The all-ages script was already modified. In the Japanese Vita version, they made some alterations to Angelic Howl, for example: Koestl has said that he will be reverting all "unnecessary" script changes. They cannot restore any scenes that were outright cut, but any script changes will probably be reverted back to how they were in the 18+ version. Basically, they think that outside of the h-scenes, nothing in the 18+ version would have prevented an M rating by the ESRB and that's what they're shooting for.

Arunaru says he'll translate VI once he's done with Mamatoto. That's probably for the best.

Well, that's pretty bad news. Koestl seems to be pretty vocally displeased about this. As of now, he's saying that the 18+ version will be out one month later.

Like most of the previous 07th stuff, Rose Gun Days comes in four parts, and only parts 1, 2, and half of 3 are translated.

I've played around ten arena runs in the past couple days and really like GvG so far. I'm glad Blizzard took this approach to releasing it, mostly because I'm all about arena and don't care much for constructed, so for me it's like they suddenly released the expansion a week early. I think both Priest and Rogue probably saw the biggest overall improvements in Arena, with Paladin and Mage also seeing some really strong arena additions. So the previously four best classes (in my opinion) just got even better, while some of the weaker arena classes like warrior and warlock didn't improve much at all. Oh, and with the addition of Glaivezooka, Hunter got way better as well, they're really solid in arena now.

The cut content is was almost certainly the scenes with bestiality, and that's because of legal reasons. Many countries make it illegal, including a lot of the US. If they are to sell Starless in the US and most of Europe, it definitely has to be a cut version. Blame the law.

The gore wasn't extreme or anything. The worst of it was only described in text with accompanying sound effects. I'll echo the suggestion to start with Cartagra. The story doesn't matter, but KnS had some recurring characters and you will perhaps be a bit more invested in the events if you are more familiar with them.

I think I'll finish off Cross Channel, just have seeks six and seven to go. That's doable in a day, right? Or are the final two weeks really long? It felt like 4 and 5 were kind of short. Also, the dialog seems like it's becoming more difficult to follow. I'm a natural english speaker and am pretty good at reading and comprehension, so I wonder how much of this is due to the translation and how much is due to the original script being difficult. After this, I kind of want to go on a Tanaka Romeo journey. I may not be able to read Japanese, but he had more stuff translated than I thought. Or more accurately, he was responsible for more of the translated VNs out there than I expected. This may be a bit off topic, but I want some consultation and don't feel like starting a new thread in recommendations for something so minor. Four options: Kana Imouto, Kazoku Keikaku (Family Project), Yume Miru Kusuri, or the unexpected option: the Humanity Has Declined anime. I haven't read the first two VNs and got halfway through the Aeka route in YMK before dropping it (but I'll give it another chance). I watched the first three episodes of HHS and enjoyed it but never finished it for mysterious reasons. I'll say that I'm not really into incest at all but if the story is good then I'll still read it. I'd like it if some people will share their thoughts on these. edit: Oh, and I was planning on re-reading Rewrite at some point, but not right now. I was actually very surprised to see that Romeo wrote the Humanity Has Declined LNs, since I didn't get the same vibe from those eps as the vibe I got from his other stuff at all. Maybe it's different in writing.

I'm reading Cross Channel. Once I got used to the main character, the VN became quite endearing. I still generally dislike the protagonist's pervertedness but once I learned more about the settings and characters and the MC's mentality, I became able to accept the humor at face value. If there's one thing Tanaka Romeo is really good at, it's writing a very funny protagonist. Main characters who aren't just the butt of all the jokes or the comedic straight man. The only other VN of his that I read was Rewrite while there are a ton of differences between Taichi and Kotarou, the big common thread is that they're both independently very funny people. I very much appreciate this and now consider Romeo to be one of the funniest VN authors out there. Of course, it's not all comedy. Another one of Rewrite's main themes that I thought wasn't explored very well was the dissolution and mending of friendships. Cross Channel is almost exclusively about this and explores it much more intimately. It's also seemingly the main theme of Saihate no Ima. It makes me think that Romeo holds some trauma over destroyed friendships from his teenage years. Hopefully Saihate will be eventually translated, although it's such a seemingly daunting task that I have my doubts. It's apparently holds an even more convoluted narrative than Cross Channel.

Is there something wrong about the Cross Channel guide? I'm stuck repeating week 3, following the choices exactly doesn't advance me to week 4. edit: Part of the problem was my fault, part of it was the guide. I didn't properly get all of the preceding "endings". The week 2 guide is missing a choice and due to the way the VN works, it led to a lot of confusion on my part. In the Week #2 section please add the choice "Go to School" between "Eat them by myself" and "Talk to Touko". Once I figured out the ending I was missing, I was able to unlock the choice that led to the Miki route.

Frontwing appears to be holding SP back. They needed to get Frontwing's approval for certain things such as restructuring the goal so the base goal is for the entire trilogy, and the new price tiers.

I'm the only one who voted for I/O??? I think it's quite good, but I also never played Tsukihime. I also voted for Inganock. Sharnoth is also quite good, but Inganock is the earlier title and probably even better.

Are they anything more than fans, right now? Have they struck any deals with Chunsoft already? Is there anything on paper that allows them to actually raise funds for Zero Escape 3 right now? The thing is, it's a really bizarre claim to make when they actually aren't affiliated with the license holders at all. At worst, it's downright illegal, at best it's morally wrong and sketchy as hell. How can they say with such confidence that they WILL fund ZE3 when nothing is on paper yet? How many people are going to give them money, believing that it will go to the production of ZE3, when they don't have the ability to actually do what they claim? If they continue to advertise the ZE3 funding aspect without properly licensing the Zero Escape IP from Chunsoft before they start the kickstarter, kickstarter will probably shut their project down. They should at the very least be aware of that.

Umineko definitely has the strongest overall soundtrack of any VN I've read. It's incredibly vast. With over 150 different tracks, you think of the phrase "throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks" but there actually are no bad ones, there wasn't a single BGM that I actually disliked. The vastness brought a lot of variety, with really great tracks for every kind of mood, from depression, to comical scenes, to drama, to action. The music from all categories are pretty much top-tier when compared to other VNs. It's also used very skillfully, with every scene having the perfect accompaniment to bring out the right mood. None of the tracks felt wasted or unnecessary, and the variety helped push you through an incredibly long read. A great example of a piece that is perfect for the scenes it's used in. Discolor is a good name for it. Umineko has several organ-dominated tracks and this is one of the better ones. It fits a certain character's particular brand of evil quite well. I don't normally go for crappy low-grade video game buttrock, but I do like this one. It's not even used for action like you might expect, but somehow it's perfect for a dramatic stage performance. Like I said, I really like how they used the music almost as much as the music itself. I'm pretty sure this doesn't actually do anything. All content in spoiler tags, including videos and screenshot, get loaded by the browser even without clicking on the spoiler. It's just hidden. Still a good idea just for keeping the thread easier to read.

There are definitely big similarities between Cartgra and KnS, but that's only natural. There are also major differences. Cartagra is pure VN with only the standard choices to guide the story (no "clicking parts", no evidence presentation, etc), and its true ending is available from the start. It feels like less of a chore to go through. Cartagra is still pretty dark with some gore, untimely deaths, and so on, but it's not an utsuge. There are a lot more comedic moments. The main heroine is a total goofball of a character, lightening the mood of every scene she's in. It's also shorter, probably only 3/5ths the length of KnS. One of the things I feel it does worse than KnS is that the protagonist feels less capable as a detective. Anyways, give it a shot, it's not bad.

They should perhaps use that ambition in a less misguided manner. Trying to profit by using the Zero Escape name (we'll totally make ZE3 if you buy this!) when they don't have the license is a really scummy thing to do. They're attempting to profit off another's work when they have no ties to that person/company.

Well, after going through the trial, I have to say that I enjoy this more than most of August's other moege. Also the translation isn't bad at all. It could use an editing pass but it seems fine. Now I'm really looking forward to the finished product. Let's hope the August curse doesn't strike again. -
I just finished Kara no Shoujo. It was alright. I think it might have been overrated, it was good but not as good as some of the ratings and hype it gets implies. I think the alternate endings take way too much effort to achieve for how little you get. Replaying the game is actually a pain in the ass. I might have thought better of it if I could have just gotten the true ending right away and there weren't even anything else other than the bad ends along the way. Also, I find it pretty unusual that (ending spoilers) I'm about to start another hyped game from my back catalog, Cross Channel. But I'm running into technical issues. First of all, full screen doesn't work, it just moves the window to the top left of my screen. This is really bad since the game is freaking 640x480. Okay, so I'll use windows' screen magnification tool (it's how I played umineko and higurashi). Except that doesn't work the way I want it to with Aero disabled, and for whatever stupid reason, the english patch disables Aero. The unpatched executable does not, so I don't understand why it's different. Ugh. I finally worked up the will to read this thing and it's trying its hardest to stop me from doing so. edit: Problem solved by installing from scratch by downloading and using the original Japanese discs. Now I know why Ixrec always complains about Fuwanovel's pre-installed torrents. CC's is pretty messed up.

Danganronpa 1 and 2 both have PSP and Vita versions in Japan. In english, Danganronpa 1 received a fan translation patch for the PSP version, and almost as soon as that was released, NIS America announced that they would translate and release the Vita version of DR1 in english. It's a new translation. After that, they translated and released DR2 for the Vita. So DR1 has PSP and Vita versions in english, while DR2 is Vita-only in english.
