Because whenever people do that, even though I know not to expect my name to come up, I still get a bit sad when I don't see it. I should probably be more productive... or become a spammer.

First you download the patch, and then you have to run the patch (it's an executable program usually). Then you might have to select the directory of where your Visual Novel is, and then voila! It should be patched. Also, you will need to set your Computer's locale set to Japanese. You can easily do that with this guide. In fact, just watch this video: it shows you how to change your locale, how to install a Japanese VN, and how to apply a translation patch. The video basically covers all the essentials on how to play fan translated Visual Novels.

Fuck Yeah! I'm no longer tied with Nosebleed. My only goal in this game since I joined was simply to beat Nosebleed. Assuming he forgets again, I don't even need to submit answers at this point. A lot of the reason for this is that I want the lies to be fair. I want them to be things you can figure out if you either 1) know a little about me, or 2) did your research. That said, if I remember correctly, I raised the difficulty for my last list of truths tremendously. (In other words I took some cheap shots that only somebody who knows my family history would know for sure).

Swan Song is post apocalyptic, translated, and one of the best Visual Novels I have read thus far. Without a doubt I recommend it. You need to download the VN (unfortunately I am not allowed to link you to a download), and apply a translation patch which you can get here. (This site that hosts the download for the translation patch may also host the download for the VN itself ) Regarding zombie post apocalyptic VNs, there honestly aren't that many. The Japanese don't seem to be obsessed with zombies in the same way western pop-culture is.

Considering that Hoshimemo is predicted to take 30 - 50 hours long if you're fluent in the language you're reading it in (according to the vndb page). It doesn't really surprise me that people take 2 - 3 times longer than they normally would to finish a VN of that length in a foreign language. My understanding, (and certainly this is true of me as well) is that a decent amount of people reading Untld VNs are in the process of learning Japanese. Meaning that they don't know the language that well yet. And until they have read a good amount of VNs (someone once told me around 6-, they will be mostly relying on dictionaries and their grammatical knowledge to comprehend the story. And early on in that process you will probably be referencing your grammar guide a lot too. Unless if you are just reading the translated words off of Translation Aggregator, and not using the program as a tool to learn Japanese; than it will probably take a relative beginner a while to read a long VN in Japanese.

Lol, as predicted I got nearly all of them wrong. I knew I would have been better off just guessing 3 for all of them. Also, I'm a bit surprised most people caught my lie. Seeing as how both Fire Emblem Mystery of the Emblem and Genealogy of the Holy War (the game where my avatar is actually from) are both obscure SNES games from the same franchise. I though people would assume it was true.

Facade was... weird and eccentric. I'm surprised people even remember him though. As for Okami, I don't really know why he attracted so much negative attention. I wasn't very active back when he was the most vocal. I just remember one time I responded to something he said in a thread in a polite manner; and then he derailed the whole topic into a flame war about 2D being better than real life and real people.

I didn't know such a thing even existed. So yes, you are right. Glad I missed it then, lol.

Confession: Nearly every time I visit this thread I am directed to an outdated page, because I only check up on it once a week or so. This time I ended up on page 245. I was outdated by 16 fucking pages of content. Easily the most spammed thread on Fuwa, I think. Confession 2: I don't read most of the missed content. Instead I just skip to the most recent page and maybe read the page before that one.

It was a bit tedious that I can't hook the text the normal way and actually had to search for an H-code. But now that I found it I am prepared. Although, as much as I look forward to it; I want to finish 1 or 2 simpler untld VNs before tackling this one. I don't about you Kiriririri, but I like dark and depressing stories.

One of my favorites of the Swan Song Ost. Really captures the intensity of the VN and the situation the characters are in. There is something magical about this song. It's so calming, to the point where stopping it is almost scary. Got to listen to all of it, got to keep up the routine.... routine is important... That was really really good, thanks for sharing that. Judging from the pics on the VNDB page, the VN looks like it's beyond my current level of Japanese, but I think I will give it a try regardless. Looks really interesting.

This is pretty much my feeling as well. Runescape is (or at least was) a good game. In fact, too good of a game. I was so addicted to it, that for the 2 years I played it was virtually the only thing I though about. The reason I don't want to ever play it again (and I suspect the reason others don't want to play it again either) is because they experienced similar addiction to the game. Thanks for this. After speaking a bit with one of the people I will be dorming with, he seems like a cool guy and I'm far less anxious then I was before. The other guy (the third person) probably doesn't check his Email often as neither me or the guy I've been speaking to manged to contact him. But I'm actually looking forward to the situation now.

As far as I can tell, LiquidShu didn't tell a single lie. He seems to prefer girl bands, loves K-pop, and enjoys rhythm games. I have no idea which one he is lying about :S My reasoning for why he isn't lying about this: According to the How Global is Fuwa thread Kosaki said he is from the Philippines. My best friend is Filipino and is the most hardcore Magic player ever. Therefore all Filipinos are into Magic.

Even though we don't really frequent the same threads much, I recognize your username partly because I know you as "that guy who never changed his avatar",() and also because you post helpful stuff.

Anime and VNs. While I don't listen to music much on it's own. Music and audio is really important to me when I want to experience a story. I don't really read much manga (I honestly don't find the medium that immersive), and books are only interesting to me on an intellectual level. I really wish I could enjoy manga and books more, since it's weird being an Otaku who doesn't read much manga. For me VNs and anime accomplish a feeling of not existing and only focusing on the story. It's kind of weird, but it's almost spiritual in some way. When I'm reading a good VN or watching a good anime, it's like I no longer exist and am one with the story. I just don't get that same feeling with manga and books.

One thing I remember finding a bit annoying when I first started out (which was a year ago), is that there as so many slightly different ways to learn. And different people learn more efficiently doing slightly different things. Lol, I remember one person I spoke to on this site told me that with only rudimentary understanding of the language he read a lot of Untld Nukiges for an entire year, and eventually found himself able to read more complicated VNs. I found that to be an interesting (not to mention extreme) answer. I can impart you with some advice from my personal experience. But please keep in mind that my level is around advanced beginner and intermediate learner. As everyone has been pointing out, basic grammar is a must. I highly recommend Tae Kim and reading through Basic Grammar, Essential Grammar, and Special Expressions (you can save Advanced Topics for later). Personally I read each section a first time somewhat quickly to acquaint myself with the material, then I would reread that section thoroughly and take notes. Once I finished the section a second time, I would review the key points (usually various conjugations), and then finally move onto the next section. Once you feel you have comfortable knowledge of necessary Japanese grammar, then I recommend to start reading (preferably something simple). By reading (with the help of ITH and Translation Aggregator) you will not only gain vocabulary through repeated words, but more importantly at this stage; you will be training your brain to understand Japanese grammar in it's native habitat. Before with Tae Kim you learned grammar on a theoretical level, now your knowledge is put in practice. Once I felt reasonably comfortable with Japanese grammar in practice I started placing more importance on vocabulary acquisition. At first I used the old fashioned approach with flashcards. I wrote down the words that were either frequently used, or that my dictionary told me were N5, N4, or N3 level vocabulary. However, flashcards got really annoying. Not to mention reviewing words that are stripped from the context felt pointless to me. Eventually I ditched them and started putting my vocabulary words on post-it notes and attaching them to my wall. That way, when I read something, and a word seems familiar; I'll check my wall first before checking the dictionary. Admittedly a bit of a weird method, but for me at least it has been way more effective than using flashcards (either digital ones like Anki, or physical ones). So yeah. I definitely recommend getting advice from people who have already achieved full literacy in the language. But I hope I provided useful advice for the earlier stages of learning. Also, regarding how long it will take to reach literary fluency. That answer honestly varies from person to person, but the method I've modeled my learning style from (Aaeru's method) is scheduled to take around 2 years.

I would complain that I've been an involuntary casualty for a game I'm not participating in, but I don't think my avatar looks half bad black and white. (Although I still can't wait for it to get color again).

Kind of funny how I completely agree that Grisaia is nothing great but disagree with you on Rewrite. Rewrite suffered from a similar problem of having an insanely long common route (that bored me to tears). Admittedly, I dropped Rewrite and never finished it (same with Grisaia), but my rule is that if something can't captivate me within the first 5 - 10 hours; I'm better off moving on to something else.
