  1. Uh-uh. No way. I don't think so
  2. I've been getting into New Age recently.
  3. If you love story heavy games, Japanese RPGs, and you are limited to the PC, then you should definitely try 'Trails in the Sky'. I can't recommend it enough.
  4. Currently reading World War Z

  5. I'll try shounen anime but usually they're not to my taste. I do like Rurouni Kenshin and Hajime no Ippo, and also Tenchi (I think that's considered shounen.) Is Trigun shounen or seinen? But these series aren't ongoing. And I've tried reading One Piece. It wasn't for me.
  6. The problem with "Long Live the Queen" is there is no was to predict what skills you need to survive. It greatly reduces the tactical aspect of the game, and greatly increases trial and error. And trial and error is boring. If they fix this, the game would be okay. Dying a lot because a game is difficult is perfectly fine, but dying a lot because a game hides information is just annoying. As a sim, it's nowhere near as good as... say Academagia (just my opinion here )
  7. Incredibly informative interview. Top fella. Obviously worth supporting.
  8. Hmmm...Being annoying, resurrecting old topics, Activity level of users, possessing an excessive avatar and having a strong will? I think you’ll find that none of these are bannable offences. Derailing and off-topicness is, but that rule has been (until recently) inconsistently applied. Regarding your issue with him whining to the forum, the topic was started as a question to the anonymous ones who submitted complaints. A perfectly legitimate topic. Considering his question was based off an incorrect imterpretation of the warning Steve gave him, an analysis was only natural.
  9. If the OP doesn't mind OELVNs then Icebound fits the requirements. It has some minor puzzle gameplay but nothing too major.
  10. The problem with this is that “not being a dick” and things which are “annoying” are subjective experiences. A number of people, for example, think lolis are annoying as fuck. What would happen if they grouped together to send a hundred complaints to the staff team every day? There’s also a … “certain pairing” on these forums who think it’s fun to have identical avatars and signatures. I personally find that VERY distracting when they post one after another. Either allow .gifs or not. This ‘subjective’ thing has drama written all over it.
  11. Looks 'bitchin'
  12. I've been banned on other forums, and the reason is clearly relayed. No confusion. This whole saga has obviously resulted in confusion on the person being banned, but more importantly has inflicted that default avatar on the majority of the forum for many days now. Change your avatar please!
  13. Considering he was warned for his behaviour AND his avatar... no. It's not. It's obviously resulted in much confusion. It doesn't come off as a minor side affair. Not everyone has access to the staff forum where these things are discussed.
  14. It's a long overdue, but welcome sight.
  15. Did he make the reason you were banned clear? And I'm familiar with their inconsistent application of the derailing rule. I had received a few complaints that people were warned for derailing via PM, and yet there was this giant topic in the fan-translation forum...
  16. Then like Sanada said before, the reason behind a banning should be expressed clearly. Because reading Steve's post, the majority of it was dealing with Sanada's inappropriate avatar... with a couple of sentences down the bottom dealing with inappropriate behaviour. Also, a staff member shouldn't be threatening Sanada with regard to his avatar in the first place. Maybe another staff member would have dealt with the pertinent matters at hand. And no, Steve gets no slack-cutting from me.
  17. The forum isn't a democracy, and it's Tay's forum. Not Steve's.
  18. Look Sanada, just change your avatar already. If you get banned for it, and I don’t think you will, then take it up with Tay. Distracting avatars are not ban-worthy offences, nor are they grounds for requesting a user change their avatar. If .gifs are not to be used, an amendment to the forum rules is necessary. If Steve took the matter up with you because users found it ‘distracting’, then he was abusing his power. But he is no longer an admin (thank God) and so you can feel free to ignore his concerns.
  19. Are you sure that's what you were banned for?
  20. Too distracting... yeah, that's not a problem with your avatar. Also if the mods have a problem with .gifs being used as an avatar, a post in the forum rules section would be very helpful. Were there really complaints over a yellow square? Ahaha.
  21. Fire Emblem is a tactical RPG. People who subscribe to VNDB's definition of a visual novel would say the game has 'visual novel elements' if it contains a 'novel narrative', which I don't think Fire Emblem does. And thank you, this confusion regarding the definition of a VN reminds me that I need to complete something I started a while ago.
  22. Engine development is one of the areas which has been killing the Japanese gaming industry. Unlike Western development, Japanese gaming studios tend to spend a long time making a new engine for each game they make, and then abandoning it. Konami created a powerful new engine for MGS4, then never used it again. This is incredibly inefficient and costs a boat-load of time and money (although Konami are finally getting the idea with their new Fox engine.) Final Fantasy XIII has been a welcome exception, where they used the same engine for all 3 games substantially reducing the development time for the later 2. However, mucking around with the engine is part of the reason for the massive development time behind FFXV. Not to mention Japanese Game developers find it much more difficult to licence 3rd party engines. Compare that to the West where Bioware licenced the Unreal Engine for their Mass Effect games, Borderlands uses the Unreal engine, Bioshock uses the unreal engine, XCOM uses the unreal engine, Gears of war uses the unreal engine, Wasteland 2 uses Unity, the Witcher 1 uses Aurora. Modding existing engines is where the West's PC background provides an advantage. Anything which shortens development time for Japanese studios is a good thing. Spending ages building an engine from scratch when it's not needed is throwing money down the drain.
  23. That's certainly the reason I voted the way I did
