  1. There's some words from PyroCyan which reveal that turned out the TLC by the translator is still not officially done yet, and I'll quote his words below. So yes there's still some cleanup left from the translator before finally the translator can send the script files for the last two chapters (Licia and Eustia) to the QCers to do the QC work. Personally I prefer to just release the patch as it is so that we can finally read Eustia after all long waiting, but considering the massive backlash that Daybreak got because of the typo in Mizuha's route, perhaps it would be better doing QC first before the release just in case, and moreso if we know that no matter what the translator did there's no choice that can satisfy all of the people. Also even if the translator doing it right, there's a chance that some bored people nitpick few lines because to that people said lines are related to politic or whatever. My ramble aside, in the end PyroCyan still estimated that the earliest release is on June later, doubly so because it's indeed that all of three first chapters are already done with the QC. So once again let's see if we can see June release for the full translation patch here.
  2. Arjuna - It's magical girl with less cute outfit and that it has environmental message, and that it's broadcasted in Animax (I didn't watch it though). Motto Doremi - Toei decided to mix up baking theme into Doremi, and in 2017 later Toei would tried to do so with KKPC resulted in some mixed feelings among the fans (The main cause is because Toei did try to remove the hand-to-hand fighting that Precure are famous for in KKPC though). Anyway no much to say other than it has the new main character Momoko who is from the overseas. Tales of Eternia - The PS1 game is known as Tales of Destiny 2 because Namco was decided to play safe seeing that there's a brand called Eternia that was owned by Mattel, caused some confusion because there's no older playable characters from Tales of Destiny and more importantly Namco released the real sequel for Tales of Destiny in Japan only. From what I can see, the anime decided to write the original plot, which contrast to what we have in the later Tales of the Abyss anime in that it's relatively faithful to the game plot. That's all for what I can write in regard of Winter 2001 anime here.
  3. Blood the Last Vampire - I only know that it's been promoted in Animax and that it has spiritual successor Blood+ (Which also promoted in Animax), and both MCs are the female named Saya that need to deal with vampire like creature in one way or another. Ghost at School - For the info it also broadcasted in Indonesia, and it's the one that I watch regularly among the other short length anime that were broadcasted back then (Yes back then I thought that 20 episodes are quite short because back then the anime series had more or less 50 episodes). Anyway the five children here is more or less like five main students in Nube, although with the gender changed. It help that both has evil supernatural creature that ended up helped the party, which in this case is possessed the black cat. One last thing to mention is that Satsuki's late mother had a lot of experiences exorcising the ghosts, in which she manage to help her daughter from the beyond thanks to her diary that contain the way to exorcise ghost of the week. Hajime no Ippo - The very lengthy manga (That even beat Conan at that) that tell us the story about on how Ippo going to become the best boxer, and until now it's still not finished yet. Inuyasha - This is the first anime series, and said series had a lot of filler (Not as bad as Naruto Shippuden though) which obviously set so that the author can catch up with her manga, although turned out that it's still not enough because the anime is ended before the author finished her story. Anyway if you describe it as Dragonball with female MC (Kagome) and jokes from Urusei Yatsura, you're not wrong because both of that and Inuyasha are written by Takahashi Rumiko (So you can expect on a lot of bickering between Kagome and the titular character). Oh yes it also should be mentioned that this is another isekai anime, although obviously Kagome didn't have cheat power so she need to rely on Inuyasha to get through the danger. That's all for what I can write in regard of Autumn 2000 anime.
  4. I did play Flyable Heart and think the story is quite good, although nowadays there's many VNs that have good graphic and story have been translated. It still has good soundtrack and the opening song though, so perhaps some may be interested to play this later. For the rest of the choice, Kiminago is elaborate more on Mayuri's story (That the staff didn't bother to elaborate more than necessary in Flyable Heart), Nanatsuiro Drop seems to be like magical girl VN, and Hare Tokidoki has the heroine who become Aaeru's avatar, and from what I can see Flyable Heart here is still the most interesting one between the choices. In the end, well just do what you want to do I suppose, and good luck on whatever you'll do later.
  5. As for QC, I should quote what PyroCyan did say on several post ago below in regard of it. From what I conclude, it seems that the QC are already done up to Irene's chapter (ie Chapter 3), so all that left is to do the QC for both of Licia's and Eustia's chapters. That said, it's the situation from back in October, so perhaps there'll be some changes in regard of QCers situation, although hopefully the QCers can still work on the last two chapters. If anything else, it's almost time to see Eustia full translation patch here, and once again hopefully it'll be available by June.
  6. Obligatory congratulation video from, well you know where it is. Good luck on the QC progress, and hopefully we may have the full translation patch on June later if all goes well.
  7. Late to reply here. As for Yuzusoft VN, I can certainly say that it's far lighter than Snow. Although you're certainly right that Yuzusoft VNs did carry over some supernatural element from Snow, and it certainly help that one of Snow composer, Famishin, would be in turn direct several Yuzusoft VNs, with the notable two are Senren Banka and Cafe Stella (Both have shrine maiden heroines), so he may bring over some elements from Snow into modern Yuzusoft VNs. Speaking of irony, actually not only Studio Mebius that develop dark VN in the past. There's also Jun Maeda (Yes Jun Maeda who would known as KEY prominent figure) did work on Moon, and one of the sexual contents included scat of all contents (And rape as well). Oh yes, Liar-soft as well, which I get the info from Discord and naturally I denied it, only turned out to be true that they have several rape VNs (Well they still have some element of it in their newer VN, although most of the time it's not that bad). The most contrast however we have Saga Planet of all companies did produce the game with dark contents in the past, and yes their past VNs had a lot of rape which obviously contrast with their current library. All in all, it's interesting to take a notice on how several companies VNs in the past are very different with what we got used to the current companies.
  8. I can only comment on the Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2, in that it's the epilogue of the anime series and the last anime for Cardcaptor Sakura itself, until 2018 in that CLAMP made the Clear Card arc. As for the movie, it did what the movie set up, bring a closure to a certain event from the last episode of TV series. Obviously it also bring a new menace, and said menace is the Nothing card in which my sister asked on why there's a card of it with that effect, with I just nonchalantly answer with 'Just ask Clow (The creator of the magic card in the series)'. Other than Sakura second movie and that Strange Dawn opening song sounds good, no much what I can say in regard of Summer 2000 anime so that's all for my comment on this season.
  9. Because we have Tsui no Stella English version announced on this week along with Lupercalia update in the last week, I'd make the parody of Tsui no Stella opening (Breath of Stella) by changing 'Breath' into 'Limelight' (From Lupercalia opening 'Limelight no Zanka'), so we have 'Limelight of Stella' as this week VNTS Review title, which obviously it's not my review on the watch with the name Limelight Stella lol. Anyway welcome to this week VNTS Review, and as for this week compared to the last week we have some interesting news with one of those is Tsui no Stella English version announcement, and also the nukige release from Cherry Kiss. Overall, this week is a slightly above average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Cherry Kiss released Kinky Cosplay: Gyarus Gone Wild. From what I see it seems that Miel get the inspiration from My Dress-Up Darling, and they decided to add their mix into it, which obviously including the sex scenes in sexy costumes. Yeah it's nukige all right, and feel free to get the VN if you're interested with it. We also have Kagura Games announced their first VN license (Spiral Dystopia). For Spiral Dystopia, it's written by former Rance series writer TORI, and from what I can see it's sort of chuunige with some rape element. At least the art is nice, and that it's popular enough to get the H OVA. It'll be released within this year, although as for the exact date we still don't know yet. Oh yes, almost forgot to mention that Aksys Games announced that they'll release Jack Jeanne in June later, so you can note the date if you've been looking forward to it. For fan translation updates, we have Chronos is at 90% edited, Senmomo is at 84.6% edited with side stories is at 46.13% edited, 85 out of 138 script files for Umi Kara kuru Mono are translated, ChuSingura is at 18.26% translated, and H2O is at 86.4% translated with Maki's route is at 68.7% translated. This week we have Visual Arts announced their localization plan for this year in their blogpost, with them having planned to have three releases in 2023 (Loopers PC version, Lunaria, and the aforementioned Tsui no Stella) along with one release in 2024 (Summer Pockets Reflection Blue). We already have Alka released the full translation patch for Reflection Blue, so obviously it'll be the redundant release, doubly so with they'll release it sometimes in 2024 later. For Loopers PC release, well it's about time I guess. For Lunaria, we have the MC Tabito who is a top gamer in virtual reality game as T-BIT stumbled upon a girl AI Avatar in Moon server who then introduce herself as LUNAR-Q,. Compared to Lunaria, Tsui no Stella here is more grim (Thanks to Tanaka Romeo writing) with the premise is the MC Jude live in a post apocalyptic Earth accept a request to guard the android, Philia, in her journey. It should be noted that both VNs are better received compared to Loopers, so those VNs should be nice even though both are just short length kinetic VNs (Which may be good for some people who prefer non-lengthy VNs). That's all for what I can write in regard of this week, and see you next week.
  10. We already met beforehand, but it certainly didn't hurt to say welcome here. Anyway I also happen to know about Tokimeki Memorial, although it's only because I briefly browse about it in one of the online article as an influential VN or something like that. Like you I'm also already involved with VN for more than 10 years here, and in this case my encounter to it is through Shuffle if we talk about non-nukige VN. Speaking of Nana Mizuki, compared to her couple Yukari Tamura (In Nanoha of course) she didn't appear much in VN, although Nana Mizuki did voicing a character in Hourglass of Summer (Make sure you get the Japanese PS2 version because Hirameki decided to release it in DVD player format that has a lot of issues). By the way if you want KOGADO VN, there'll be Tristia remake in which it'll be released on 19th later, and apparently it'll have GL romance (Just like Nurse Love duology and Yumeutsutsu, although I don't know yet on how GL story in Tristia will turned out). Lastly, I hope that you'll have fun in here.
  11. Welcome to Fuwanovel, and that's quite anintroduction there. Regardless, I think it's fine if you didn't have clear memories on how you come into knowing VN, because in the end all that matter is that you're enjoying it. As for verb for VN consumption, well plread is the one that commonly used as far as I can understand, although perhaps you have a point that we should find the better verb for it. Lastly, feel free to ask for more recommendation if you need it, and I hope that you'll have fun in here.
  12. Seeing that I'm very late here, you may already find some VN that you want to read. Still, it not hurt to recommend some more short VNs, so let recommend some more short VNs such as Dra Koi, True Remembrance, Quartett, Hanachirasu, and Kikokugai. I don't know if you already played or get recommended those, but in case you still don't get both yet then I hope my recommendations here will be helpful to you.
  13. Quite a number of series that I recognize here, so let's try to comment on those. Saiyuki - Well the priest did become more action oriented compared to the one that I watched in Hong Kong TV series, and that I watch the ad for it on Animax. After that I only remember I did check one of the episode and then dropped it altogether. Kiramekiman - It's like Persona 5, except with the Phantom Thief are the less interesting Yatterman duo and the detective against them are the iconic Doronjo trio. I did watch it because it was broadcasted in Indonesia (Not through Animax), and apparently it'll have sequel when the detective become evil, although until now I still didn't watch it yet (Nor I have the interest to check on it). Yu-Gi-Oh - Unlike 1998 series, this series is really put the focus on the card game very much, although it's still not as much as the latter series seeing that the late author still add some non card game in his manga that the series also adapted (It help that one of the said game is the part of the final arc). Anyway you can clearly see on how influential the game is, especially with the meta game that keep evolving (Although in this series the card effects are not as complicated as we have nowadays). UFO Baby - I prefer the English name of it, and it's also broadcasted with that title in Indonesia. As you can see the premise is simple enough with the alien baby come into the Earth, and the only one who can take care of it are the junior high school couple who keep bickering. I did watch it on each Saturday morning, and honestly other than the premise I'm not exactly remember what happened in each of the episodes, but at least I still remember the Indonesian dub version of the ending song (Only the melody, and obviously not with the lyric). Sakura Wars - It's obviously the adaptation of the game, and at least the staffs adapted the anime closer to the original material, unlike Galaxy Angel in that it turned to become the gag series. While the game is quite famous in Japan, we only got the 5th games and the remake available in English, with both games are have long wait between the release. At least there's fan translation project for the series, with the first game is already translated and currently the translator working on the second game. Love Hina - It has GBA game that was fan translated. Other than that, it's about the male MC Keitarou who encounter Naru in the female dormitory with her turned out to be a very harsh tsundere who like to punch Keitarou in case she caught him watch her naked (Which to say quite a lot). By the way while the premise looks like harem anime, actually it's more like Keitarou already has someone in mind, so he didn't like show his affection to any other women, although of course it didn't stop the anime writers to make the girls personalities based on Love Hina, with the most notable one is Naru which inspire several tsundere heroines. That's all for what I can write in regard of Spring 2000 anime.
  14. The interesting thing to note is that one of the writer is Suzumoto Yuuichi who joined Visual Arts because he was inspired by Kanon, and then he wrote Summer part on AIR. So it's very understandable if people say that Snow is very similar with Kanon and AIR, especially with one of the writer (Even with him only credited as Assistant writer) did work on KEY games, and even the producers did acknowledge the similarities. It's also interesting to note that the company behind Snow would eventually become Yuzusoft, which obviously are very different from what we've seen in Snow (They still have some supernatural involved in some of their VNs though).
  15. Welcome to my first VNTS Review in 2023. Since we have Brothers Conflict release, I'd make a parody of the Autumn 2001 anime Angel Tales, which is somehow fitting seeing that both have 13 characters of the same gender with the MC is from the different gender (Although Brothers Conflict heroes are not the animal in their past life though), so we have 'Brother Tales' for the title. For the first week of 2023, the only release that we have is Brothers Conflict, although obviously it's not that I'd paid attention to. That said, the updates that we have here are far more interesting compared to the single release. Oh yes Shiravune also about to release their first 2023 title, although it's not what I look forward from them here so I suppose they want to go through their smaller title first. All in all, this week is more or less another average one, and let's see what I can write in regard of it. Even though we have Brothers Conflict release, it's not been released by Aksys Games but instead it was fan translated. For the premise, we have our female MC Ema who had her remarry a man who turned out has 13 handsome sons, and when Ema moved on the brother didn't easily accepted her in. Of course though, sooner or later the brothers feeling towards Ema starts to change, and from there it's possible that the changed feeling will be blossoming towards the forbidden love. It also has anime adaptation, so at least it's quite popular to a degree. As for the translated version, it's Passion Pink. I did mention the version because turned out there's a big difference between version, with said difference is which brothers that you can date, so you can't date all of the brothers in the translated version here. Go get Brothers Conflict if you want to play it and have PSV (The translator only translate PSV version), and have fun. Cherry Kiss announce yet another nukige with the title Kinky Cosplay: Gyarus Gone Wild, and well I can only say that it's another short nukige from Miel with the focus is the gyaru heroines. In case you want to get it, it'll be available on 13th later. Speaking of nukige, Shiravune first 2023 title is one in that it's the sequel of nurse femdom nukige, Nope Nope Nope Nurses, and it should be obvious that it'll be about another femdom nukige with nurses heroines, so it's not my interest here. In case you want to get it though, you can note the release date in which it'll be on 20th later. JAST did confirm that they're failed to release Tokyo Necro in 2022, but in exchange they mentioned that they're preparing for both Steam and GOG release, so at least you can buy it from the other stores beside JAST store. As for the cause of the delay, as expected it's more or less because the engine work of it is still not done yet, especially with them mentioned that they're 'working closely with Nitroplus to deliver the best possible experience for players', which apparently involving several testing and stuffs. Speaking of delay, we also have Lupercalia release delayed because of the translator was too busy, although he most certainly promised that he'll release the full translation patch in this month. Oh yes we have Lupercalia is at 99% edited with QC in progress, with the remaining things to do are give a look through to all script files along with cleaning typos here and there. For the rest of fan translation updates, besides Brothers Conflict release and Lupercalia delay announcements, we have Chronos is fully translated along with 80% edited, 70 out of 138 script files of Umi kara Kuru Mono are translated, Senmomo is at 84.08% edited with side stories is at 44.3% edited, the editing of Tsuki's route in Akagoei FD is currently ongoing with the translator started translating Akagoei 3, ChuSingura is at 17.78% translated, H2O is at 81.3% translated with Hamaji's route was fully translated, and Eustia is at 99.46% in programming with Licia's chapter is at 97.14% in programming. We also have Snow Ryuujin informed that they managed to translated 2 out of 4 sex scenes in Hikari's route of Miagete, in which it's pretty much about 60% like the last update mentioned. That's all for what I can say in regard of this week, and see you next week.
  16. I did try Study Steady 2 patch from SVN, and even though I can still get what the lines are about it's easier to just gave up on it. Anyway as for SVN translation, my suggestion is that it'll be better to just move on from it even if you're desperate for the translated VNs, especially if SVN just directly add the lines from DeepL directly without did the extensive editing on those.
  17. Welcome to Fuwanovel and sorry for the belated greeting. No much to say here other than good luck with your game (Even though I can't exactly says that I prefer BL) and I hope that you'll have fun in here.
  18. More New Year gift from the translator, and the gift is right now we have 421 lines from Licia's chapter last script file was TLC-ed.
  19. If you want some recap for One Piece, may as well visit TV Trope page of it instead of watching the movie because it's pretty clear that the movie here is the standalone media separated from the main series. Tsukikage Ran here is about handsome female samurai with her cheery companion, and I only remember that I watch it in Animax. I see that you decided to add Doremi here, so may as well try to comment on it. I did read the manga that basically bring some TV episodes into the book form, and after the aftermath of the first season Doremi and friends (Including Onpu who in the first season has bad inital relationship with the cast) come to the Witch world to search their witch's mentor, and after some events they assigned to take care of the magical baby that they found in the flower. The writer also to continuing the subplot of a bad wizard from the previous season, and in here said bad wizard hired four handsome boy who will become the obstacle for Doremi. Well no much to comment here other than Doremi in the first season of third millennium here, so that's all for my comment on Winter 2000 anime.
  20. Trouble Chocolate - It's broadcasted in Indonesia, and obviously it's the gag series. By the way it's also quite memorable if only for Murakata and Deborah who keep calling each other name, although obviously it's exaggerated seeing that this is parody series and all (Not that it stop them for being cheesy in regard of it). Also now that I think of it, perhaps this series may be as well another Excel Saga but instead with romance anime parody. The Big O - Well it has divisive ending, and that it's setting based on New York city. That's all for what I know in regard of this anime. Hunter x Hunter - Also know as Hiatus x Hiatus because the constant backpain that the author suffer, and the recent hiatus is happen very recently after he did comeback after his very long hiatus since 2018 by writing around 10 chapter. Hiatus aside, the series is about Gon who want to be the best hunter like his dad. I see that the author made the cast like Yu Yu Hakusho, and also deconstruct several shonen tropes. For 1999 series, it did extend the Hunter Exam arc compared to 2011 series. 1999 series is stopped at time when the cast is in Yorknew City (ie Phantom Brigade arc) with Kurapika's past did catch up to him, and by the way he looks like female compared to Kurama. One Piece - Well you know that this series is very famous when even the possibility of someone joined Straw Hat can become a very hot debate, with the recent case is with Yamato in that Oda (One Piece's writer) finally had Yamato not join at all (I assume that Toei pressure Oda to not do it so that they didn't need to deal with the bothersome procedure to have Saori Hayami (Yamato's VA) as one of the regular cast). By the way if you want to glance on One Piece you better check the manga, because the anime did going on with a very glacial pace thanks to Toei decided to adapt one chapter into one episode. Currently One Piece here is starting to wrapping up the plot thread because it's already enter the endgame, so at least it's almost close to the ending. That's all for what I can write in regard of Autumn 1999 anime.
  21. Death Mark 2 - I only remember it as one of AX announcements after saw the VNDB entry on that, and after I search my comment on it back in last July (Because I already forgot about it) I'd comment that I'm neutral about it so I should say that my feeling on it is not changed at all. 13th Month - It has same graphic like Fata Morgana along with interesting if not cryptic premise, although the Steam version of it has a big list of problems. Well whatever. Napoleon VN - Has cute Napoleon (What else) along with that it's the first part of the serial VN, and also it has two Marie Antoniette. If anything else, the graphic are cute enough. Detective Nosuri - I'm not exactly need another Utawarerumono 2 spin-off with Nosuri being detective, but maybe some hardcore fans need one of those. Also I like on how ironic that Osthor's VA need to carry over Haku's role from his late VA while in-story Haku need to carry on Osthor's last wish in Utawarermono 3 anime, and Kentarou Tone is obviously voicing Haku here. Hoshi ga Otome - Rosetta definitely started to establishes themselves as GL and trap MC company, although so far they only focused on short route. I don't know on how long the game it is, but if it's still the same story then obviously having five characters is wasted opportunity unless they want to make another VN featuring the characters in this VN. That aside, I definitely want to see more of their works seeing that the arts so fare at quite good. Asuka-san - Single heroine VN from Azarashi-soft, so obviously it has beautiful graphic. Interesting to note that the writer did write several eushully VNs in the past, although obviously there won't be things like demon or angel. Girl Frantic Clan - Both of this and Prekano's VN are the Swan Song for GIGA (For the reminder Prekano is from the same group as GIGA) with them will closing down on March later. As for Frantic Clan, it's more like usual SAO except with the MC keep dying at the end of each day and then pulled out at each time when the school end. He did his best to fight his cursed situation by asking the help from the heroines, although it's easier said than done because of his situation. Other than that, apparently the game is getting harder and that the ending is quite lackluster. Oh, the artist here is Yaegashi Nan, who as we know did the design work for Senran Kagura along with Evenicle duology. Lackgirl - The writer is the one who wrote Misaki's route of Aokana along with wrote EXTRA2, so at least we know that some of his works are quite good. That said, I don't exactly know what to expect here other than it's a VN about magical girl, it'll be all age because they use the anime VA (And also Hasegawa Ikumi use her real name instead of her alias Akabane Kyouko), and that it's serial VN. Other thing that I know is that apparently there'll be English release later, although it's just the plan that can be cancelled for now. Arcana Alchemia - Lump of Sugar most recent VN with them decided to go with alchemy like Atelier series, and that they also has usual animal eared heroine with the excuse that said heroine is the homunculus. Other than it's obviously will have light story, I'll just say that hopefully Nekonyan will localize this in the future. For VN of the Month, I would give it to Arcana Alchemia because technically it's the only complete VN along with that it has good production value. Well you definitely know on how plain the month it is when a borderline moege from Lump of Sugar is simply the most interesting VN here, although admittedly Lackgirl may have interesting story in the later installment. That said, here's hoping that there'll be more interesting Japanese release in 2023 later, so that's all for my comment on December 2022 releases.
  22. I see. I thought that both are still using BGI, but it no longer the case. That said, from what I understand both BGI and Artemis are more or less the same, although apparently there's still some difference. I may as well test the partial patch later, but seeing that the thread was created in 2017, the translator may already have DMM version (ie New Edition) in mind. Edit - Now that I have time to test the patch, I'd erratum my earlier post in that @Takeru1000 should get the New Edition here, because there's big enough difference between BGI and Artemis (Even though they basically the same), so yeah in case his friend still wonder which version to get if he want to patch the game, then I shall recommend him to get the old edition seeing that the patch is worked on using BGI in mind.
  23. I still not check it yet, but seeing that there's no much change that I know, getting New Edition should be fine enough (Especially if your friend has Windows 10). Also as long as the engine is not changed, the patch should be applicable to all the available PC version (No idea if it can be applied to the console version). To summarize, just get New Edition here, although if your friend find out that the old edition is cheaper and want to save money then your friend should buy the old version of it.
  24. I thought that XSEED here just published Japanese version, only to realize that they're English localization company, so my bad on the mistake here (I must have been out of my mind when I wrote that). Anyway now that I'm certain that it'll be available in English, my response is still the same in that I don't know if I'll try this if the game available in English later.
  25. In 2022, the pandemic was starting to subside, so after two years of absence, we finally had conventions with several new VNs translation announcements. Of course, we still have translated VN releases, so I'll list the best-rated translated VNs in 2022. Once again, I may be subjective, so I'm sorry if some of your favorite VNs are not here, and feel free to disagree with my choice. Anyway, let's see the best translated VNs in 2022 that I chose here, and of course, the rank and the score can change in the future. For the scores, I'll use today's (June 2nd, 2025) scores for each VN. 10. Evenicle 2 (VNDB 7.35) There's a drama behind the Evenicle 2 release because of the censorship on the trial version that removes the first sex scene. The censorship is not much help to add this on Steam anyway, thanks to a random ban from Valve. For the game, I thought it was an unnecessary sequel at first. However, after I played the trial, I found myself liking this. Of course, most people would understandably see this as inferior compared to the prequel, especially with no changes in the gameplay besides the healing system and skill gain, which are not much better than the prequel. For the premise, Alex, an apprentice doctor in a world with a deadly pandemic, heard the news of a beautiful girl getting sick. Because he's as pervert as Aster (the prequel MC), Alex starts to examine the patient, which leads him to discover that he can cure the beautiful female patient through sexual intercourse thanks to his hidden ability (I'm not making up the premise). After seeing the effect of the treatment, Alex concluded that his ability might be the key to eradicating the pandemic. Then he went to get his doctor's license, and while on the trip, he found himself treating several more beautiful female patients. 9. Ouchi ni Kaeru made ga Mashimaro Desu (VNDB 7.41) After Shiravune localized both Primal Hearts and Study Steady, they went to localized one more VN from Marmalade, Mashimaro (localized as Marshmallow All the Way Home), so currently, we have four VNs from Marmalade (including Primal Hearts 2) translated by Shiravune. In Mashimaro, our MC, Ryou, becomes homeless after being chased out of his former house and forced to sleep in the park. One day, he met with a friendly, beautiful girl who fed him sweets and then introduced herself as Kanon. Being grateful, Ryou followed Kanon to her bakery, Marshmallow Tree, which was almost out of business because of a change in the opening hour and the arrival of a famous competitor nearby. As the responsible person, Ryou returned the favor by helping Kanon revitalize Marshmallow Tree by working as a part-timer there. It turned out that he was pretty competent, so he managed to make Marshmallow Tree successful quickly. Even though Kanon is the apparent main heroine (as shown in the beginning), Ryou can date another girl besides her. While Mashimaro here has a sweet and lighthearted story, it also has several lengthy sex scenes in the heroine's routes. 8. Otome * Domain (VNDB 7.43) Shiravune manages to localize the Otome Domain, in that it's one of the known trap VN besides Otoboku and Tsuki no Yorisou. By the way, I added this based on my interest in the VN with trap MC. While the VNDB lists the connection with Boku to Koi Suru Ponkotsu Akuma (Koikuma), it's only for the trial version. But, since the heroines are the same as in Koikuma for being useless, we may call this Koikuma with the young ladies. In Otome Domain, we have the MC, Minato, who recently lost his grandmother, leaving him alone. At the funeral, a young lady, Kazari, offers Minato to take care of his needs. Said offer included enrolling Minato into the school that Kazari runs as the board chairwoman. However, Minato must cross-dress as a girl since the school is an all-girls school, and he manages to look as good as a girl, much to his dismay. After coming into the school, Minato finds out that Kazari has some quirk that makes her useless, and his dormmates also have some quirks that make them problematic. Having no choice, Minato decides to take care of their problem, which makes him ironically more feminine than the girls who enrolled in the school. 7. Cafe Stella to Shinigami no Chou (VNDB 7.54) Yuzusoft finally decided to make a VN revolve around a cafe after featuring it several times in their previous VNs with Cafe Stella. When Cafe Stella was about to be released in Japan, Yuzusoft provided several 4-Koma videos featuring each heroine (including the side one). Said videos have English captions, which should indicate that Cafe Stella will be localized. Sure enough, Nekonyan announced they'd localize Cafe Stella in 2020 before finally releasing it in March 2022 as the 5th officially translated Yuzusoft VN (which includes Parquet, even though it is just the experimental work). For the premise, we have our MC Kousei encounter a cute grim reaper, Kanna, after he somehow turned back into the past because of an accident that supposedly killed him, and Kanna tells Kousei that he's still not free from his grim fate yet. So Kousei decided to accept Kanna's offer to help her, as he had worked with Kanna to open the titular Cafe Stella. The story of Cafe Stella combines the supernatural (Kanna and her grim reaper work) and slice-of-life (obviously the cafe). Lastly, I can say that the waitress uniform looks nice, with the color scheme resembling the waitress uniform in Blend S. 6. Hello Lady (VNDB 7.55) I admit that my initial interest in Hello Lady was because of the VAs, of which two, Eri Sendai and Yamamura Hibiku, were voicing Precure. Even without looking at those VAs, the VN is already well known. Many people wish to have this VN translated, although no company was willing to get the license until Nekonyan announced this in 2018. Afterward, it took more than 40 months before the release because the developer, Akatsuki Works, needed time to develop the engine for the complete edition (which includes the FD and an additional ending from the PSV version). After a long wait, we have Hello Lady release in January 2022. For the premise, we have Narita, who has been invited to The Academy as a transfer student by the chairman, rescue the kidnapped student council president Saku while also deciding to be daring by grabbing Saku's breast. Of course, Saku was furious about that, especially with Narita joining the council. While initially Narita is presented as a breast lover, actually Narita himself has come to the school with his hidden goal in mind, and he may find himself finding out that there's something more regarding his said goal. 5. Amatsutsumi (VNDB 7.80) For some reason, Valve banned Amatsutsumi on Steam, thus making Sekai need to delay the release for a while before finally releasing it on the other platforms. While we can think of several reasons why Valve banned this, such as high school settings and the MC (Makoto) having sex with more than one girl, only Valve can answer that. In Amatsutsumi, we have Makoto, who lives in an isolated village and is already engaged. He wanted to set the journey to see the outside world because of his intense longing, so he started to do so. But then, he collapsed in the nearby town because he didn't prepare enough before leaving the village. After being saved by a passerby, Kokoro, Makoto uses his power to brainwash Kokoro through a word to make her think of Makoto as Kokoro's older brother. Then, Makoto decided to live with Kokoro's family as the first step to living as a regular human instead of someone with superpowers. Some days after, Makoto encounters a girl, Hotaru, who is immune to his power. After talking with Hotaru, Makoto promises to help the other by using his power. He will do so with all the heroines, who each have their circumstances. 4. Chaos Head Noah (VNDB 7.88) Technically, this is a redundant release because we already have the Chaos Head translation patch from 2009, and Noah is mostly the same. That said, the developer added some new content, such as routes and a new opening, so we can consider it a new release despite several problems with the English releases, such as the ban by Valve before it got revoked and a high number of bugs. This release is significant as Noah is the very first VN of the Science Adventure series, and with this, now we have all translated Science Adventure VN available on Steam. For the premise, we have our loser MC Nishijou Takumi, an otaku who rarely leaves his room on the rooftop except to go to school occasionally. One day, he heard a rumor that a serial murder had happened around his premises in Shibuya. Since Nitroplus developed the original Chaos Head, the murders were very disturbing. After somehow stumbling upon one of the serial murder sites, Takumi encounters a cute girl with a lot of blood on her body, and naturally, he's frightened. After that, one way or another, Takumi finds himself dragged into the middle of the serial murder case, which forces him to find a way to survive the ordeal. 3. Tokeijikake no Ley Line -Asagiri ni Chiru Hana- (VNDB 8.15) Compared to the 51-month gap between the Tokeijikake trilogy's first and second part releases, the second and last part releases are only eight months apart. It helps that Sekai and the developer had already ironed out the buggy engine by the time the second part was available in March 2022, so they didn't need to wait too long to release the whole trilogy. As for the premise of the entire trilogy, it started with our MC Koga attending the mysterious magical school located in a remote area. Sometime after entering the school, Koga accidentally breaks a quite expensive statue. Unfortunately, Koga has no money to compensate for it. To have Koga take responsibility for the broken statue, the principal paired him with the head of the Bureau for the Investigation of Special Affairs, Ushio (the main heroine of the Tokeijikake trilogy). Said Bureau is responsible for investigating magic-related incidents in the school, and eventually, the Bureau would investigate the massive incident in the last part. Since both Koga and Ushio here are pretty stubborn, the meeting between those two ended in bad blood. Of course, both of them would develop their relationship throughout the trilogy. 2. Hakuchuumu no Aojashin (VNDB 8.52) Around the time when the English version of Aojashin was released, several headache-inducing shenanigans happened. Those shenanigans are the writer's "smooth" way of addressing the censorship critic, the license problem for another Laplacian VN, and the setting change for the high school student heroine into a college student. While the English version here obviously didn't have 18+ contents because of the censorship, thankfully, a fan team worked hard to restore the removed contents and revert the change for the school student heroine. In Aojashin, we have a combination of Fata Morgana and Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V. The latter is because Laplacian used their previous VNs setting into Aojashin here, and ARC V did the same. Story-wise, it's closer to Fata Morgana because it and Aojashin have three initial stories/cases that converge into one main arc. Other similarities are that both have white-haired girls involved in the story, and that's where the similarities end. Unlike in Fata Morgana, where you start from the first story, in Aojashin, you'll randomly start in one of three initial cases. For the video, I'll use the Case 0 opening because Case 0 is the main arc of Aojashin itself. 1. Mahoutsukai no Yoru (VNDB 8.64) After watching Evangelion, a man was getting inspiration to write a novel. However, the publisher rejected the novel because of its length. Some years later, after the man had been successful with Fate/Stay Night, he revisited his old novel. Yes, that man is Kinoko Nasu, and his old novel is Mahoyo with the full title Mahoutsukai no Yoru (literally translated as "A Magician's Night"). For the premise, we have Aoko (who, as we know, is Shiki's teacher in Tsukihime) suddenly chosen to become the head of a magician family, so naturally, she's underprepared. To prepare herself, she lives with the young witch Alice in her mansion to get some magic lessons. After some time, Aoko's classmate, Soujuurou, witnesses the duo using magic. Seeing no other choice, they force Soujuurou to live in the mansion. While the premise sounds like a slice-of-life story (and to be fair, it is), being a Type-Moon VN, there will be some battles with beautiful effects. Initially, Nasu planned Mahoyo to be the trilogy. But seeing that Nasu is still busy with FGO and promised to work on the sequels after he finishes with the Tsukihime remake (which only has the first half released in August 2021), it better not expect the sequels to be released soon. Overall, 2022 still has some good releases, even though they're not as big as 2021. That said, I felt that some of the exciting releases concentrated on the fan discs, which, while it's not bad per se, I would prefer to see more exciting releases for the main title here. Anyway, now that we're in 2023 here, I hope we see more nice releases, especially from Nekonyan. Of course, I still want to see if JAST can keep their release pace, even with them sometimes releasing the Remaster of their old VNs. Lastly, while I don't know if I can look forward to Mangagamer and Sekai's new title, I hope they can release some interesting VNs. PS - Since we have William Shakespeare in Aojashin, I allude to his play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, by changing "Night's Dream" into "Magician's Night" (because Mahoyo release), so we have "A Midsummer Magician's Night" as the title.
