  1. Sorry. Tay's been very sick lately, and I know some of the stuff he's planning. So I thought I'd try and calm things down while he's not on. EDIT: I'm well aware that you can't replace a forum with IM. For random chatter not containing any serious discussion, IM and Skype are quite adequate.
  2. I think you’re saying that “it should be possible to create another thread like this in the future if this one is closed down, unless the mods have a weird problem with them?” I just wanted to clarify that statement, please correct me if I’m wrong. There actually is a reason threads like these are being phased out in the future, and it has little to do with the mods. Sorry. But once again there are plenty of chat platforms around the place you can use. Most of us on Fuwa use them to muck around in.
  3. Why do I get the impression that’s just going to cause more angst later on? Calling it a homebase adds a feeling of permanency, and will create extra feels when the thread is closed down. Furthermore, Fuwa would actually be closing down a place given the title of ‘home’ instead of shutting down a thread people bonded in and have an attachment to. This will lead to even more accusations that Fuwa is insensitive and heartless and I don’t think Fuwa should open itself up to that.
  4. *Fufufu* Title suggestion - Lorem Ipsum ... without the smiley of course.
  5. Hey guys. I really don’t know whether I should be mentioning this or not (I definitely do not want to be misrepresenting Tay) but I thought if I said something it might stop the negativity running out of control. The fact is you guys most likely would have had to find a new home even if the mods hadn’t chose to clamp down on this thread. At the moment G&C is like the dumping ground of Fuwanovel - it’s the place for randomness, topiclessness and spam, and threads get chucked in here when they are deemed too silly for the rest of the forum. This results in a negative stigma becoming attached to this board which is undesirable, and Tay planned to transform the G&C board into a more positive place where Fuwa members could be social with one another. Unfortunately he’s been sick for a very long while and his plans have been put on hold, but randomness and silliness were planned to be reined in a touch. Not completely, but giant threads of randomness were unlikely to survive. On the plus side, new things were going to be added. Hmmm… Tay said this months ago and I have a poor memory sometimes. I hope I didn’t misrepresent him. Most members of Fuwa muck around with each other on one of the various chat platforms. Fuwa even has an official IRC. My suggestion would be to use one of those. I don’t recommend building another forum just for random talk, my experiences with those are they die after a little while. Or they morph into something else.
  6. If you use Nom de plume you confuse people WHILE sounding classy
  7. Of course. Why would the lack of a stable internet connection prevent people from making a visual novel? My thoughts are this - unless you have a big team (which isn't required for VN development) cloud technology would just be a hindrance. But that's just my opinion.
  8. The purpose of this section is to request or publish download links, that is all. Sorry but this belongs in GD. Good luck in finding a translator, though.
  9. It would depend on what it takes to "blow your mind." Stein's Gate was pretty mindblowing imo, but again it's a matter of preference.
  10. Before MG's games got onto Steam I think Boob Wars was their highest selling game. Something about "always selling out at conventions" and "needing another print run" or something. It beat out Kouhime Musou and Shuffle.
  11. This is an awesome idea.
  12. The JAST team works slowly on their projects because those projects aren't profitable for them. It's speculated the profits from JList keep JAST alive. The VN localisation gig Peter has going is most likely a labour of love. In comparison, MG releases a ton of nukige very quickly because (historically) that's what they needed to do to survive.
  13. Massive RPG fan.

  15. This looks like lots of fun. I wish you all luck. Also Mephisto has a point XD
  16. The categories don't really blend. Games can blend them but that doesn't mean the lines between such categories are blurry. Dating Sims are sim games where you fiddle with stats, Visual Novels are a form of interactive narrative (kinetic novels are not,) Adventure games means you like exploratory and puzzle gameplay, Eroge means you like erotic content with your games. Games can have more than one of these tags because these are all different types of categories. For instance Eroge is a tag relating to content whereas a Dating Sim tag describes the gameplay mechanic. That's not to say games can't have more than one tag from the same category...
  17. I should point out this discussion by Sawyer was held a few years ago but it has become relevant again for reasons. Specifically, Sawyer’s decision not to include combat exp in Pillars of Eternity has been causing a bit of angst. Which means previous interviews will get dug up etc.
  18. JE Sawyer, renowned developer for Obsidian and formerly Black Isle, and also an opinionated dude on RPG systems, has held a discussion regarding what he considers to be the definition of an RPG. This is causing waves amongst RPG fans (or derision) but you have to admire a man who stands by what he thinks. Even when he's wrong So here's what he says -

  20. For those of you who don't know, "Sekai Project" gave an interview with Silconera the other day. Unfortunately most of the questions asked weren't soup questions (I'm being nice here,) and if you combine this with Sekai's dodging very little useful information was gleaned. The important information which came out of the interview was a) Sekai looks to be well connected in Japan, and they seem to understand how to reassure Japanese developers. This could mean regular high-profile releases in the future and b ) Sekai contracts out most of the work. This could mean inconsistent translation quality, but looking at MangaGamer that's not an uncommon phenomenon. Here's the full interview:
  21. I have problems with this kickstarter (a lack of information, for example) but I thought it sufficiently interesting to bring to everyone's attention. Kodoku Chronicles is planned as a sidestory to Kodoku, which is an upcoming indie horror game on the PSVita and PS4. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1347225956/kodoku-chronicles The following is copied directly from the kickstarter page. Kodoku Chronicles is a Horror Visual Novel with a combat system based on strategy. It takes place in a universe which mixes Japanese folklore and the legends of H.P Lovecraft. Kodoku Chronicles is a Visual Novel focusing on the arrival of the characters in Kodoku Island. In this island, the main protagonist will encounter a hostile environment full of dangerous and insane locals. We would love see you getting close to the characters, not because they are strong, dangerous or even sexy for some of them, but because they have weaknesses or obsessions making them terribly human. Progress and Status The game is currently in a prototyping phase, and we have a basic version already running on several platforms. Our objective is to progress on the game itself, and to create better tools to help our content creators to add more elements and create the game content itself.
  22. A cheerful, gentle person who loves to have fun and isn’t at all obsessed with war. Not obsessed with war in the slightest. Not one bit.....
