Some final notes before I call it quits for the night: JAST also said that Seinarukana will release Fall 2015. Before the show, JAST implied that they will also have something to announce at Comic-Con next week, so fans of moege shouldn't give up just yet. This supposedly amazing home made jam from hand picked strawberries I just ate was watery and tasted like crap. SoniComi is already done with both translation and editing, and JAST is saying it will release "soon". I previously mentioned Maria translated it, she's pretty good. Ritobito was the editor and he's probably my favorite editor in the translation scene right now (worked on the Dangan Ronpa PSP fan patch). They're making it sound more ridiculous and funny than I expected and suddenly I'm actually looking forward to it when it sounded like a dud before. There's some interesting stuff happening with Muv-Luv right now including this veerrry interesting survey, where they make you choose between Rumbling Hearts/KimiNozo and the Muv-Luv side-stories and anime series. Brutal.

In business you always have only so much time, so much manpower, and so much money. You can't always do everything you want do even if a licensor is giving you free reign. Degica is making us make the hard choices, by putting up for vote whether Rumbling Hearts or the Muv-Luv side-stories should be put up as a kickstarter stretch goal: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UJoSye2rEC-UylsMXqxKIWxIFcZtwPqavo6QAVtuGLY/viewform Interesting note, one of the options for how to improve the game is updated art, including no mosaics and more gore. So that should tell you something about how they want to handle 18+ content.

My guess is that MangaGamer didn't have the time/manpower to pick up Flowers yet since they've been burning through a pretty hefty back catalogue lately, including multiple other IG titles. And IG didn't want to wait for that. Anyways, here's a review for Flowers, it's very, erm, comprehensive: https://goldensneer.wordpress.com/2014/05/25/flowers-le-volume-sur-printemps/ TL;DR: The romance side of things is way better than expected, the plot side of things is a little bit weak. Still a good VN overall. If you are a horrible person like me and want some comedy, check out Tulip Goddess Maria where she has her soul crushed for having the Flowers rug pulled out from under her... and then has to transition into shilling for JAST's other announcement because she translated it. https://twitter.com/tulipgoddess/with_replies I do feel bad for her. Edit: Something that got lost in all of this, JAST said that Seinarukana will be a Fall release as well.

No, MangaGamer is completely uninvolved, and no one there knew this was coming. My best guess is that MG wanted to wait longer to translate it (they were probably expecting to be able to start on it later this year and release it next year) and IG wanted it localized now, not later, and JAST gave them that option. JAST is claiming that the first game is a fall 2015 release, after all. Down, you should get that Dahlia game at Japan Expo and tell us if it's any good.

I'm a horrible person but I am enjoying the hell out of this schadenfreude. NOBODY at MangaGamer knew this was coming, they are all baffled by this. Tulip Goddess Maria was planning it all out and even had steam badges and achievement pics planned out. Everyone there just assumed that they could pick it up when they were ready, since they've released three IG games so far and have two more in the works.. One of the funniest bits of irony is that Maria is the one who translated SoniComi for JAST. This is all too funny to me. MG just got NTR'ed to hell and back by JAST.

It's a wonderful piece.

VN-slice of life with realistic plot and characters
Decay replied to yvetox's topic in Recommendations
Cross Channel. Most of the characters are kind of fucked up in one way or another, but they're fucked up in ways that seem plausible. Not a whole lot of slife of life, though. edit: Of course, the realism only extends to the characters themselves. The situation they find themselves in, however... -
You must have lived in some sort of fantasy world because that was never really the case. The large majority of all anime have traditionally been based on manga. There are also anime based on a variety of games and LNs (LNs are now a huge source for adaptations these days), and even fewer TV-original stories. But probably the lowest number of them all are anime based on VNs. That really never happened even close to as often as you seem to think.

So far none of them have posted information about streaming. I don't think they'll be officially streamed, although I do recall one or two being recorded last year. I'm also not sure if there will be any liveblogging, I was about to look for that. Apparently an English and French version of Dahlia, a short 18+ Yuri VN taking place in 19th century France, is being sold for the next few days at Japan Expo in France: https://www.lewdgamer.com/2015/07/02/yuri-eroge-dahlia-premiere-today-japan-expo/ A downloadable version will be released later. I can't find any further details about this because the links in that article are all dead. Maybe this is something Down should keep an eye out for . Note that this was translated by a french company known as Kikan Editions, their french translation may be a bit better than their english one. Also note, Sekai Project has previously licensed another one of the developer's games, Atom Grrrl. Also also, on a side note, FAKKU is having a panel just after JAST's ends. They translate hentai manga primarily, and they seem like cool guys. They've expressed interest in getting into eroge, there's a slim chance they might talk more about that at their panel tonight.

Who let the Moenovel execs onto the forums?
-
Most h-scenes don't show the male partner, either. At least, not clearly. Sometimes you only see their dick, sometimes you don't even see that, and a lot of the time you'll just see their back or side, with them in the corner of the screen while the girl is front and center. Basically, this and also the kissing thing is all because most VNs are pornographic eroge and the customer base likes to fap to the fantasy of themselves in these situations. If a story isn't meant to be fapped to, you're more likely to clearly see both partners kissing.

Not that it will mean anything. Traditionally, the fan translation scene produced very few moege translations. The large amount of moege translations are a relatively new phenomenon, mostly started by us. It's not too surprising that the localization companies would fall behind on that trend, since they're by and large made up of all the people from the fan scene who were previously not doing moege at all. edit: Didn't mean to double post, sorry.

Majikoi S Translation Project Discussion
Decay replied to Ouraibaa Hjyuraa's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
So help a brutha out. edit: Okay... so it got a few votes, on the same day, from people with one vote each. In before it gets reported for vote fraud. Just to cover my bases, obviously don't downvote that tag if you really do believe Agave or any other route is the true route. And feel free to vote for some other tags, too, VNDB tags can be a bit incorrect at times, I encourage people to vote often, the tag system only works when you do! -
Thank you. So the romanization would be Shinsei Tsukihime?
-
Looks about the same as his old hair. Except now with less dorky glasses attached to his face. Can anyone help me out with something? I think this deserves a new VNDB VN entry as opposed to just being a tba release on the old tsukihime page, but I'm confused on some of the details. Have they announced a new title for it or is it still just simply being referred to as Tsukihime (is there a subtitle there under the name?)? Does anyone have a good image to use for it (the one that appears on the top left of every vndb page, example)? Another question, where did you get the Shiki image from, is there another article about this somewhere besides ANN?

Majikoi S Translation Project Discussion
Decay replied to Ouraibaa Hjyuraa's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
There is no true route. The bulk of Majikoi S is based off of a scenario where Yamato doesn't fall in love with any of the main heroines from the first game (not the agave route). Even if you discount S as being non-canon, there is nothing in the first game that indicates any single route within it is more canon than the others. edit: The "One True End" tag on VNDB for Majikoi has always bothered me and comes largely as a result of the Agave route being untranslated for so long and thus most VNDB users not actually being aware of what it really was. I wish more people would downvote it. :/ -
Continuation! Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai Translation
Decay replied to AnthranDawn's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
He was obviously speaking hypothetically, dude. -
This cutscene is from this game: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Phoenix-Dalmatians-3-PS2/dp/B0002DGEGO It's an unlicensed, borderline illegal ripoff of 101 Dalmatians (there was never a third movie for that, hence "Dalmatians 3"). The gameplay seems to consist of jigsaw puzzles. You get this short film as a reward, and oh man, is it ever awful.
