Little Busters Converted Edition PSP translation
Decay replied to Baldur's topic in Fan Translation Discussion
Because it offers no benefit over the PC version and most posters here prefer playing VNs on PC over PSP. The 1.0 version probably isn't going to be released "soon" unless you have an odd definition of "soon". Since the patch creator doesn't do their own translations, it's reliant on when Doki will finish their translation of the ME/EX versions, and that could take a very long time. -
Nah.Like everything else in this game it's just kind of okay, I guess? Masaya is particularly stupid in it, but he's pretty much an idiot in every route.

I thought the animation was incredibly bad. The h-scenes were slightly better but still really bad. I thought those were so bad that it was impossible to find them erotic, they were actually comical. Anyways, I wrote multiple large effort posts on School Days in the "What are you playing?" thread and some are lost to the forums rollback. I won't bother recreating them but the gist of it is that I think it's a kind of bad game. Most people shit on the game with Makoto hate but I thought he was fine. I think most of the Makoto haters only watched the anime, but he's fine in the game, where you're in control and can make him do sensible things. The main areas I hated were the animation (extremely bad), the sometimes inconsistent characters, the branching structure of the game being unnecessarily convoluted, making completing multiple routes a real pain in the ass (especially with how they used both choices and relationship points to determine the paths). I also had some more specific complaints, like how the Setsuna "route" was handled. The good points include how the amount choices really does pull you into the world, and the realism of the drama. Realistic drama isn't always good, and it's not necessarily fully realistic in School Days, but it feels like the game was written by people who actually know how teenagers talk and interact with each other which is rare in eroge. Some of the plot points were just a little bit too convenient in some of the routes, though. Overall I felt that the bad outweighed the good, and I don't particularly like School Days, but I didn't hate it either and I thought it was a pretty interesting experience and I don't regret my time with it. I'm now actually pretty interested in Shiny Days, too.

I didn't actually like Tomoko's voice a lot of the time but sometimes it was pretty good. But yeah, her seiyuu has some good range. She also voiced Kokoro from Majikoi, and it's normally an ear-splittingly shrill voice but every once in a while you'll hear Michiru from Grisaia in there and it feels strange because it's otherwise completely different.

If you have downloaded VNs from Fuwanovel before, it was over six months ago, because that was when we have taken down all of the download links. If you look on the main site, there are no more download links. We aren't allowed to share links on the forums or even direct people to pirate sites anymore, sorry. Fuwanovel has progressed from "scandalously taboo" to "barely legal". You can monitor progress by checking in with the weekly Visual Novel Translation Status updates on the fuwanovel blog: http://blog.fuwanovel.net/tag/vnts/We will keep you up to date with any developments. Don't expect anything any time soon, though.

Fuwanovel does not allow download links of any kind. Sorry, but we can't help you find what you're looking for. However, I will say that the patch for the EX version only takes the translated content from the original game's translation patch and applies it to the EX game. Any additional content is not translated. I don't think it's even available in that version. There is no patch that translates any of the new content from EX. There is one in the works, but it's taking a long time.

Rejoice, the VN franchise is saved. Sakura Beach released
Decay replied to SilverLi's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Not generally, no. Games should be judged based on what they are trying to achieve and the value they bring to the player. Maybe you can consider the price as an aside, but in my opinion when evaluating a game you should judge it as it is, with as little outside context brought into that process as possible. Judge it on its own merits and nothing else. -

I don't write reviews, but I guess I am sometimes opinionated, and when I am, I am generally trying to direct people away from bad games regardless of where they come from. If there's an OELVN that is quite bad but a similar Japanese VN that doesn't suck exists, I'll suggest people just play that Japanese one instead. And if the reverse ever happened, I'd suggest the OELVN over the Japanese one (although I've yet to run into this). I'm not even so presumptuous to think that I can stop certain games from being made. I just want to advise people towards better games if possible. -

And your way has reviewers throwing consumers under the bus in order to support a shitty and flawed market. Here's the thing, they're the same kinds of games. Yes, big budget games have an advantage. Indie developers in other markets have found ways around that issue, but indie VN developers struggle with this. At the end of the day, if I have the choice of playing a higher quality VN made on with an actual budget or an ametuer VN with shaky writing and poor production values, guess which one I'm going to pick? It's an unfair comparison but it doesn't matter, they are literally in direct competition with each other. The world is unfair like that. -
It only takes two hours because of the natural human instinct to close the game every time Chinami screeches out another "Onii-chan Onii-chan Onii-chan!"

VNs that start with a Bang (aka they get right to the point)

Demonbane has a training arc but I feel like it doesn't beat around the bush very much. -

I'm at a lost for words... (HuniePop discussion)
Decay replied to sarayne's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Huniepop WAS shit, but I guess a lot of people have never played a match 3 game with additional gameplay before or something. -
There are actually four routes. Guess which character has two. I'd say that Kashiwara's is the weakest of them all. edit: Maybe it's more accurate to say 3.5 routes.

Is "bot" shorthand for "update the OP with basic project information"? Because maybe that would help. -
Oh my, Clover Days is actually going to finish some time this century, isn't it? Thank you ittaku.

You know, HuniePop actually had decent art. This new game looks like shit. -

This releases on the same day as Beach Bounce. OMG, which sexy beach resort VN do I read?? The answer is wait for KoiRizo. -
I've finished several endings in School Days so I feel like writing a little about it. I've already shat on the animation. It's still terrible throughout the whole thing. Is the rest of it good enough to make up for the animation deficiencies? No. I still find it a pretty amusing and compelling game, but it's never amusing for the right reasons (more because of the laughably bad animations among other issues), and the only compelling part is the amount of choice that you're given which affects the narrative. But that choice needs to come along with some strong writing in order to be worthwhile, and you won't find that here. The drama is contrived, the characters are inconsistent, the storylines are sometimes laughably stupid, and there are many frustrating moments where it feels like your choice is ignored. Oddly enough, I don't seem to be hating Makoto as much as everyone else. Every time this game comes up in conversation, you immediately hear hate for Makoto. He comes up often in worst protagonist discussions. But... I dunno, he just seems kind of normal? He makes some boneheaded decisions, but he does some cool stuff, too, and overall it's almost impressive how much like a normal teenager he comes off as. I suppose people want something more, but it's at least slightly interesting to witness a normal person try to untangle this messy web of relationships. Granted, I haven't gotten any bad ends yet, so I can't say for sure that my opinion will remain the same. I think people may have only watched the anime and judged Makoto solely via that, but in the game he seems fine, honest. The storylines themselves are kind of bad. I'm going to go over one in detail because it does something I rather dislike. This one is about Setsuna. Setsuna, one of the side heroines, had one end to her. She is the side heroine with the most effort spent on developing a relationship between her and the protagonist, and is also the only one that doesn't have an ending of her own. Her ending is actually a joke end appended to one of two other possible endings for other heroines. That in of itself is kind of bullshit. But I also take issue with the way that story branch is handled.Mild spoilers ahead: There is still one more major story branch I've yet to touch on, one of the Kotonoha ones. I'll get an ending or two in that and that may be all I play of this. I'm certainly not going to 100% it. Overall, though, I'm certainly not too hot on it. The animation gimmick was such a waste. It's terribly done, and it makes me wonder how much money they would have saved making it a sprite-based game with intermittent animated cutscenes. If they did that they could use more of the budget on the cutscenes that were there and make them actually look decent. And for the rest of the game, proper sprites and occasional CGs would look a lot better than the garbage we ended up with. I see now that there's a very good reason 0verflow went bankrupt.

My issue with spoilers in the School Days HQ guide still stand. Also some of the guides are wrong. The Bavarois guide is wrong, as far as I can tell. I follow the directions exactly and ended up on a different path where the choices were different. That whole guide is kind of a mess, to be honest.

Been playing more school days. Some of these endings are so hilariously stupid. You know, this game is quite bad, but at least I can laugh at it, which is more than I can say for a lot of other bad eroge. This Hikari end...

Absolutely. The second and third game seem largely optional but heavily recommended, but you really have to play Kajitsu/Fruit first.
