrects they will have a lot of work left to do, and if Maji Translations takes over they might have to redo a lot of the work from scratch, and they're taking a break right now anyways. -
Almost no one dedicates themselves to translating nukige and it seems like his work primarily caters to kyonyuu fanatics which isn't the broadest of fetishes.

Gore Screaming Show - Translation Project
Decay replied to CryingWestern's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
MangaGamer has no problem doing mosaiced releases, so I wonder if they just never approached Giga or if there's more truth to the current wild fan speculation than one would think...
