  1. Today, I am even more worried about Fuwa than usual.
  2. The Little Busters! soundtrack is godly. I listen to VN soundtracks fairly frequently at work, and it's certainly the one I've picked the most, easily outpacing Rewrite (with all others way behind). Also, don't listen to Eclipsed. Kurugaya's route is absolutely beautiful, though it should definitely be played last, right before Rin2 + Refrain. And frankly I found the others to be good as well... but I'm an unapologetic LB fanboy, so my advice is probably not the best.
  3. I also kind of agreed with you. In retrospect, I would've rather played the Realta Nua version. Though I do have to agree with Suzu's point about the HF route. I can't really see it working as well without the sex scenes. But in Fate and UBW, they're totally unnecessary, that first Fate one is very unreasonable in context, and they're all not very good (lack of voice acting isn't helping any).
  4. For some reason, the P3 evoker imagery never really did much for me, but on the other hand, I did always like Arisato's apparent insanity. Image itself is ok. 7/10
  5. It was very clearly the cat in the anime as well, I thought, and I actually thought this particular story was told a little better in the anime than in the VN. Also, I thought it was really sweet. Misae's arc is one of my favorite stories in Clannad (though, yes, I have shit taste). My take on it is that the dying Shima made the wish he did for the sake of both the cat and Misae, and that they met each other and became a happy family as a result of that wish (important for any analysis of Clannad: get the word family in there). Also: WTF, no. At least, that's not how anybody I know plays with their pets.
  6. The Kanon anime is mostly better than the VN, with the exception of Nayuki's route, so I definitely wouldn't suggest playing that if you saw and enjoyed the anime (which, by the way, I thoroughly enjoyed and think is great). Not that I would suggest it anyway... the VN doesn't really stand the test of time well, even if it was quite likely the gold standard at the time it was released, an eon ago. I put in a vote for Rewrite. Little Busters! is actually my favorite, but after crawling your VNDB, Rewrite seemed more likely to appeal. I will say, though, that of all the Key VNs I've played, Little Busters! is the one I think of as being most Key-like, whatever that means. Rewrite seems like it'd appeal to you more, but in a lot of ways it's not an especially Key-like VN the way Little Busters!, Clannad, and Kanon all are (and I can't speak to Air since I still haven't played it... but I suspect it's also a bit different). Oh, and I don't know anything about Angel Beats!, so yeah, maybe that one. Who knows.
  7. Yeah, I was the same all the way up until a few months after I turned 21, which also happens to be the legal drinking age in the States. I drank a fair bit on party nights that last year in college, and then scaled back after graduating. Now I drink moderately, but frequently. One drink happens most nights, but two drinks in a night is very rare (even though it wouldn't even give me a hangover, unless they're strong), and three is reserved for the extremely rare occasion when friends are being pushy and I cave in (obviously not on nights before work, since three drinks is for me pretty much a guaranteed hangover).
  8. If you put them in VNDB and MAL, and then link them to your profile, people will be able to see them, sort them, filter them, etc., without having to read a big wall of text that you post - much easier.
  9. If you wear glasses, seriously consider contacts. It's a pretty amazing experience to go back to having everything in your field of vision being visible, instead of everything inside that obtrusive frame. It probably took me a month to really get comfortable with them, but I hate what wearing glasses does to my field of vision now that I know what I'm missing out on. I switched about 10 years ago and have never wanted to go back. The surgery thing is tempting, but scary...
  10. Needless to say, you haven't contacted them about it since then, right?
  11. I already posted this over in the "Recent (Japanese) stuff you bought" thread, but here's my modest VN collection: Most of that is probably unreadable, and I'm way too lazy to take a bunch of close-up pictures, so here's the legend for the map: (top row, left to right) G-Senjou KonoSora Swan Song (hidden by camera angle) F/SN + F/HA Cross Channel MajiKoi Kanon Air Little Busters! Rewrite Angel Beats! 1st Beat first 3 Steampunk Series Symphonic Rain HoshiMemo Complete KoiChoco Grisaia (Sekai Project release collector's box - so it only has Fruit of Grisaia, at the moment) Ever17 White Album 2 Clannad (second row, left to right) Steins;Gate OST Grisaia OST Clannad OST Kanon OST Million Star single from Angel Beats! 1st Beat F/SN OST Comyu OST Symphonic Rain "Rainbow" vocal album To Heart 2 Comyu Like Derg, a fair number of my VN purchases are digital.
  12. Comments: Why are you keeping your garlic in the fridge instead of in a cute garlic house? Why are you consuming garlic slowly enough that it would go bad? Garlic is love. Contact lenses make you immune to onion vapors. I highly recommend them. I have never in my life used white pepper. I probably should get some, though, just on principle.
  13. So I really started in at my new job yesterday (met my team, my manager, etc.,). The people in the know basically explained in great detail about all the problems with the system, and a running theme was "we worked on this big thing for a while, but it had problems and we ended up cutting it out." And all the time I heard this sad story, I was just getting more excited, thinking about all the opportunity to fix things. I love fixing things.
  14. Welcome! At the rate you're reading, you should probably go make yourself a VNDB page and link it to your profile quick, before it's too late and you forget half of what you read. After that, go read Rewrite; as a fan of Key anime adaptations and chuuni stories, you should really enjoy it.
  15. After a while away from home, I fell out of touch with Tales of Zestiria and found myself with a hankering to play Senran Kagura again. So I picked up Burst. Last time I played through the whole Hanzo line and a bit of Hebijo, so now I'm doing the rest of Hebijo. It's still a fun game. I'm actually a little anxious to get through this game so I can play some of the later iterations in the series, though I expect I'll go play other things rather than moving straight on to the next one.
  16. True. It is, in fact, framed and hanging directly above my computer monitor. Next person hasn't sent a snail mail letter in the last month.
  17. Sold. This is totally the next VN I'm picking up.
  18. The thing with Gahkthun is that the point-of-view character is indeed a female, but (after chapter 1) there are a pair of protagonists running around doing everything - that female lead, Neon, is the Dr. Watson to Nikola Tesla's Sherlock Holmes, if you will. And while Neon certainly doesn't match what you're asking for, Nikola Tesla is pretty much a perfect fit. So, I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.
  19. This isn't really a WEE discussion thread, but I don't know if there is one of those, so off we go! IMO, WEE Episode 1 has a good story but a few key unlikeable characters which make the experience less pleasant. In contrast, WEE Episode 2 has half of a good story, and pretty much only has likeable characters. Unfortunately, that part about only having half of a good story results in a pretty unsatisfying ending. I'd suggest waiting until Episode 3 is out, then read both in a row. I've been waiting impatiently for Episode 3 for a while now...
  20. Yeah, that one definitely has me intrigued, too; I hadn't even heard of it outside of your posts here, but you've succeeded at getting me interested.
  21. I'm still playing Grisaia in the little time I can allocate to playing VNs. I recently finally finished my first route, Sachi, and have been skipping through the common route for a second time, deciding whose route to choose next. I might actually just make a save all the way at the first fork this time so I can avoid the skipping next time, though I actually find myself occasionally stopping to read common route scenes, and at times it seems I really do feel like playing the whole common route again. Maybe when I'm on the last route. Maybe I'll get Yumiko's route out of the way this time? I dunno, every one that pops into my head seems tempting... Once I'm done with that, I'm going to pick up an otome, mostly on the principal of branching out. Leaning towards Hakuoki, but I'm pretty interested in Ozmafia, in part because of the recent MangaGamer staff blog about editing it: http://blog.mangagamer.org/2016/05/05/ozmafia-editors-corner/ (which I know @ChaosRaven saw since I see his name in the comments ).
  22. I don't know Radiant Historia or Sage Fusion, so my only points of reference are the description and Yuuji and Kyousuke. Anyway, that said, Nikola Tesla in Gahkthun is about as stoic, pragmatic, and enigmatic as they come, although he's only rarely the point-of-view character. Probably worth checking out, though; Gahkthun is a great game. Maybe Comyu? Akihito's not as powerful or enigmatic as either Yuuji or Kyousuke, but he's pretty extreme on the stoic and pragmatic scale.
  23. I almost suggested Kokoro Connect, although that first arc has a bit of that fanservicey gag stuff, but it's one of my favorites as well. Anyway, given the above, I have a feeling you'd really like NagiAsu. It's got the most complex love polygon I've ever seen, but I mean that in the best possible way. I don't recall it having all that much humor, but it has quite a lot of romance and drama, a fair bit of suspense, and a fascinating setting. The ending isn't for everybody (paging Nosebleed for a rebuttal to this suggestion), but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
