Heh, I'm not good at concrete english definitions. But great, then they indeed planned to localize Supipara 1-2 in five years, curious. The formula is probably called "let's randomly add to the sum little by little so we could announce both chapters at different conventions". But then again, even if we disregard baseless conspiracy theories, I believe by now it's pretty clear that this didn't work out as "a very transparent way for them to track their minori profits and the viability of translation of future Minori titles". Literally noone understands how it works, noone really wants to explain, as a result the numbers in our minds never add up, and even you assume that part of the profits most likely goes elsewhere which kills the whole point of such "transparency". Minori are ready to create a whole new big project because of the western Eden sales, but at the same time those together with disc Ef and Supipara Ch. 1 sales are nearly not enough to even fund a poor single Supipara localization.

Ouch, sorry, I should learn to read the small text, forgive the poor blind man.

Nothing on the site indicates that and I find it impossible to believe that with at least 60k-70k sold copies of Eden alone they'd be sitting at 180k gross. Eden has never been sold for a dollar. Maybe, but there's no indication of that either, so I doubt it. But it's interesting that their pretty much best-selling "serious" (i. e. not educational nippon or small Higurashi episode) game ever can't even fund a localization of the at best medium-sized Visual Novel. Either MG sits with millions of debt by now then, or, considering Doddler's "some localizations break even at three digits", minori are just that expensive to work with. I don't know which one is more scary.

No, I can easily imagine spending 200k on a relatively small title if they seriously pay for every single cent of that localization only with clean profits from other minori games. But considering how even the completely unexpected huge runaway success of Eden didn't get this funded, you can only question their sanity for why they didn't ask only for the part of the sum like Kickstarters usually do. Those get at best 80-90k when you deduct all the costs. And what if Eden sold only what was expected of it? Did they want to fund supipara 1-2 in five years? Not to mention I have a nudging feeling we don't see real numbers since they clearly want it funded "just in time" for another convention like the last time. It's a single not even lengthy release in 2 chapters, they are asking for 200. They heavily implied it. It's borderline false advertising if they spend Eden profits elsewhere. Then there was no point to begin with. Eden is popular due to a string of random events, supipara is not. Let's say Eden suddenly gives them another 400k but they use them on Trinoline instead because Supipara proved to be unprofitable with the first chapter. Sounds like a complete farce when you put it that way, doesn't it. It's something as close as they could possibly think of. It's also a stimuli to make people buy more and earlier. I realize that I sound way too negative for the situation at hand but this pseudocrowdfund is mildly annoying and kinda useless at this point.

I'm still shocked they ask 200k of "clean" money for a localization of a relatively small game. Just how much would they demand for a new chapter of such a high-budger vn? A million?

Finally here, Himawari -The Sunflower- released

I don't believe that EU, which doesn't even have its own space program for crew vehicles outside hopelessly underdeveloped ESA which main goal is still unmanned orbit observation, would suddenly overtake the most technologically advanced country in the field. If there's anything Russia excels at, it's rockets, even US is still nowhere near and is forced to buy russian engines on the regular basis. But if you just don't like hearing the word "Russia", I'd also rather bet on China, to be honest. -

Because it should have been clear from the very beginning that I'm in no mood to argue why killing might be bad or how your disagreement with character conclusions or emotions are no plotholes (not to forget that I'm yet to play Asuka's route). Though I do agree that by 2050 Russia would also definitely land on the moon, what a disregard for the great space exploring country, almost ruined the game for me. But your random recitation is at least entertaining enough (even if sometimes in dire need for a real argumentation of whys, or it feels like you want your opponent to do all the work for you) for me to immaturely post sly jabs instead which doesn't paint me in a very enviable light, as that nice guy pointed out. You don't have to mind me, maybe I'll get back to you after finishing the game. -

I have nothing to prove, really, plus you just pointed out yourself how at the very least half (and actually almost every single one) of your critique is subjective gibberish. There are no plotholes in your post, at best you are complaining about several cliches and exaggerations which of course makes you a big expert on writing. Himawari is no masterpiece but your post is just too much to seriously look at. -

Yes, because obviously the values of the nitpicking guy's are. Which pretty much what all of his "critique" is, "muh values are better, GO is stupid", almost none of it has anything to do with writing like he claims so it's plain silly to even seriously argue with him. But it's always nice to know there are decent enough guys to defend him, you've done well. -

Yeaaaaaah, because spending an hour refuting void lecture about morals, menolikes and unfunny jokes is apparently exactly what I enjoy doing while driving to work. But it's not like I don't approve of your approach, I just wanted to bring fireworks to complete the picture. -

That's quite a nice nitpicking festival you are having, I'm almost tempted to bring fireworks. -
NEKOPARA OVA KICKSTARTER IN 2 DAYS!!!
novurdim replied to *anoyoruniyakusokushita's topic in Visual Novel Talk
No. But you can back dies irae if you want. -
Last year they specifically pointed out that their top ten doesn't count steam sales. Those simply weren't accounted for at all so in reality Eden was first with quite a gap when you actually add steam numbers.
-
Yurirei (Kindred Spirits, 8 place) is not exactly a nukige either. PS/ ah, wait, by "feat" you probably mean getting into top ten several years in a row. Okay then.
-
I want Evenicle more than any Rance
-
Pretty sure BBH is nowhere near Yurirei in overall sales lol

HAS SUMIKKO SOFT GONE BANKRUPT??? OR SOMETHING??

They make super insanely best-selling vns (rather short and cheap to boot) and then ask people to fund the ova? Do I need to point out how unpleasant that sounds? -
I'll ask you a single thing: was DC III, perhaps, the only visual novel you have ever heard of from mangagamer? I almost feel personally offended when someone compares MG to other existing players like Sekai or JAST and then call them pathetic because they are somehow too slow. DC III and Himawari are almost exceptions by now for the modern MG and the latter wasn't even their fault. I'm at a loss for words. Do you even understand that Dies translation has started a very long time ago and is nearly complete, the only reason they will release it so soon is because the localization itself has been revealed extremely late in the game. You know, with how you think that translation begins only after the formal announcement, MG has released Rance even faster than Dies!

And while it's somewhat nitpicky, I too feel that throwing the events that far into the future wasn't needed, it feels like 2030~ at best. -
"Re: Sharin no Kuni Project" Kickstarter preview page is up
novurdim replied to trickzzter's topic in Visual Novel Talk
True, even if obviously not a key difference, it still was a very nice bonus, kudos to muv luv team for always readily promoting new vn kickstarters.
