For those of you interested, Hounan's route in the console version goes like this (very rough draft) :

Both are fine. They're just using the same method to show a story. There are several bad OELVNs and there's a huge amount of bad JVNs, just because there are many more JVNs out there. I tend to purposefully limit myself to the translated perspective, but I've read a lot of titles in jp too... You'll generally find higher quality in jp works. There are some really good VNs out there in japanese, where I've only found a few good OELVNs. That doesn't mean JVNs are better, though. They're just higher in number, so it's inevitable that'll happen. I will say your average VN has a high chance of being better than your average OELVN... But that's because a lot of OELVN writers are struggling with what to do and they decide to copy the JVN style, which doesn't really work out in english. Incidentally, I prefer ordinary novels over VNs. I've read many, many, many more books than I have VNs, and I never spend time with romance-only titles (anime romance is so, so, cringy and awful. It's like they're trying to spread the message that "true love" comes out of awkward small talk and super powers. That or never speaking a word and trying to act as bland as possible. Or treating everyone you know with contempt. Etc, etc, etc. In my completely objective, 100% law, honest-to-goodness opinion, anime romance should die in a fire.) Regardless, judging a VN quality by where in the world it was made is dumb. There are some cultural differences, but great stories can come from each side. And if it's not a great story, you should probably ignore it exists and just read a proper book.

New cards for the expansion shown! I'm so hyped <3

It's been only some days since we decided to read Ayakashibito, yet it should be enough for first impressions of the game. Don't worry, we will have more in-depth discussion in the 21... So, what are your thoughts on the game so far, people? Any favorite heroine? Did the beginning surprise you? https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/7111-vn-reading-club/

Huh. I think Ebola-chan is just a bad joke (not really because of any moral issue- it's just a shock joke without any shock value), and definitely not worth investing anything into... But if you like it, go ahead. Who knows. Maybe their writing skill will make this the next Katawa Shoujo. Or maybe the virus girls are what made the katawa girls disabled. We will never know, unless it gets funded.

Nightmare was pretty cool.

People just like running traptrixes because they're cute You should maindeck triple anti raigeki. I guarantee it's not awful
-
Not really... I liked those times, but still, I've always been fine with synchro and xyzs. A few months ago, a slow traptrix deck ended up winning a big tournament, and it was a deck based on slowly getting card advantage over time. We can have a fast-paced yet long and interactive game- a lot of duels are still incredibly fun, even amongst meta decks. I just dislike OTKs. They're not always too meta, and they've always been there, for the most part.
-
I don't think Raigeki is a broken card or anything. It's ok- you deserve losing to it if it's because the card got too much advantage. No one should overextend, and I like the fact that it punishes that. My problem with the card is just that it's poorly designed. Well, it's more like I dislike OTKs and I'm likely to complain about things that support it (like the pendulum mechanic )
-
Why stratos is still banned is beyond me. Even with their full arsenal, I don't think heroes would be overpowered in the current meta. They get lots of free advantage with the mask gimmicks, but we have other strong decks out there. Oh well. Raigeki surprised me, though. I don't think it's a card that should be in the game, mostly because it supports OTKs too much... Is asking for a game that lasts more than 6 turns too much, I wonder.
-
I remember arguing with people right after the cyber dragon support because they thought the effect of Power Bond only lasted one turn... DN is dumb
-
Of course. It does get better when you raise in the rankings, but when you're just starting, you're doomed to deal with trolls... Though finding newcomers can be particularly funny at times.
-
I really wouldn't recommend DN. Too much time spent on trolls and arguing about the rules. Having to do everything manually is annoying, too.

I like playing plants quasar. Those moments where you get your first turn quasar are just magic. The rage quits

Inb4 "Pendulum decks take no skill. That's why I play Lightsworn "
-
I'm on the field that dislikes pendulum. Too many resources to make a play, get wrecked by mst. I do play from time to time.
-
Happened to everyone else. Though it still seems normal while you're quoting it, it's not in the answer.

...I've read a lot of VNs (over 300 of them) and what you're asking for is kinda difficult. Most VN heroines have some sort of psychological trauma, a troubled past, some sort of drama or something along those lines, even in pure moege. It gets even harder when you want to have no sexual content... If I could suggest japanese VNs, there would be more options, but you said you didn't want those, so. Well, why not take a look at Katahane? Or Little Busters? There are moments in both that can make you cry, but they have happy endings. Otherwise, you should give a try to Deardrops, Hoshizora no Memoria or Quarttet. Some of these have H-scenes, but they are really short and non-prevalent in the story (they make up much less than 1% of the text). If you want more suggestions, take a look at my 50 VNs list

Haha. I actually thought Nana was the best girl- I tend to dislike imoutos, but she just does it all right. She's delightful, really~ Kazuna annoyed me at some points, otherwise she was meh-ish. I have a really bad compatibility with her type of character Tôji is indeed about as cool as you can get. Those Hatsune faces, though.

Nichijou is pretty cool. That's all I have to say about it.
