  1. Considering there are only 2 major religions in the world at the moment, out of many hundreds, it doesn't say much if anything at all. Since when did 'war' become the deciding factor? The term 'war' assumes both sides of a conflict are armed, I think you'll find most atrocities committed by atheists are "massacres". There were "massacres" committed in the name of atheism, a far worst concept. My mother's family was from China, I know all about the atrocities of State Atheism. Did you want to exchange stories?
  2. There is no requirement for atheism in socialist countries and is therefore irrelevant to the conversation. I would also point out that Atheism has caused more violence and atrocities over the years than Buddhism.
  3. On the other side of the coin a core requirement of Communism is atheism, and Communist Countries are State Atheist. Just replace the term 'God' with ... say Kim Jong Un, and replace the term 'burn in hell' with 'torture you and possibly everyone you care about.' Communist countries also like to burn religion out of society, through torture or extermination.
  4. Actually not true, anything happening before the Big Bang is merely speculation. The requirements needed to even begin to prove such concepts are a long way away, and that IS the important bit when talking about origins. And Superstring Theory IS a hypothesis, as are ALL of the Big Bang's theories currently.
  5. If you were a believer of science, then depending on the version of the 'Big Bang' you subscribed to and your definition of the term 'God', wouldn't being open-minded about the possibility of a higher being be a natural process (I'm referring to Superstring's theory of 10 dimensions here.) *Chortles evilly*
  6. Each religion is its own belief system. So is atheism. None of them can be proved and pitting one belief system (atheism) against a multitude of different ones (every religion created) is just a tad unfair. A fairer system would be measuring each belief system against each other. I'm very confident quite a few religions beat atheism in the "caused fewer deaths" department
  7. As a student of history you'd also be familiar with the atrocities committed in the name of atheism, I assume?
  8. Like "Black Dragon Richard Mason Harold De Dion Plimm Stuart Kazuaki the third"?
  9. Good luck to the next participant. Nayleen's podcast was damn interesting.
  10. JAST promotes Aselia as an "epic RPG", which should give a clue regarding how much gameplay is involved.
  11. One of the stronger examples of redundancy in storytelling.
  12. *Sigh* I still don't "get" social media, and I don't think I ever will either
  13. I'm itching to play season 2 of the Walking Dead, but I don't want to start till they finish the season. *Bounces up and down*
  14. Quick question. How are you differentiating what goes on Twitter, to what goes on FB, to what goes on the blog? Just so there isn't lots of redundancy...
  15. I would like to see a Community section on the front page of this site, part of which could be a 'noticeboard' page where community members involved in projects could advertise for participants. And these wouldn't be limited to translation or development projects either. The section could also showcase completed projects of the community, and other stuff. I tend to see the blog as a place for news, so maybe not the most appropriate place for this. TL;DR: The main site needs an overhaul.
  16. I don't buy this reason. A h-scene is not needed to show development of a relationship, there's nothing in the scene the audience needs to know that is critical to understanding the progression of a relationship, and in most cases the mere understanding the act took place is enough for the audience. It is realistic true, it's also bloat which is dull to a lot of people. If you like H-Scenes that's fine, however I draw the line when people start saying it's necessary.
  17. What people meant by this statement is, if you choose to 'travel down the same path' the Japanese Industry usually head down, you have to remember there's many translated Japanese VNs available for 'free' in english. And because these VNs have far higher production values, they will be very hard to compete with and there may not be a market. There's one exception to the above rule and that is otome games. Japan do otomes better but there's very few translated otomes available, something which the English Industry has been able to capitalise on. Infact, I believe the English industry is dominated by otomes, filling an obvious gap. Ditto :3
  18. He knows who Kouryuu (John) is. Sanah is very active on the MG forums.
  19. No it isn't. People just lack perspective
  20. I find long common routes usually contain a lot of bloat, which irks me a little. I would rather they tighten up scenes and deliver a shorter game, personally. Also long common routes are annoying to replay, especially if you have to experience every route to unlock the ending *glances at Clannad*.
  21. Anything where I would be a)buried alive or b)set alight. I think landslide qualifies.
  22. More interested in the writing than the art, but that's just me. Good job Invert, I'll be checking this out soon :3
  23. Never. The mode annoys me.
