  1. Nope, this is a pretty great translation, especially if the word is used in the humorous context.
  2. Honestly, it's almost the same as asking if Linkoln really fought vampires like in the movie.
  3. so did it or did it not, mate
  4. Have voted for Ouka Sabaki, Evolimit and Amatsutsumi.
  5. Obvious things are obvious, yes. Noone is judging anyone though, literally the only thing that was said is: if he, for some reason, decides to drop his work or put it on an indefinite hold, then he should communicate it to the people who all wish him well and don't really demand anything besides clarity.
  6. Exactly the answer I expected. No, I'm absolutely not entitled, he made himself responsible before the community as a whole and not me personally, even your "free" actions have their price and your good intentions can bring harm when your moral compass doesn't really work. Noone else will try to translate it when you do, many people become depressed from time to time because of the lack of closure etc etc. Negative connotations are obvious and when you can alleviate them by literally spending ten minutes of your precious time then you're obviously in the wrong. The fact that he's such a nice guy who maybe decided to work on the game for free only means that noone can demand any kind of result from him, not that he's free from any moral obligation of going public.
  7. Of course he has to tell when he's dropping a finished translation or he shouldn't have made it public to begin with. The only time when you have no responsibilities in a society is when you have no influence over other people and community. Though if you want to argue an exact word then maybe "owing" is not really the right one, it's more a question of a basic human decency. Do you "owe" anyone to not be an ashhole? No, not really. Is it still important to not be one in a society? Absolutely.
  8. Thank you, my captain obvious friend, but that's exactly why I mentioned january 2017 when its lowest price was around 9-10$ at the several steam sales with the fundraiser at around 170k$ and not january 2018. If you count it now then it has already sold around 120-140k copies thanks to the 2$ pricing at this christmas sale and HB. On steam alone and Eden only. And, as I mentioned, eden from mg store, physical Ef and Supipara ch.1 are also included in the fundraiser. From your logic, their gross profit from the 60k steam copies for Eden at its prime and unknown supipara ch.1, eden (mg store edition) and Ef physical sales were around 170k$. If it's true then I doubt the sanity of a man who expected to fund the new supipara games when the MG's profits from one of the biggest runaway successes in the company's history was barely enough to fund a localization of an existing relatively short novel. I'm... not quite sure where did this come from. I know this, as you can imagine. That's why I've said that they can do and write anything on their site with literally noone to control them, it's not an indication of anything. I don't, I just find it hard to believe that they expected every game to sell at the very least 50k-100k copies. We even talk about MangaGamer, the guys who were the most pessimistic about the longevity of the mainstream VN boom in the west. Either way, I'm pretty sure that by now it's nothing more than a primitive bait to boost the initial sales of the Supi2 and Trinoline. Even if Trinoline sells 80k-100k copies at the start, which seems to be required, noone is silly enough to spend the profits on a series that has bombed in both Japan and West.
  9. I like MG but the whole thing with Supipara has been pretty shady from the very beggining, we don't even know just how much from the sales is actually added to the fundraiser, as we've already tried to count here a year ago, the current status never really adds up. Not to mention that Eden is an extremely supersuccesful game by the MG standards that has sold more than 60k copies on steam alone by january 2017 (and unlike now, a year ago it wasn't sold for a dollar and had never been featured in humblebundle) and surprised even them. But the fundraiser is still that far from being completed. I can't imagine they expected Eden to sell even better so what was the point? And supipara ch. 1, eden from MG store plus physical Ef sales are supposed to be accounted for in that number too? By now it's likely that they are either completely manipulating the number to take it to the goal when it's convenient for them or are just leaving it there to boost the sales of supipara ch.2 and Trinoline. Some people are much more likely to buy those day 1 for the full price if it's for some kind of goal. It's not kickstarter, noone controls mangagamer and their fundraiser.
  10. Honestly couldn't agree more. The whole list would become a joke.
  11. I just wish that someone would take nitro+ away from JAST...
  12. Hrm, maybe it would be better to simply create an "alternative" list which doesn't include vns from the original 50?
  13. According to KS, the 4:3 amentes hasn't even been developed yet.
  14. Doujinshi are usually not really "free stuff" though, especially the original ones, scanlating them and putting up for free is essentially not any different from piracy. Not that I'm preaching, just wanted to make sure you don't think that fakku are charging for "free stuff". Well, those who care often say that modern VN's prose is pretty bad, except for a handful of writers, so there's that. I've even seen several people mention that something like Hapymaher may actually become better in that regard after the translation.
  15. I like how the idea of paying for stuff has never even crossed your mind lol to suddenly learn that copyrights matter in Japan even more
  16. We don't, you highly overestimate average vns in the West, selling 500 or 3000 is a huge difference and a matter of success for them. No, that's exactly the point: until a certain point steamspy numbers are completely random so it could have just as well sold 300 copies, steamspy can't decently track small numbers. I'm not sure where the numbers are from but yes, absolutely. IMHHW is an anomaly, the first and only real vn on steam for so long. Nowadays the market is oversaturated to hell so they would never get close to IMHHW even with the 18+ intact. Not really, I remember MG staff saying (probably in their annual summary?) that their games are usually selling significantly better on steam.
  17. So we can just as well assume that sfos has sold 2645 units while evangile fandisk only 500. And then it's a success. Really, steamspy is as useless as it gets until the game has sold at least 5k, Galyonkin himself noted it numerous times.
  18. True, but they are not the smartest bunch and probably just didn't think about it.
  19. Well, it's probably the "ingenious" way not to let people to apply the patch to the f2p version and unlock the full 18+ game for free? If you've completed one of the routes, you clearly had to buy the game. It's just one amazing turn after another with this patch.
  20. Well, with how people decribe them, at the very least those
  21. Likely not. Though that probably may change if the translation is suddenly decent and nothing else is missing except the H-scenes so people won't have to work on it that much. Still, it's astounding how sure everyone is that there'll be a fan patch lol
