Tried to reread 999. Ruined the game for me.
Zakamutt replied to Funyarinpa's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I still haven't re-read Katawa Shoujo bar Hanako's route; perhaps it's for the better . I do wonder how E17 would hold up on a second read - I'd only do it in Fapanese, so that might fundamentally change it to begin with lol. -
girls.... tsunderes... lemme see what I can randomly find in my pics folder

I hope the mods man up and remove PW at some point, it would make me feel better about myself. Gone Home fits into the adventure genre quite well, though I'm sure there's fans of that genre feeling very sore in the bottom whenever someone says that... hmm, what does that remind me of again?

LLTQ got rekt, get over it (´・ω・`)

Well, it says "playstation 2 OST". It's pretty possible it's not in the PC port? other than that, it sounds hella like a remix of another track, though I'm not sure which lol.

I very much enjoyed Gone Home when I played it. I considered whether I would call it a visual novel afterward and during, but rejected the notion. Why? It's just too interactive. When I read visual novels, I don't consider myself in control apart from picking which pages i want to read at certain well-defined points. In Gone Home, I was in control at all times, able to move as I like through a 3d space (the closest analogue to Gone Home in the 2d space would be the non-3d versions of Actual Sunlight, by the way). The feeling of self-insertion was utterly unlike the visual novels I know and love; I started roleplaying that little grill's oneechan soon as I knew who I was. Don't remind me of how I felt during Lilly's bad end in Katawa Shoujo, it's way too embarrassing. The argument the vndb mods would make against it, though, is that through the average play experience you might spend as much if not more time exploring as actually reading anything. Is this valid? Bugger if I know. All in all, Gone Home may or may not be a visual novel, but it ain't no visual novel o'mine (as you say :P). That said, I quite enjoyed it and may check out other walking simulators, or whatever new epithet people will have given them by then, at some point.

Decay's Superlative Sekai Project Interview
Zakamutt replied to Darklord Rooke's topic in Visual Novel Talk
I think we should note here that the questions were not asked in ""person"", but through email (pretty usual these days). Considering it caused by the Internet is a bit misleading when what often really happens is the effect of being just one in a crowd of pseudonyms. Also, making an effort to be polite tends to make this kind of thing better Oh, and the interview's p. good indeed. The answer on the OELVN question including the Sakura series is quite amusing for how... schizophrenic it is w -
Accuse Me of Something Stupid [Clearly Not a Shitpost Outlet]

I blame you for every fuwapocalypse we've ever had. I could swear you were the guy who ratted us out to IPB back then even, yup (´・ω・`). -

Which VN localization company do you prefer?

Phoenix Wright is a pretty great translation if you can look away from the slight discrepancies though. I can't fault them for anything but the decision to use a different translator for the other PW games, lol. -

New FuwaReviews Scoring System
Zakamutt replied to solidbatman's topic in Community Coordination and Feedback
1-10 scoring is a 7/10 system. It has great moments, yes, but overall it isn't all that impressive. IMHO it does not deserve very high a place in the hallmark of scoring systems. -
>New OP The OP is great, though Anyway, already started reading Katahane, though god knows if I'll actually finish. If the pictures are just going to be a pure upscale, it's not like your GPU can't do that anyway... though if you take the time and use better algorithms it might look better.

Symphonic rain is probably the best character drama of the bunch suggested here, though there's no porn if that's a dealbreaker for you. However, as you seem to be looking for something more sappy... Da Capo I and II might be up your alley given what I've heard about them, and you may be able to stomach the protagonist abuse in Ikikoi (Hey, I enjoyed it, stop the *triggered* pictures). Hoshizora no Memoria is good as well, though some may find the repetitive comedy jarring.

Cooking With Zaka: a Super-Legit Tomato Sauce Narrative
Zakamutt commented on Zakamutt's blog entry in Disearnestly Disearnest
Dad's a pretty hardcore garlic hater, so the garlic discrimination makes sense Considering how painful onion vapors can be, I almost feel tempted to get contacts... not to mention the ability to win staring contests with ease would be quite an asset. I've always preferred white pepper to black. It's got a more immediate punch; black pepper just kinda sneaks up on you and doesn't give you a straight-up flavor improvement. -
Cooking With Zaka: a Super-Legit Tomato Sauce Narrative
Zakamutt posted a blog entry in Disearnestly Disearnest
Oh shit, I’m cooking today and it’s like one hour til I have to start. I really should have remembered to take something out of the freezer to thaw… I really don’t want to thaw something in the microwave, so my options are basically gradually peeling off a block of ground meat in the pan (huge pain), krögarpytt (brand of frozen mix of potato, onion and various meats, plus lots of things I’d have to look at the ingredients list for), or… oh yes, my saviour – that lovely meaty cylindrical thing I first had back in Eastern Europe. Regrettably, I am not speaking of dicks. The frozen ćevapčići lidl sells in 1kg bags is both delicious and affordable, but we’ve had it a few too many times recently. I should probably cook something else… maybe I’ll change the condiments from rice to pasta or fries… fuck fries turning them is a huge pain… meh fuck pasta too… okay it’s rice again… wait, I could make a sauce! …but what exactly? It’s not like I have the time to make tomato sauce from scratch, and frankly it’s not like it’s that great anyway (I’ve done it according to a legit recipe once!). Well, if you don’t like a recipe you can always change it! I quickly search the fridge and find a fairly small red onion, garlic (not an option, was rotting), and okay that was all I was looking for in the fridge to begin with. Next I reach for the box of strained tomatoes I know is in the larder next to the fridge. Surprisingly it has not been abducted by aliens (maybe the red on the packaging scared them off), allowing me to wrest it from the depths of the… just kidding, it was at chest height on the second shelf. I get a bouillon cube, a knife, put some rapeseed oil in a saucepan, and set to business; the business is making the bouillon cube submit to my knife (not the easiest), and cutting the onions. I managed to not cry. The preparation of the ćevapčići and rice was easy (and irrelevant). Anyway, the sauce. I heat the oil at medium-high for a bit, pop in a piece of onion to see if it’s ready, and the bubbling around it assures me that this is the case. I put in the rest of the onion and stir it around a bit, lower the heat, and pour in some of the strained tomato and the semi-powdered bouillon cube (it did not submit fully, but I was able to impose strict limits on its military and generally destroy its infrastructure), let it boil, add salt (used a lot, which was a bad idea – try not to do that, the bouillon cube prolly has it already), white pepper, and finally the x-factor ingredient I just had to put in: chili flakes. A bit too many, I reflected after I had thrown in a bunch. After letting it boil slightly and stirring it around a bit, I decided it was done, used a spoon to try it, and was promptly greeted with something strong and edible, probably in that order. It was actually not too bad, and if nothing else it proves that whipping something up on your own isn’t necessarily too bad. At least if you’re a Zaka. I may or may not make it ever again, but I’ll probably take it a bit easier with the chili flakes and use less salt. Thus concludes this episode of Cooking With Zaka. Ingredients: 1 bouillon cube 1 red onion strained tomatoes white pepper salt (maybe) chili flakes / seeds / whatever rapeseed oil (olive oil might be better) Serve with other stuff, if you actually think it’s worth trying. There are probably better recipes. View the full article -

The bloody battle : my next avatar.
Zakamutt replied to Kurisu-Chan's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
The problem is that rectangular avatars aren't really supported anymore, so neither #2 nor #3 will look all that great after the inevitable crop. I can't in good conscience vote for either of them. -
I'm using raw input, but I'm not sure if a lot changed when I started doing it. I'm using an optical mouse with an accurate sensor and all that jazz (the Mionix Avior 7000), not sure if that would change things (and yes, obv windows mouse accel is off).

I remember back in ppv1 where people didn't have that much respect for pp as the calculation algorithm wasn't that good. There was a different site, osu!tp, which used algorithms to analyze each map's difficulty rather than a statistical approach and give scores based on that (the tp dev is now on official osu staff). Anyway tp only ever checked top50 scores, so you'd 3mod normals if you were a scrub and wanted to get some scores up lol. Got a decent few top50 scores that way, such nostalgia~ That said, this was probably a bit harder than those. #21
