  1. I tried to get a hold of Nagato through the Amaterasu Translations forums and through Ixrec's Twitter but had no success. Does Nagato no longer do fan translation work? I hear that Ixrec and Nagato are both quite good at reverse engineering VNs
  2. So nobody has effectively extracted the script files yet? Sorry for asking so many questions senpai I haven't been keeping up with the news since I have my own project to worry about
  3. I have been waiting for Kohaku Translations to finish up with Tokeijikake no Ley Line -Tasogaredoki no Kyoukaisen- for ages
  4. The fact that I'll get reamed by the professor if I don't go to calculus class gets me out of bed pretty easily. But in all honesty, I don't really need motivation to start my day. My day could turn out to be really amazing or really shitty but I won't know until I just get out there and live.
  5. I'm not a hacker so I don't know the details but didn't they use a tool made for Rewrite to extract scripts from AB! ? You could find out how the people over at Amaterasu Translations organized the scripts for Rewrite and do the same?
  6. Oh that's a juicy piece of information Who else has their sights set on it? We probably aren't going to unless Kazamatsuri decides to machine TL it, which I heard they were planning on doing (but I might not be right so don't quote me on that part) Edit: Although we already have a translator for it if we do decide to pick it up...
  7. Welcome to the forums~
  8. This. Just gotta have a bit of sense and you can make any image into a great signature
  9. This has always made me question how valuable a project lead can possibly be if they don't know the language. Leadership skills are a must, but I have always believed that the translators are the heart of the team and deserve to have the loudest voice in matters. So far I have found all of the staff members for Skyspear either right here on Fuwanovel after making a thread or, oddly enough, through emails from people who saw our external website. Before adding them to the team I always make sure to give them a small test. For translators I always give the same test so that I can build up a bank of possible responses. For editors, as Nosebleed mentioned, it's just makes things easy to look at some of their past work. By making a website and linking it to VNDB a lot of potential is generated. Looking at the statistics for the website has shown that the word does get around without any direct soliciting from the team itself. Reddit actually seems to be a community that stays in the know. Twitter also helps to spread general knowledge of a new project. Assembling a team is like fishing. Patience is key

  16. I would frame it and hang it on my wall. Then when I was old and grey I could tell my grandchildren about how much of a rebel I was.
  17. Did someone say Supreme Candy?
  18. I'm not trying to say that Japan has the same interests as all of Asia, but Japanese works are indeed popular all over, just look at South Korea. And although book sales =/= reading habits there is a direct correlation between the two. You can guarantee that even people who aren't avid readers will enjoy VNs of their favorite anime. But I'm mostly speaking to VNs that don't have an anime equivalent. You make a valid point as to why readership is declining, there are other avenues for entertainment in our expanding technological world. The future of VNs is not going to decline. They are made in Japan, for the Japanese people, who continue to be interested in the medium. However, reading is suffering in the west and there is a lot of research that asserts that fact.
  19. I just don't think that saying "this is going to get an official localization someday" is enough to deter fan translators from picking up a project that they are interested in. If its something that they enjoy doing, nobody has the right to say its a waste of effort.
  20. Don't know if I'm just an anomaly here, but I don't read VNs for their fapworthiness
  21. Yeah I'm having a similar problem with the Community Blog Its rather difficult to read anything with the blue text on black background Edit: Seems like only the Threads you should check out week #8 has blue text?
  22. http://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/comics/article/63848-light-novels-arrive-in-the-u-s-again.html http://arts.gov/sites/default/files/ToRead.pdf Studies have shown that youth spend far less time reading than previous generations. There are many reasons for the causes of this phenomenon. Let's focus on the effects, specifically the effects in relation to visual novels and the western community. Visual novels rely heavily on language, many of which have higher word counts than the average ink-on-paper novel. I feel that this discourages westerners who are already weary of reading. I began considering this after looking at the extreme limited niche market for light novels published in English. The writing style for many light novels appeals to the intended Japanese audience. "According to Japan’s Publishing Science Institute, light novels accounted for approximately 23.5% of the country’s general paperback sales in 2011" I included that statistic to demonstrate that reading is not an issue for eastern culture, thus visual novels are also seeing continuing success. My question for you is: How can we expect visual novels to become a well known medium in the west when less people in general find pleasure in reading?
  23. It's Angel Beats we're talking about here? Pretty sure nobody is going to run into that problem If you click the link you will see that yes they have extracted script files
