  1. Well, maybe you really should wait, because Pablo is going to release the updated restoration patch with a TLCed and edited Kotori route Soon™.
  2. You're being really petty. I dunno, just deal with it? Their site probably isn't coded to allow region specific anime listings. Maybe they could change that, but it seems unnecessary for such an incredibly minor issue.

    Moeges

I can see how you get that from what I said, but it's not what I really meant. It's actually the reverse, instead of saying that moege is only translated by newbie low-level ametuer translators, I'm saying that newbie low-level ametuer translators tend to stick to moege. If I wanted to draw a venn diagram, I'd also probably show that it's possible for highly skilled and experienced translators to work on moege too.

    Moeges

Well, I can like them, but I also tend to lose interest in them pretty quickly if they aren't pretty far above average. The dialog has to be well written, and the humor needs to actually be funny and not the same generic tropes I've seen a million times with no spin on them. Most moege don't deliver, but thankfully translators cherry pick the better ones (with some exceptions, see Koi Iro Chu Lips...). You better be able to tolerate them if you want to keep on reading VNs in the next year or two, because most of the translation projects nowadays are for moege. For the longest time, it was all plot-based stuff with some dabbling in more serious charage. But our own translation community is translating like 90% light and fluffy moege it seems, which is really skewing things. I wonder what it is that set us in that direction. edit: Moege also often leads to the biggest disappointments. You can get a decent idea of what you're getting with other genres, but moege just sells itself on cuteness. Several times now I thought "wow this seems cute and funny!" going in, only to end up bored to tears or worse. Latest disappointment: SakuSaku. It was so highly rated! But those character routes are soooo bad. Once a moege has passed the first hurdle (having at least passable humor and characters in the common route), the next biggest seems to be how well they transition that into the character routes. That's where SakuSaku crashed and burned.
  6. No, we're talking about the plans for vouchers/coupons for kickstarter backers. They haven't mentioned how that will work yet. That tweet was already mentioned in this thread.
  7. "It's crap, 7/10" - IGN's newest employee, Clephas.

    Hearthstone

'Sup dead thread? I got my first 12 win Arena run of the new year. B) http://www.heartharena.com/arena-run/a842ho Also if anyone here plays arena, they should check out Hearth Arena for sure. It's the best drafting aid yet. I used to never use those kind of drafting tools, but it's really neat and gives me some interesting perspectives from time to time, and the part where it categorizes your cards is really handy. Just don't blindly follow it without actually thinking about the choices. One of the biggest hurdles for new players is learning which cards are actually good and which should be avoided at all costs (stop picking Mogu'shan Warden newbies, goddamn), this can at least help with that learning curve.
  9. Agarest is terrible. It's a slow, boring, and tedious slog of a game whose attempted innovations only served to mire down the gameplay even further. The story is incredibly generic. It has nothing to offer other than some unexceptional anime waifus. Don't buy Agarest, it is seriously a bottom-tier SRPG.
  10. Either way, you aren't actually charged until the project's end date.
  11. They said they will do so before the campaign is over. There's no benefit to backing sooner, so you may as well wait until all of the information is available.
  12. That's still mostly unknown. They still haven't announced how backers will get the 18+ version, so you should probably wait until they do if you're unsure of what tier to back at.
  13. Funnily enough, apparently MangaGamer wasn't even approached by Valve and they had to pester them after the sale started to get involved. Are they really that easily forgotten, or does someone at Valve hold a grudge? (I think they're the only ones who are selling censored eroge currently)
  14. Kara no Shoujo doesn't really fit the bill here. The protagonist may not be a standard one but it's not truly a revenge tale nor is he a dark person. Cross Channel is sort of close, the protagonist can be pretty dark, but he's also cheery a lot of the time and revenge isn't a part of it. There really aren't many translated VNs that could qualify. But for something completely different, you should totally watch the american political drama House of Cards, featuring a very dark anti-hero protag driven almost purely by revenge.
  15. You barely get the sense that it's a student council. It feels like just another meaningless club, the likes of which you've seen dozens of times in various anime and VNs. The only real indicator is that sometimes as background for a scene somebody might be doing paperwork, or they might use some unimportant duty as an excuse for two characters to do something together. They never go into details of their actual work. If you liked the game up to that point, the student council scenes are probably not going to make you dislike it as it's just more of the same.
  16. Steins;Gate is definitely my favored one between those two, but it's a matter of taste. Ayakashibito is a route based game while steins;gate is mostly linear. It has some alternate endings but they're tiny mini-routes that are like half an hour each. Ayakashibito has at least somewhat standard heroine routes with slice of life comedy followed by almost standard eroge-style romance and drama, but of course they throw in a lot of action as well. Steins;Gate is more of a sci-fi thriller. In my opinion, it has more deeply developed characters and a more intriguing overall storyline. I guess it depends on what you're in the mood for.
  17. Kaoru in Ayakashibito and Amane in Konosora immediately came to mind. A lot of the others mentioned are merely one year older senpais, I'm unsure if that's what you're looking for. There's also a teacher route in Edelweiss but that game is kind of bad.
  18. There was actually no kissing at all in the first episode.
  19. You better not be dissing the lesbears. Ikuhara may never make a show as great as Utena ever again but Penguindrum was good and I'll watch anything he does. Although yeah, it's profoundly stupid. edit: Seriously, if you thought the first episode of Penguindrum was incomprehensible, you're going to have a real good time trying to make heads and tails out of Yuri Kuma Arashi.
  20. Sekai Project will claim that almost any VN is "possible", and there's a whole a laundry list of VNs I'd rather see localized before Eustia.
  21. My first one was probably Pokemon during my 6th and 7th grades, although I started watching DBZ at around the same time. The first fansub I watched was Evangelion probably a few years after it aired when a high school buddy handed me some burned CDs with the entire series. It was two 700mb CDs that contained the whole series in .RM format, it was super low res and really blurry, but somehow it was the perfect gateway drug into the rest of the anime world.
