    Fabulous on Fuwa - February!

    By Kaguya

Introduction   Welcome, fellow Fuwamembers, to the FuwaRecognition thread. Starting this March, we’ll be highlighting some of the best contributions made by our members each month. From snazzy blog articles to delicious forum threads, and perhaps even a few things more on the shitpost part of the spectrum, we'll keep an eye out for the cream of the crop. And then we'll gather them here. Just for you.   *holds up giant APPLAUSE sign*   A-hem, so this is the f

Bishoujo Mangekyou TL Update 36: Smooth Sailin' and 75% edited

Well, this update is basically a one-to-one cardboard copy of the previous update. +9% on editing, +9% on QC, and +6% on proofreading. Everything’s coming along just nice, with a steady stream of progress, and the game’s now over 75% edited! It’s a huge milestone for us, and it shouldn’t be too long until the fully-fledged patch lands. Nothing much to say here. Every smug face I see nowadays strikingly reminds me of Kirie, and it’s 100% because of this project. Enjoy some mahou sh

Random VNs: Gleam Garden no Shoujo

Gleam Garden is a semi-chuuni VN by the makers of Lovesick Puppies, Cosmic Cute.  While it isn't amongst the VNs I love the most, it was nonetheless a pleasant memory, so I chose to dig it out of the pile and play it again this week.  Edit: I should mention that while this VN does have action scenes, a lot of the VN is about the changes in the characters, especially the heroines, as they learn to accept their sins, their past, and the restrictions placed on their future by their situation.

How I feel about games that come in parts

When Corona Blossom came out recently, I once again came face to face with a niche trend in gaming that has roots back in the nineties era console games... video games that, rather than presenting a full story in and of themselves (even if they are intended to have sequels), instead are released in parts.  Now, I thought about why this kind of game production method has never really caught on... and it took me all of ten seconds to remember why. Let's take the Shenmue series.  Really a

Random VNs: Nanairo Reincarnation

Below is the original mini-review I wrote of Nanairo Reincarnation in 2014, which I mostly pulled out because it is much harder to access than this blog because of how buried that thread is.  Also, I was feeling too lazy to completely rehash everything I said back then.     Nanairo Reincarnation   Kamige kita!!!  lol   I've been waiting all this  year for a kamige to appear, and thankfully, I wasn't disappointed.  Every once in a while I co

Random VN plans

Now... as I said in the nostalgia post, I've been replaying a lot of games lately.  The reason is fairly simple... my backlog of VNs is almost nonexistent now.  I've played roughly 85% of the ones I purchased during the first days, including all but a few of those that I've purchased in the last few years.  That isn't to say that there are no VNs of interest that I haven't played yet... but many of them just aren't available to purchase by download and are too expensive to obtain a physical copy

Psychopath Review

Visual Novel Translation Status (09/17/2016) Okay, first of all welcome to my VNTS Review for first week and sorry for the simple title there (And frightening as well). While for this week maybe too simple once again, because we had Psyco Pass VN as image header might as well just using the alias for this anime that I'd find at MAL. As for planning PC release, it might be good for anyone else who didn't own the console. But then again maybe PC version will suffer bad porting there if w

Bishoujo Mangekyou TL Update 35: Slow and Steady

There’s nothing really to specifically write down about. Editing seems to have kept the steady progress of 8-10% a week and QC’s following close behind. Proofreading’s going well enough, but it’s not going to gain any surprising spurts of progress, just steadily moving along. As for me, I’ve been out of it all week long, but I have progressed with the secret project, so there should be a nice amount of progress when the reveal comes along. Anyhoo, progress time:

Why the Nostalgia?

If some of you failed to notice, I've been going back over my list of ancient favorites amongst the moege/charage/slice-of-life genres.  Why am I doing this?  I actually have some good reasons, other than whims. First, I keep recommending these things to people, but when you start talking about a VN you last played five years ago, people tend to let it in one ear and out the other.  I mean, my long-term memory for games and books is pretty good, but my brain is fairly compartmentalized, so

Gin'iro Haruka general thoughts.

Bethly After many...many...many hours of reading I finally finished one route which I think is enough since one route in this VN feels like finishing a long VN on itself, also picking a different girl feels incorrect at this point, like I'm cheating someone... (forgive me Bethly )  Giniro is a pure love story, slice of life with some very mild drama(almost non existent), most of it consist on developing the bonds between the main character and his group of friends(only females)  and

Random VNs: Tayutama Kiss on My Deity (edit: and the FD)

First, let me say that this was the very first non-violent VN I played after jumping into Japanese-language (untranslated) VNs.  I should also say that it was the one that taught me that even a VN of this type (what I later came to call a charage) could have a truly solid story.  This VN is the reason I'm frequently willing to give charage the benefit of the doubt, and it is also the reason why I became somewhat obsessed with ojousama heroines.  Mifuyu is still one of the better ojousama heroine

When a monster touched you the player would lose one of his gems. The player also had a whip attack they could use a limited number of

Booby Quest Review

Visual Novel Translation Status (09/10/2016) For the title here while not very creative, the meaning should be very obvious here (Combining booby because we had many big boobs woman here and quest was from Dragon Quest in regard of the setting which remind us of old RPG here). While the image header VN (Kyonyuu or Funbag Fantasy) was not my taste here, at least I knew that our Bookwormotaku here like this very much. Oh, and if Decay here like the localized title here, he should be thanking

Bishoujo Mangekyou TL Update 34: Things Speeding Up

Update time. I’m feeling pretty good from that QC progress, with some very solid editing and proofreading progress. There was a 15% leap in progress for the QC, and I really can’t give enough credit for my QCs for that. 8% in editing hopefully will more or less be a norm from now on, now that we have almost all of our shit sorted through. Proofreading has had some nice progress, which hopefully will continue from this point onwards. Look forward to it all. On our other half of the week

NikuNiku review: lazy edition

so, since im the lazy sidekick for the TL, it was only fitting that I finished this fucking amazing gory mess of a vn after everybody else was done lol. So here is my review, in super lazy edition +superb endings +/- great BGM, short loops (around a minute each) (favorite bgm track: https://clyp.it/epwzo4pz ) + the voice acting is amazing - the main antagonist wasnt voiced + great suspense all around +well constructed scenario with great characters +ruby-sama &

A warning for September's releases (Tayutama 2)

In this month's releases comes a sequel I've been looking forward to for two years (since it was quietly first leaked), Tayutama 2. Tayutama 2 is based fifty years after the end of Tayutama (the original).  To be specific, it is based on the Mashiro ending from that one (straight out the best immortal heroine ending I've seen in any charage).  However, because it is based off of that ending, it spoils the main story completely, making it a necessity for you to have at least played Mashiro's

Ichibun no Ni Koigokoro and VN of the Month, August 2016

Ugh... can you say kusoge out loud twenty times fast?  I'm sorry, but it has been a while since I played a VN that was this awful outright.  It had all the elements, setting-wise, that a good story VN should have... a protagonist who gave up high school to work to support his sisters, twin sister heroines (yay for incest), a generally capable protagonist, a hikikomori neighbor heroine, and a lot of hints of potential story points that could have been used to enhance the paths. Unfortunately

Inochi no Spare

*weeps hopelessly, his face a mess with tears and other fluids* Inochi no Spare is an utsuge, produced by Akabeisoft3, the conglomerate company made from all of Akabeisoft2's subsidiaries except Akatsuki Works.  I'll be blunt, I didn't know what to think going into this.  It was blatantly an utsuge, right from the beginning... and one that is merciless in its descriptions of the characters' suffering. The disease in question is called Oumon Disease (fictional), which manifests initiall

VN of the Month: Just letting yall know

September's VN of the Month is probably going to be a contest between Baldr Heart, Inochi no Spare, and Gin'iro, Haruka.  Why?  Everything else I dropped shortly after exiting the prologue, wanting to puke from the kusoge-smell.  It might not be fair to them, but Ichibun, Yuuwaku, and Triangle Love just aren't VNs that have any chance, with Gin'iro defining the field for slice-of-life and romance.  I can't bring myself to play anymore Gin'iro, but that isn't because it sucks... it is because I'm

Gin'iro, Haruka Part 2: Yuzuki

I'm going to be blunt... I can only take Tone Works games in small doses (one path at a time), so I'll be setting Gin'iro Haruka aside now, though I am interested in two of the remaining three heroines (despite Hinata's horrible VA).  Yuzuki's path actually starts out fairly similar to how you would imagine the classic 'imouto' path would if it was done by Tone Works... the slow growth into full sibling-hood, the slipping into habits that go a bit too far for teenaged siblings, then the rea
