I get you're excited to post here, but we don't really need all of these threads, do we? A lot of them seem to serve very little purpose. This could have been a reply to the Zelda Maker thread for instance. Please refrain from spamming the forums with a bunch of threads few people will post in.

onomatope*'s lastest title - Kyuuketsuki no Libra - is coming to Steam
Decay replied to Satsuki's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I'm pretty sure translators are being paid a little bit more these days than they used to. And if they aren't, they should be, because MangaGamer's wages were downright exploitative and dirty. So I'm okay with them asking for more on that front. $170k though, that is a TALL order. This is an unknown game from an unknown company (in the west) being brought to us by an upstart localization company. I am very highly skeptical that this can actually reach that goal. -

I wouldn't say that Umineko's ending is inconclusive at all. It leaves a thing or two up to interpretation but the actual storyline has a pretty firm resolution.

princess evangile w happiness english release date ?
Decay replied to black-cat's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Princess Evangile actually took a long time to go from announcement to release. Something like a year and a half. w happiness will hopefully take less time but don't expect it to go too quickly. In fact, they haven't announced any progress at all yet and you shouldn't assume anything. -
I have complex thoughts on the matter of voice-less auto play streams. On one hand: Being perfectly frank, I didn't really enjoy many of your streams up until this point because I felt like the line reading detracted from the VN itself. This is mainly due to my attitude when I watch LPs in general. On the other hand: I've really enjoyed your Noble Works streams. But that's really because I've already read the route you're playing. You're an entertaining guy, but I don't know if I could watch if you suddenly started playing content I haven't gotten to yet. So I guess ultimately I'd appreciate no-voice streams more. On the other other hand: I personally believe that if you were to upload entire routes as nothing but the VN playing in auto-play mode, that would basically be equivalent to piracy. I guess I'm in Batman's camp, where ultimately if I want to read a VN, I'll get it and read it myself. And if I want your commentary and whatever, I'll watch your normal streams.

Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
Decay replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Many of those titles on MangaGamer's site are NOT well known in japan. In fact, very few are. MangaGamer licenses a lot of obscure and unpopular titles (Harukoi Otome, for example) and plenty of nukige. SP is kind of in the same boat, they localize a lot of obscure doujin stuff no one has ever heard of. But they also have licensed a number of titles that are very well known and popular, even in Japan, such as the Grisaia series and Clannad. And they have also partnered with Akabei Soft, Yuzusoft, and other well known eroge developers. I don't think SP has any centralized source of information for all of their projects, but you can look at their VNDB page to see what kind of stuff they're bringing over. You may find plenty of "worthy" VNs there: https://vndb.org/p162 -
Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
Decay replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
MangaGamer hires from the same pool of translators that Sekai Project does. Sekai Project also doesn't force anyone to pay for anything they don't want to. People know exactly what they're getting up front with these kinds of translation kickstarters. And they choose whether or not they want to buy in of their own free will. The VN is only at risk of not getting a translation if they don't get enough money. But if this happens, Kickstarter works on an all-or-nothing basis, where SP will get no one's money if the project doesn't reach its goal. So really, I have no idea where you're coming from here. You sound heavily misinformed. -
Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
Decay replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
This is an extremely subjective post. Many people would consider titles like Tenshin Ranman and Root Double worthy. If you want those games you listed to be localized, bug MangaGamer. They have partnerships with all three developers. -
Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
Decay replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
The "brief but salient point" was how SP doesn't have control over what they don't have control over. SP had very little control over how the WAS project was run until just recently. They took over control of the project from the doujin circle and now is saying that they can't give full details until it's approved by their lawyers. It certainly sounds like some kind of messy legal nonsense went down surrounding this project. -
Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project
Decay replied to InvertMouse's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I don't know, maybe you should stop. edit: Okay, I won't stoop to your level and will actually try to be at least halfway productive in my posting. If you have a rebuttal, then fucking post it instead of shitting and running. Bats' point was brief but salient. The doujin circle behind WAS was in almost complete control of the project and were making a mess of things. Sekai Project had to engage in a legal battle just so they can do this much and try to make things right for people. Apparently this makes them a villain? Shit happens with kickstarter projects. They almost never go as planned. What actually matters is how these companies handle things when they go bad and whether or not they'll actually deliver on their promises. It sounds like things will get on track with WAS again and they will actually deliver. That would make it a successful project in my books. Do you have an actual rebuttal for this or will you just post another asinine one liner? -
Fuwans, How Do You Bond With Your Siblings?
Decay replied to Nosebleed's topic in General Discussion
This is just solid life advice for all situations. I've seen people here and elsewhere go against this advice way too often, and it almost never actually works out like they expect. -
Narcissu 10th Anniversary Anthology Project

Cool. I haven't played the Narcissu games yet but I've heard good things. A well-featured re-release/anthology would be enough to pull me in. -
And it's now at 75%. At this rate, translation will finish by the end of November. Arunaru is a machine.

I finished Life is Strange. It's a good game. I'm not entirely a fan of how large parts of the final episode were handled, it was hard to feel engaged by it. But I thought the conclusion was well done and I enjoyed the series as a whole. Even though it's in another genre, I think someone could sit down and really dissect that game and go into detail about the kinds of lessons VN developers could learn from it. I'm kind of feeling lazy, though.

Nichijou is fantastic and would be my #1 recommendation here.

Why do they look like they're horribly ill? Someone needs to take these poor ladies to the hospital.

It's not so much that it spoils you on Cartagra, just that there are some moments in KnS1 that are less impactful if you don't do so. It's actually ultimately not that big of a thing, but since both games are out now I feel obligated to let people know about this, since there have been a number of people who have inadvertently made this mistake. Apparently the events of Cartagra play a bigger role in KnS2.
-
It also shows up in Noble Works.
-
There's just no reason not to read Cartagra first! Especially if you plan on reading KnS2, which builds off of the Cartagra characters and story even more. Cartagra isn't the greatest VN out there but it's worth reading, you'll do yourself a disservice if you read the games out of order or skip it completely.

onomatope*'s lastest title - Kyuuketsuki no Libra - is coming to Steam
Decay replied to Satsuki's topic in Visual Novel Talk
As long as you don't start when Muv Luv is in its final couple days, it's fine. Some overlap is okay. -
It has to be doing something weird with the scaling. I've seen some simple avatars with large, crisp source images look like crap. This sounds stupid, but I wonder if it's downscaling to the old resolution of 90x90 then upscaling back to 120x120.

Earlier today I lazily stretched out my legs before getting out of bed. I pulled a calf muscle in the process. WTF. I told Tay I pulled the muscle while stretching, he complimented me for at least doing stretches. I didn't have the willpower to correct him. Yes, Tay, I AM awesome!
