  1. If only the people in charge of these decisions were psychic and could tell what would be a hit and what wouldn't. You don't order more seasons of an anime that nobody gave a shit about, and you don't license a sequel to a VN that nobody bought. Unfortunately, it seems that Demonbane wasn't very successful for JAST, how good and deserving you think it is doesn't have much to do with it.
  2. Eh, I figure Ayakashibito blends the moe/slice of life thing with chuuni more so than most chuuni. At least, when you look at the selection available in english. It's probably the closest thing to Rewrite currently in english, albeit with a darker tone once they hit the routes
  3. We all pat ourselves on the back and pretend we accomplished something important (especially those of us who did nothing).
  4. Ahahaha, Sekien no Inganock is like the anti-moe. They have a catgirl with heterochromia and somehow it's one of the darkest and dreariest games translated to english.
  5. There's only one route translated in the partial patch, but Dracu-Riot. There's a lot of moege currently in translation that you may enjoy, so if you're patient you could be getting some good stuff this year.
  6. You basically want chuuni or chuuni-esque games. Try also Ayakashibito. It has more slice-of-life scenes than Comyu. Fate/stay night could maybe qualify but its art style is kind of meh and it may not be moe enough for you. It's not chuuni, but g-senjou no maou has some slice of life and romance mixed in with a larger overall plot. Other than this, there really isn't much in the genre that's translated to english, unfortunately.
  7. You've played most of the translated moege already. Da Capo 1 is skippable and not as good as Da Capo 2. Maybe you'll like something like Deardrops or Edelweiss, but if IMHHW had too much drama then maybe Deardrops would, too. But I can't get a handle on what you'd like and not like. I mean, personally I think Ikikoi is possibly the worst VNs ever translated, and I like moege.
  8. The first ending and different storytelling style should have hinted at what was going on, but you seem to be missing something. Also, the senpai doesn't have to be the first route. You can do the other available girl's route first if you really wanted. Also, the senpai has two endings. That confused me for a little while.
  9. But the PS3 version doesn't have the Gold content, does it?
  10. Please lynch every translator who works "it can't be helped" into their scripts.
  11. The third year will pile on many more quests than even that. You are not meant to be able to 100% the game in your first playthrough. Although getting good at the dice game and ensuring that you can learn 2 or 3 spells for each character between each lesson can allow you to complete more quests, you'll never get all of them. Accept this fact now before you pull your hair out trying to get everything on your first run at the game.
  12. Well, you can understand what they're trying to say... sometimes. I guess that means "somewhat readable". It totally butchers the game, ruining 90% of the jokes, though.
  13. This was actually announced nearly a year ago. When that announcement was made, Herkz, a long-time member of the scene who has connections with the various localization companies, said that the PC version was licensed separately a while ago. JAST was the most likely suspect. Anyways, since we've heard nothing about that, I wonder if they dropped it. I think it's more likely that a PC localization will never happen, since the licensor may feel it's not worth trying to compete with a console version, although they could probably make it work if they release the Gold version. Eiyuu Senki and these licenses are trickily related. You wouldn't be able to just take the existing PC versions and port the all-ages version's content to them, since Tenco owns the rights to the PC versions' content, while 5pb owns the rights to the console versions'. This is the same reason MangaGamer had to hire an artist to redraw the Higurashi sprites even though there was already a console version with redrawn sprites, they couldn't use that content. The only way you'll see an all-ages steam version is if A) Fruitbat Factory makes a custom port of the PS3 game to PC, they probably wouldn't do this because it would be a very expensive and time consuming endeavor, or B) if JAST (or whoever is supposedly licensing the PC version) makes custom edits to remove adult content from the PC version, although they'd be unable to add any of the extra content the console versions might have added. JAST is doing a custom edit of Romanesque so that's not entirely unlikely.
  14. I wouldn't call it a troll at all. There are like one or two "mind screws" but that's not the point of the story at all so the lack of additional ones isn't a negative. I think it sets the scene very well and creates an interesting setting for these broken people to interact within.
  15. I liked the nothingness, I think Key is rather good at slice of life comedy.
  16. Just finished eden. There's not a lot to be discussed about this one, it's really straightforward. Overall, I didn't like it a whole lot. Maybe it was too straightforward. I also couldn't bring myself to like Ryou and Sion, they were both very boring characters, and Ryou's personal character arc wasn't very interesting for me. The production values are high so it's a nice and shiny VN, I understand that alone is enough to raise its average ratings on sites like VNDB, but I kind of don't understand the praise it was receiving by people like Clephas prior to its english release.
  17. No, not really. There's not a lot that's similar to g-senjou, to be honest. That sort of mind-bendy crime thriller type story isn't all that common for VNs. There are some VNs with similar aspects, though, such as Sharin no Kuni (written by the same author). If you like suspense with plot twists, there's Higurashi and Umineko from 07th Expansion, Higurashi is more metaphysical while Umineko is a murder mystery.
  18. Huniepop was removed from VNDB for that reason, actually. There are also others that could be removed from VNDB and I do have the power to do so, but me and the other staff members would probably have to have a deeper discussion on what specifically qualifies as a VN and what doesn't because there are a fair number of games that probably shouldn't be in the database. Maybe that will happen after the chaos the staff database introduced settles down (or maybe we'll continually postpone the discussion because nobody wants to have it. ). Romanesque is on my personal short list of candidates for removal. I think at the moment it is getting a pass from the sheer quantity of writing, which makes up the large majority of the game.
  19. Most visual novels are really bad. I certainly wouldn't want to read every single one.
  20. JAST and Makoto supposedly still plan on making Muramasa happen. Only expect it in a decade... they haven't even officially announced anything yet so maybe they'll just drop their plans too, who knows. Some of my most wanted translations are for titles that I know aren't kamige, and not even all that close. Stuff like Tsujidou-san no Junai Road, Flyable Heart, and the Akagoei trilogy are the kinds of games I'm wanting a translation for most, more so than your Dies Iraes and Baldr Skies, although I'd definitely read the shit out of those if given a chance.
  21. You people really need to learn about alt+tab or alt+f4 or something. Ain't no reason to act so flustered turning off monitors or whatever. It's super easy to instantly minimize or close the program you're in. Well, I used to have to dodge my parents when looking at porn or whatever when I still lived with them, and didn't have my own computer yet, but I managed to avoid any close calls. Certainly nothing with eroge. I enjoy total privacy nowadays.
  22. With Nekopara, it's an issue of Neko Works wanting to get all of the money from 18+ digital sales. Buying it from their site will still get you a version with an english translation. This won't be an issue with Grisaia and I see no reason why they won't offer a digital edition of the 18+ version.
