  1. I agree with most of the above. There's also two Tenshin Ranman translations in progress right now. Just in case you wanted even more of that particular company in your life.
  2. This button right here is what you're looking for:
  3. They don't allow you to ask about pirating games or where to pirate games from, which of course they wouldn't allow that, why would you even complain that they don't allow that? If they did, the emulator would be crushed by Sony.
  4. Meh. I'll stick with not learning Japanese.
  5. My gym teacher told us to have our arms at right angles and feet together. Kind of like a bench press against the ground. I didn't realize there was a better way. *shrug*

    ????? Damn you're fickle.
  7. Maybe. The original plan was to use the fan TL as a base and edit that. Then they were met with heavy resistance over that idea since the fan TL is so bad. They then promised to translate it from scratch, and named a team of translators who would be on it who were experienced with translating manga professionally. So it sounds like that's what really happened. They also said, I guess to not publicly shaft Doki Fansubs completely, that SP would look into how to best utilize the "resources" they were offering. It sounded like simple platitudes to me, but it's not impossible that they found some parts that were less bad than others (it's the After Story that's the worst) and used that. That would go against what they actually said they were doing, which was redoing literally everything from scratch.
  8. They did the Clannad translation from scratch. There should be nothing from the fan patch in the official release.
  9. Even though there are multiple VNs on your VNDB wishlist with translations in progress... For me, it's probably either Reminiscence or Subahibi.
  10. This is what my stickied thread is for! patch link and the h-scene patch.
  11. Yuuji's kind of a shitheel, so whatever. The real marvel is how Best Mom Rosa didn't make it onto the worst female characters list.
  12. Umineko is #3 on the "best translation" list, absolute top fuckin' kek right there. Also 33%: "As long as I can follow the VN, I'll accept plenty of errors." This is why we can't have nice things.
  13. Started playing Undertale yesterday. I was ready to be underwhelmed and disappointed by the excessive hype it's been receiving. And... nope! It's incredibly good! The writing is great. It has a lot of charming characters, a good sense of humor, and some pretty strong emotional beats. The music is also fantastic and matches very well with the setting and the moods the writing generates. The art is... well, it's not the best but they made it work. The sprites aren't technical marvels but each one fits the personalities of the characters greatly and are pretty well designed. It amazes me how good this game literally made almost entirely by a single person is. And it warms the cockles of my heart to witness its slow but steady rise to popularity. Every day the game's old simultaneous players record on Steam is broken, and it has recently surpassed 100k sales. Good on Toby Fox. Unfortunately it is no longer the undisputed #1 rated PC game of all time on metacritic, instead it's just tied for first.
  14. Youtube embeds are HUGE! They stretch to the full width of the post field, which seems really excessive. Maybe it would be better to bring them back to a more normal size, if possible?
  15. LABEL YOUR SPOILERS! Seriously dude, what the hell.
  16. It's certainly not that simple. It just doesn't seem to be of very high quality and it also doesn't seem to properly cater to its target audience, which does exist on kickstarter.
  17. Her point was one about first impressions. The genre is typically aimed at men. See the VNDB tag for "only-trap heroines" and there also being plenty of bishoujo VNs with the occasional crossdressing male thrown in. This might make the typical fujoshi crowd a bit more weary on it at first even if it's aimed at them.
  18. Oh yeah, speaking of buggy URLs, here's something I found last night and promptly forgot about. It's probably a bug in the core invision code and thus not fixable but I figure I'll report it anyways. Add img tags, then between them add a url to an image. It tries to paste that url as a link. Then around the tags click with the mouse or press the arrow keys with the cursor over them, and watch as it adds junk characters to the post. The image will still be properly embedded, however.
  19. Not saying there isn't a problem, but you could perhaps not be searching as efficiently as possible. You could use quotation marks to search for an exact phrase for example. Searching for "Anime Openings" in quotes yields this: http://forums.fuwanovel.net/search/?q="anime+openings" Oddly enough, it says that there are 0 results. Then it proceeds to list the results, one of which is the 2013 anime OP/ED thread by solidbatman (is that what you're looking for?).
  20. I'd like to single this out specifically so I can say that $40 is NOT what most people are willing to spend on VNs, which is the whole point of this split in the first place. The last year of VNs being on Steam showed us something very important, that price is one of the biggest factors for a VN's popularity. Low-costing inferior products outsell high-costing superior products by a disproportionately large amount. Even a VN with the popularity of Grisaia isn't immune from this. It has sold only around 6-7,000 copies outside of its kickstarter. Therefore, SP is exploring alternative payment options. I still like my episodic idea a lot better because you could set lower price-points, but maybe that would take too much engine rejiggering to be viable, or perhaps there was a licensing issue, who knows.
  21. If they have price parity between the all-ages and adult versions, then they'll be doing better than MangaGamer.
  22. You are really jumping the gun here.
  23. You're not interpreting their tweets correctly and they're expressing interest in having an upgrade option. They said they aren't allowed to handle this via the Steam DLC system. With the way Japanese voice agencies work, I would not be surprised in the slightest if they couldn't release voices as DLC because the agencies mandate that the voices be bundled with the game and not available separately in any way. However, Steam also supports setting it up so the voice version would be $20 if you already own the unvoiced version, and it sounds like SP wants to do this.
  24. Users can post threads in the Translation Projects forum. I believe that's not supposed to be possible (threads are meant to be moved there, right?).
