  1. I've been listening to this opening a lot these past 2 days. Thanks for sharing this version. Last I remember LinovaA you were reading Subahibi. How is it (in terms of quality and difficulty in Japanese)?
  2. Looks like I'm kinda dead (in the digital sense). RL life is keeping me busy and I'm on a hiatus from reading VNs at the moment.

  3. I originally read Narcissu when I was in a depressed state of mind, and it actually really helped. Narcissu taught me to view things in a proper perspective. It showed me that there are far bigger concerns in life then the petty stuff I was getting depressed by. It got me to really think about the significance of life and death in ways I never really thought of before. In fact, I hope you don't mind if I self promote a bit. But I have an article digitally published in which I analyze and do a close reading of Narcissu. You can read it here.
  4. It's been 6 months for me. (Technically a year, but I spent my first 6 months grinding kanji via Heisig, I don't recommend this, lol). I am convinced that learning grammar and exposing yourself to the written language is great practice (and you can learn a lot from it). But I am not convinced you can actually reach fluency using this method. By just reading, you can attain literacy, but your speaking, listening, and writing skills will be far poorer. Recently I started formal Japanese classes, and while my prior experience of self study mixed with reading VNs has given me a huge advantage in reading and comprehension, my speaking and listening skills really are poor in comparison. I'm not denigrating this method. It's great for attaining literacy. And certainly fantastic practice for those already in Japanese classes. But those who are considering using this method (especially for independent study) should know that attaining literacy is different from attaining fluency.
  5. I remember that one time when Aaeru posted a new introduction topic, and it turned out the username was "Aaaeru". Then the topic got deleted.
  6. I haven't been on the site much either. But my reasons are far less exciting than yours. In all seriousness, I wish you the best.
  7. As others have been mentioning. Don't force yourself to do this if you yourself don't really want to. I honestly don't know how you can force yourself to read stuff that you find boring. I respect you all the more you putting yourself in those shoes; but I wouldn't respect you any less if you decide you just want to read the stuff you want to read (and just review that stuff if you want to).
  8. Doing that is truly doing things Otaku style.
  9. I've only been getting involved in untranslated relatively recently, and with the exception of the VN I am currently reading I haven't needed to scout for H-codes much. But this site seems to have a lot of them: Link. It at least satisfied my need.
  10. Thanks for the replies guys!
  11. You liked Heart of Darkness!? That's great! Most people I run into tend to not to like it due to its associated difficulty. It's been a while since I read it though, but I do remember finding it interesting.
  12. I'm looking for some more VNs (particularly not too difficult untld VNs, although moderate difficulty is just fine) that satisfy this condition. I want a story that essentially gets right to the point from the start. It doesn't waste my time with an overly lengthy common route or something similar. To list a few examples, VNs like Swan Song, Saya no Uta, Sayonara wo oshiete and Narcissu all come to mind as VNs that qualify. I think by nature of this request; most VNs that qualify will probably be shorter. Since I don't want stories that either drag on for no real purpose, or have a really slow start. Also, I understand that Clephas made this thread for those relatively new to the Untld realm, and if somebody could point out which VNs on that list fulfill this condition, I would certainly appreciate it.
  13. This blog post goes really indepthly in things that were only touched in a Japanese theater class I once took. Thanks Clephas!
  14. Happy Birthday Krill! I hope with aging you somehow get healthier. Here's a yandere: I love that look of complete devastation.
  15. I think that Lemmasoft is important enough to warrant mention. It's certainly not the most important site, but they are probably the biggest community of OELVN developers. Infact, the first VN I ever read was Memo which I got from lemmasoft.
  16. Currently on vacation. So I probably won't post anything for the next 2 weeks or so.

  17. Nervously confess my feelings for Nisekoi's best girl, and then wait through 2 seasons of filler only to end up with another girl.
  18. It just started out of nowhere and ended 5 minutes later, it's back to being perfectly sunny now
  19. I made the top 7 and I mostly just guessed 3 for every question for the last 2 rounds.
  20. I have no idea. But it's a bit weird scrolling up and seeing a post I made over a year ago.
  21. You win an internet. Feel free to spend it however you like.
  22. I tend to use the two interchangeably, but usually if I say "play" I actually mean read. So I guess read is my answer.
  23. The 4th one looks like he is blushing at how big of a boner he has. So my vote is on her I mean him.
  24. Nah, they love using long German names as well:
