  1. If by chance you were looking to watch a shoujo romance I would suggest Itazura na Kiss And Tiago would likely attest to that
  2. @XReaper I just think that getting the voice actors for Angel Beats! would cost more than SP's budget at the moment. I know they will probably license it someday, but I still don't think its going to come soon. I really would prefer to avoid working on a game like Dracu-Riot, I would likely have to completely restart. The hallmark of a good fan transltaion is consistant and colorful language that engages the reader from beginning to end. I believe that can be achieved by only having a select few TLs, TLCs, and editors work on the project. Piece-meal projects just aren't appealing to me. And there are clearly two distinctly different opinions here -Get translators and then pick a project that everyone agrees on -Pick a project and then get translators who are interested in that project I am leaning toward the latter, I mean I'm considering starting a project for Angel Beats! That should say something about me, clearly an enigmatic person right here
  3. "My good sir, how dare you insinuate such things." "I shall abstain from fisticuffs... This time." Or something like that
  4. In reply to MG's message It seems they have forgotten the days of HinataBokko.
  5. You know, Anekouji Naoko to Gin'iro no Shinigami actually seems pretty appealing to me. Thanks for the suggestion And yeah Light would have to be lowest on my list of studios to consider
  6. I thought that Majikoi S had already been claimed?
  7. Isn't the power of feedback just spectacular? After reading the License suggestions over at Sekai I have seen a lot of people recommending Key titles, Angel Beats! included. Now I dont want to get into a long discussion about the downfall of fan translations, but wouldn't it be likely that any of the most popular titles will one day get licensed? I understand, there are a lot of good VNs out there waiting to be discovered. But taking a risk and translating a game that isn't already somewhat well known isnt something I am willing to do. I am looking to work a project where the title speaks for itself, its already known. Now I am not going to blindly work toward Angel Beats if it is going to be picked up by Sekai Project immediately, but I do still see the worth in fan translating it. On that note, well just have to see how it goes. Let's say I were to consider a different title. Which studios would the community be most interested in? MakuraSoft AkabeSoft2 Leaf Eushully Light etc??
  8. I fully agree, as I have experienced that problem first hand. And its even worse when the second team comes in because the first team refuses to release their work as in my experience with Supreme Candy
  9. All I can do is wait and see at this point. All I'm doing is planting the seeds of thought. And I have come to find that the a majority of popular titles, the "great untranslated VNs" as you say probably already have a team working on them.
  10. I'm home!

Fuwanovel must be alive and well if you are still coming around :P

  11. First thing first, if Sekai begins a kickstarter for Angel Beats! I will definitely find a different title to work on haha However, I have my doubts considering they are only releasing 3 routes at first. I may be wrong, but I feel like the major companies would want to wait until the entire game is released to begin working on it. I also feel that Key has several other big titles that could be picked up i.e. Little Busters (but that is my completely unfounded speculation) @Flutterz SiglusEngine and RealLive have some similarities. Now I am no hacker, but I received a program from Clephas a while back that can crack most RealLive and SiglusEngline games so I would assume that the two have the same basic functionality.
  12. Hello Tay~ The past two months have been a real eye opening time for me. So many things have happened both online and in the real world that I now know what my responsibilities are and what my hobbies are and where I'm willing to draw the line. I am glad that I was able to contribute in any way that I could with the board mod program. Wishing best of luck to the entire management team! Thank you for the offer sir. I will gladly take you up on that when the time comes. We are planning on builiding a website in the near future if everything goes well. After that I will likely begin recruiting right here on Fuwanovel. Its definitely going to take some time to reaquant myself with the website, considering how long I have been absent. And thank you to everyone else who has welcomed me back! Happy to see all the familar names
  13. Hello Fuwanovel, long time no see! As previously mentioned in my About My Absence thread, I have been leading a revamp project for Supreme Candy under a team called Skyspear Translations. Alas, the game does not have enough followers for translators to spend their time on it. However, I have some big plans. I have already preordered a copy of Angel Beats! for when the partial is released at the end of May and I am seeking to begin a new project for it so that the community will be able to enjoy the game in English as soon as possible. This will be a massive undertaking, considering RealLive is notoriusly difficult to work with. I am confident in my ability to, at the very least, crack the exe and allow a few hackers to get their hands on the game. I believe that putting this topic up for discussion so far in advance will allow us to receive feedback and assemble a team so that things can run as smoothly as possible when the time comes. So what do all of you think about this?
  14. As some of you know, I was a rather active member of this community up until the end of last year. I had become a board moderator as well as started a revamp project for Supreme Candy in hopes of making a contribution to the western VN world. I decided to leave Fuwanovel due to several things that just rubbed me the wrong way. The primary reason for my departure was the lack of structured organization between board mods and their assigned global mods. The teammates that I was working with were doing very little with their position, leaving the rest of the team to pick up the slack. Working in teams we were expectd to brainstorm together. When it came to getting work done, it was always on an individual basis. I am sure that many of these internal problems have been resolved. I mean just look at Fuwanovel now, a lot has been accomplished. However, I no longer have any interests in being at staff member. My place is among the members, and I have set my sights on translations over site management. As for the translation project for Supreme Candy... Habluka who lead the original team and I agree that Supreme Candy does not have the support from the community required to complete the project. Habluka, who is/was an avid fan of MakuraSoft did much of the work solo, achieving nearly 15,000 lines before putting the project aside. If any of you watched our Twitter feed, you would have seen that Skyspear Translations was continuing to make progress (albeit very slowly). We still have our image editor and one active TL but have decided to drop Supreme Candy in hopes of beginning a project for a more popular title (thread for this on the way). Regardless of the past, I am happy to be here again on Fuwanovel. I look forward to having chats and discussions with all of you once again!
  15. Silently votes, and then leaves
  16. Narcissu and Side 2nd were like two sides to the same coin for me, you couldn't have one without the other. I agree with your opinions on side 2nd, some of the themes just didn't give the same feelings as the original. Overall, you did an excellent job writing about these two games, makes me want to go replay them
  17. Welcome to Fuwa~
  18. Is it worth adding 4chan's /jp/ to this list? 4chan /jp/ A section of 4chan loosely dedicated to Japanese culture, which includes visual novels. There is a thread there regarding updates to translation projects.. http://boards.4chan.org/jp/
  19. Ill just move from the biggest names to smaller ones in this list Mangagamer A company that officially translates/licenses/distributes visual novels to be released to the English community http://www.mangagamer.com/ and here is a link to all the staff for Mangagamer JAST A company that officially translates/licenses/distributes visual novels to be released to the English community http://www.jastusa.com/ Sekai Project A company that officially translates/licenses/distributes visual novels to be released to the English community https://sekaiproject.com/ VNDB A site that catalogs all released visual novel titles, with descriptions ands a rating system https://vndb.org/ Lemma Soft A forum site dedicated to creating Original English Language Visual Novels http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/ Fuwanovel Gazette A blog dedicated to informing the western community about any visual novel related news http://visualnovelaer.fuwanovel.net/ Will find more, but its getting kind of late
  20. Unless I missed something, Ren already moved everything out of Community Archive... The main thing was that the Archive, Community Projects and Feedback, and Request a Change/Report Site Problems all have a bit of similarities, which I have already begun to iron out. Wanting to consolidate some of these 2 page boards, but I will wait until the workflow is changed before doing anything major
  21. Tomoyo After, just because I love Takafumi
  22. Everything is going in the right direction, but I'm seeing a bit of ambiguity between threads on Community Projects and Feedback and threads on its sub boards.
  23. Welcome to Fuwanovel~
  24. I have never had the problem where I couldn't find an ISO for any game on any platform. Even games only released in Japanese always have an ISO/rom
