  1. There's some Western VNs that have 3rd person narration, I'd have to double check the titles before I listed them though. Alternatively you can just look through this list on VNDB http://vndb.org/g902
  2. Yes. "Visual Novel Reader" was discussed very briefly on the "Good Machine Translators?" thread.
  3. You should use this: http://keepass.info/
  4. Did you set your system to Japanese System Locale before you installed the games?
  5. Hmmm...terrified of earthquakes.
  6. So the Megatokyo VN is being made with a budget similar to Japanese titles. I'm very interested to see what the results will be.
  7. Yes. Apparently my self-restraint was no match for your malevolent and cunning mind…Owls :3
  8. Down is right, Muv-Luv and Macross are sci-fi. Grisaia is not fantasy either. My picks are Ah! My Goddess (urban fantasy) Red River (historical fantasy) and Orange Marmalade for paranormal stuff. Honorable mention to Blood Alone.
  9. 5 million Gmail passwords have been leaked by Russian hackers. List can be downloaded here - https://forum.btcsec.com/index.php?/topic/9426-gmail-meniai-parol/ http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/consumer-security/gmail-passwords-leak-online-but-you-may-not-need-to-panic-20140910-10f872.html People might want to check to see if they need to change passwords.
  10. You need one of these: I rolled for you though - number 7 is "Fate's" suggestion.
  11. This site is useful for checking to see if you've missed any old stuff http://tss.asenheim.org/ Nukige is mixed in though.
  12. If you check Okami's corresponding list you'll find out which VN was released in 1988 - https://forums.fuwanovel.net/index.php?/topic/3473-complete-list-of-all-english-translated-vns/ Not a bad list or graph. However Okami's list misses some of the older VNs translated, especially from the 90s, so the curve isn't quite as pronounced as the graph suggests. Things like True Love or Seasons of Sakura. It also includes VN hybrids (I'm being nice here) translated by official companies and promoted under different genres. Games like Phoenix Wright. But overall it shows a general trend. The emergence of Sekai Project will only add to the number of titles. It would be nice if this increased awareness in the West translated into more support for the industry.
  13. Heh Anyways, I have never ‘headbanged’ to anything in my life, and I never will either
  14. I was going to sympathise with the fella, but then...
  15. Yeah, that’s rubbish. Nowhere in the definition of ‘maturity’ does it say ‘always refrains from letting their hair down.’ You don’t know a person very well until you actually live with them, and unless you’re close friends with everybody in the school I very much doubt you know these people well enough to judge them. They may appear immature, wild, and emotional, but people look like a lot of things. Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if things were always as they appeared to be? I knew of someone in high school, on drugs, partying, very wild and loud, had plenty of talent as a musician though. I thought what an immature person this person was, she was throwing her (considerable) talent away because of her lack of maturity. Not long afterward she committed suicide. Turned out she came from a very abusive family, she wasn't immature but distressed. Very sad. Another person I knew who regularly flaunted the law as a teenager is now a very respectable policeman, because at the end of the day people build character by getting out of their comfort zones, experiencing new things and forging relationships. These form new pathways in the brain, these activities lead to maturity. People don't grow as individuals by locking themselves in their rooms (says 'Rooke the hermit' who surrounds himself with books...) @MetalUpa: Yeah, school can be a fairly brutal time. It’s one of the most inefficient and pointless institutions which currently exists, and it totally refuses to change or modernise so it’s quickly losing relevancy. It also punishes those who can’t network or build relationships effectively. That being said, don’t try and rush through life. Is there any reason you are desperate to get into a relationship right now? Especially when you don’t value the people around you. Is there any reason you’re desperate to go to the school dance? For what reason and purpose? Is there any tangible benefit to participating in this event? Besides a small boost in pleasure, and satisfaction at being included in a crowd you don’t have much respect for? Regarding your inability to connect with people, you may have to do a bit of searching. Visit anime conventions or something, that kind of thing. If there's nobody around you that connects with you, that just means you have to look harder. Despite what a lot of youngsters think you're not an individual, there are plenty of other people like you around, you just may have to search a little. Regarding your neighbourhood, that doesn't sound like such a bad place to live. It would be worse if you had abusive neighbours, that's when you have real problems. If you think they're fake, concentrate on building up your skills and don't associate with them so much. Avoid the abusive relationships though, they're not very good for you. Don't be so desperate to be in a relationship that you'll put up with it either. You're very young, you have your whole life ahead of you. Just concentrate on getting through this period, and establishing a clear path forward.
  16. Once more, a difference in interests. Maturity has nothing to do with not going to parties, having sex or drinking alcohol. Maturity means being measured in the activities you take part in, being responsible, thinking before you act, taking responsibility. It is possible to be mature and take part in most of these things. I went to a few parties when I was a teenager, very loud, not my thing. That doesn't mean I was more mature than anybody else, I wasn't, it DID mean I didn't like loud parties.
  17. It's more likely that you have different interests, different philosophies etc etc.
  18. I was going to post an example, but the offending screenshot has been removed from Steam. Either that or it's mysteriously vanished. How very interesting... And yes, it was quite bad. Anyway, the remaining screenshots should be enough to raise suspicions. "The conversation continued with her topic" is awkwardly phrased, and there's something very wrong in the screenshot about rabbits (besides the mixed tenses I mean.) I can't tell what it is without context, only that something definitely isn't right.
  19. There's about a billion possible causes for insomnia, including using your iphone/ipad/computer just before you go to bed (the light messes with your circadian rhythm), your circadian rhythm could be out of phase (which means your body is telling you to stay awake at night and go to sleep during the day,) you're drinking stimulating drinks before trying to go to sleep (like tea,) or you're stressed. It should be noted that just because you spend the day tired and the night awake doesn't mean your circadian rhythm is out of kilter. Insomnia is a disease rapidly on the rise, and because there are so many causes you're by far the best person to diagnose the cause. Which means doing a bit of work analysing your life. Have fun :3
  20. The art is nice, but it doesn't look to be well translated. If this is indeed the case then I won't be able to enjoy it. It's a shame.
