I do buy them when I can, I even have many vns on mangagamer that I still haven't even played after many months of buying them, even after pirating I buy them like I did with yume miru kusuri (i beat the novel and then i bought it xD ) still I like to support small doujins on kickstarter and indiegogo I think that's more important and does really make an impact on the companies than lets say buy and support a vn on dlsite, but that's just my opinion. btw this is still not true "Without us buying vns, devs will have less motivation to produce higher quality vns."

the western market is not their target when they release a vns and we are still not their target either, if they sell well here lets say on steam good if they dont too bad, their public is the japanese market, if the company fails is because they didnt sell well there not here, we are just an extra income for them in fact many vns that you are playing are not for selling outside japan in fact almost all of them are forbidden to be played outside japan... you are playing a really really small portion of legally localized vn which again for those ones we are just extra income.

SO THIS IS ACTUALLY GOOD!? I have been debating with a lot of people on skype if this was a good story about misery or just mindless rape without any story what so ever. Oh well, im definitely gonna play it now then (im ready for the feels ;W;) I wrote an entire mini review and when i posted it the forum collapsed or something >_> I don't know if it's working bad for me or not but I'm not going to write all that again To make it short, yes it is actually good (at least it was for me and I don't like nukige vns ) bear in mind that this is not a happy story and it's not supposed to be one either and there are some really fucked up things on it (aside from the rape)

yes remaking it wont ruin the original but they do this because of the money not because they care about the game or anything and if you are going to spend money developing something at least do something original but sadly this is how the industry works.

just finished reading homeless girl student, that was...sad to say the least, the art style was really good and the way it was narrated almost like a poem, this is the first time I rate a vn with so many rape scenes with a high score but the story deserves it, however this is not a vn for everyone. I don't know who was the voice actress for this novel but she was superb.

there are some really good vns on steam, like planetarian, ame no marginal, higurashi (you will need to wait a lifetime too play all the chapters but it's uncensored )eden, yes it is "censored" but nothing really important and the content missing is crap, fault, world end, everlasting summer (free), hatoful, analogue, etc etc. Granted is not the best play to find vn because most of them are censored or butchered but there still are some good vn untouched.

what translator are you using? because some of them don't work for example microsoft and SDL don't work so you will have to choose another from that list available.

I almost forgot that the seasons are reversed there, here is spring and the summer is really near but there is autumn and the winter is coming, so no cicadas for you anymore

why....why can't just leave the old good classics as they are, you wont and you can't make system shock 1 or 2 better than already is, why not innovate and create a new ip? oh yeah i forgot.... how else would you milk a franchise that has a fanbase already established and guarantee of copy sales

Actually cicadas are associated with a quite a few different things in Japan depending on the kind. For example Higurashi is associated with sadness, melancholy and loneliness (which is why Higurashi no Naku Koro ni isn't named after some other kind of cicada), probably because they can be heard in the evening. I did research it and from what I've seen like you said depending on the cicada they associate them with different things or depending on the singing of them they can tell what time is it too but there isn't a deep meaning behind them historically speaking in china however there is, gods, mythology, it is a symbol of many things too. now that you are aware of them you will never ever forget they are there muahaha xD

visual novels are not cheap, specially if you buy them from japanese websites and from steam you will mostly get censored vns, some of them butchered like if my heart had wings others just the eroge, there are good vn on steam though like end world, ame no marginal, planetarian, fault, etc and clannad is going to be released very soon I almost forgot you can play narcissu for free but is not really heart warming is more like a heart destroying

not really, I like some korean songs and I don't even know how to say hello in korean, I love rammsteins and I don't understand what they are saying but I still sing the songs xD Also if you are going to learn Japanese to understand lyrics bear in mind that is a really difficult thing (depending on the lyric) most of the time lyrics don't make sense or are phrased in weird ways that you wouldn't normally encounter, I still have hard times understanding some lyrics. For example the other day I wanted to translate this song and at one point I gave up, just as the english parts don't make much sense the japanese parts don't either.

none of those vns are free, the only free game that is heart warming is brass restoration which is not on that list

yeah with a proxy it will be almost impossible to use any kind of mediaplayer, you can try using tor or a vps but tor should work fine

seems they blocked U.S. range ip, I can enter from Argentina without problem but if I use a proxy from usa I get this "Xiami is currently not available in your country."

never heard of this bug or something similar happening in this or any other vn, doesn't seem to be related to the vn but to your hardware
