Basically, get images (.iso format) of the original f/sn install CDs, then apply patches to them. If it's anything like Tsukihime, there might actually be an installer that uses the cd, meaning you can bypass a confusing japanese installation. Given the amount of extra stuff you can get into fate, though... sure seems annoying.

F/SN is really long, especially if you go for all the bad ends (they are generally cool or funny or creepy or whatever, I kinda recommend collecting every one and always viewing the tiger dojo). Expect over 40 hours, id say.

^From what I heard (source is partially a moogy post, kill me ), the hoshimemo FD has significantly harder japanese than the original vn. I have no personal experience in this though, and the same physics-related stuff is presumably at least existent in the original.
