Which VN character(s) have your favorite character development?
Dergonu replied to Rose's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Think I´d have to say Michiru from Grisaia no Kajitsu. Also, both Haruka and Sion from Eden*. Love how their personalities and priorities change throughout the story. -
Thanks for the suggestions. Oh I completely forgot but I have played Katahane. (Loved it!!) I´ll update the original post to change that.

I have a lot of heavy and long VNs lined up now, and so I figured it would be good to have something light to play once in a while to take a small break from all the psychological stuff. I´m looking for light Yuri romances. Slice of life romance stuff would be the best, though something with some light story aspects is fine. Nothing too heavy though. (if there even is a heavy Yuri VN out there.) It doesn't necessarily have to be short; I can just play it a little bit at a time. So far the only Yuri games I´ve played is : Sono hanabira ni kuchizuke o 1 and 6, (The Nanami x Yuuna ones.) and Katahane. (So NOT 1 TO 6, but only 1 and 6, which is the Nanami and yuuna storyline.) Preferably something translated, though thats not required. Thanks!

Haha, yeah. I realize if I was to binch read this entire list I´d probably end up emotionally scarred for life. Thanks for all the recommendations. Seems like G-Senjo No Maou is a good place to start.

So to sum up this though… If I am to play the original first, then play the new version when it comes out, I get the original H-Scenes and the new CG and events. The only casualties are my wallet and free time! xD

Yeah I did donate to the kickstarter actually. Kind of want the new version if I´m going to play it, so G-Senjou no Maou is what I´m going with. Completely forgot that when I made the list xD Think its gonna be G-Senjou no Maou - Planetarian - Clannad and then we´ll see after that. Awesome to hear that Muv-luv is that good though. Kind of donated on a whim. Wasn't really sure if it was going to be good or not. Going by your comment I won't regret it! The kickstarter version is going to be the ps3 version, which is all-ages thus heavily censored, I recommend reading the original version. For me its my only perfect 10, its broke me to pieces, took me on an emotional roller coaster and made me stand up out of my chair, go outside and contemplate life quite a few times. (I still donated to the kickstarter tho.) Ahh right. Ok. That darn censor-kun. thanks for letting me know. Think I´ll def read the originals then. I´ll be sure to dive into that during a vacation, so I have time to enjoy it. 100+ hours is a lot. But it sounds like its worth it!

Yeah thats true. Damn, really sold that one. Sounds awesome. Question, should I get the RAW and install the translation patch, or is the steam version fine? Think I heard there were some problems with the steam release somewhere. EDIT: Yeah that was the thread on this forum about the CG being cropped... RAW it is.

So here is the list of VN´s I have been recommended, and I´m torn. Which one should I start reading first? Kind of a big jumble of different genres and I´ve heard they are all amazing so I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions? Prefer if you give a short reason as to why you think that one is the one I should pick first Clannad Chaos;Head G-Senjou no Maou Kara no Shoujo Planetarian Rewrite Muv-Luv

Looks awesome! Just got it. ;D Catgirls!!!

My cousin got me Grisaia no Kajitsu and said "You HAVE to play this!" Aaaand yeah, that´s basically all it took. In retrospect it wasn't exactly the lightest novel to start with, but its still my favorite. Though I was so depressed when I got the bad Makina ending. I wasn't quite sure how it worked then, so I thought that was the like, "real" ending. I was totally depressed a while afterwards.

Thank you very much. Yeah I think my biggest problem has been that I got used to getting physical editions, and started looking for those. I have no problem with digital editions, so I´ll try to look for that instead. I really don't like using proxies after my friends ISP blocked him for using one. I actually haven't tried the Japanese version of DLsite. I´ll give that a go. Appriciate the fast reply. By proxy I mean using a middleman to order the physical product for you, not an internet proxy. Ahh of course, hehe, my bad. Well I´ll look into those sites for some digital copies, thanks again for the links and info.

So basically, so far I´ve been getting my VNs from either DLsite, Denpasoft / steam etc. for translations, and then the rest, for RAWs, has been bought in Japan by my cousin who goes there fairly frequently. But recently he got a new job so he does´t go there nearly as often, and I´m left with what feels like a fairly limited market for VNs, especially when it comes to RAWs. I know most sites I´ve visited usually won't sell their game to foreigners, so you have to order it in from some 3rd party in Japan and have it shipped over to you, which makes it extremely expensive. There has been like one site that had the option for a digital download that you could supposedly could buy from Europe, but there I encountered some problems with using a foreign credit card on the site not working. Basically, to get to the point: Is there any site or option that I´ve missed that is available for foreigners that allows us to buy RAWs without having to pay 4-5x the price? I´m not really in a rush to get any new VNs at the moment; I already have a couple I´m reading and got quite a few good recommendations that I´m looking into getting as well but… I figured for the future it would be good to know. Any site for translated works and such that I haven't mentioned is also appreciated. I had a list somewhere with a bunch but a hardrive crash claimed its life. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Wow this really surprised me … I´ve gotten such good impression of Sekai Project. I had no idea they, or even just people affiliated with them, would sink this low. The cropping itself, alright, maybe a little sloppy; I´m sure they had their reasons for it, but the unprofessional behavior though… Damn. This really sucks.

I'm at a lost for words... (HuniePop discussion)
Dergonu replied to sarayne's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Ahaha, I´m kind of ashamed to say I have like 20 hours + in this game at least xD Found it extremely entertaining. Mainly because I got completely addicted to the puzzles and the completely idiotic interactions and writing. There is actually a lot of hidden content that you can spend half your life unlocking, and then there is an alpha mode at the end that is like, seriously difficult. Although the game is… Well, stupid, its actually very entertaining. (God, did I just recommend this game to people? … *facepalm*) -
かわいい! Thank you very much Appreciate it. Thanks for the warm welcome and the recommendations everyone!

Thanks ;D I have not, so thanks for the recommendation! Currently reading Eden*, loving it so far. I´ll look into it after I´m done!

はしめまして! (Gonna do the rest in English, because I´m sure I´ll screw up halfway and that would be totally embarrassing.) Anyways, nice to meet you all, my name is Andreas, I´m a big VN and anime fan from Norway. I just recently joined this forum and figured I´d go ahead and introduce myself. I am 20 years old and have been studying Japanese in my spare time the past 6 months. So far I´m still very bad at kanji, so I take ages getting through untranslated VNs, but I still feel comfortable enough with my skill that I CAN do it… Albeit slowly. I haven't read that many VNs yet, only about 12-15 I think, and a few of those were fandisks and sequels. I personally enjoy stuff with some form of romance in it, though it doesn't have to be the primary aspect of the story. Still, I won't say no to a nice slice of life VN/ anime either. My favorite VN so far is Grisaia no Kajitsu, with Kono oozora ni, tsubasa o hirogete coming in close second. Favorite character is Kotori from Kono oozora ni… She is just way too cute. I guess thats about it! よろしくおねがいします!

Your biggest turn-offs in visual novels?
Dergonu replied to CeruleanGamer's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Oh, that made me think of another turn-off. Well, less of a turn-off and more of an extreme annoyance: Side heroines who are much better than the actual heroines that don't get actual routes, even in the inevitable fandisk. Agree to both of these. Some common routes are simply too long and filled with too much unnecessary stuff that doesn't help the plot at all. It feels like a lot of it is there just to make the game longer. And there is always that one char that is awesome, but doesn't get her own route. So annoying *sigh* (Akari in kono oozora ni, tsubasa o hirogete for instance) -

Your biggest turn-offs in visual novels?
Dergonu replied to CeruleanGamer's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Wait wait… Whoa! Slice of life is so awesome. Pure romance is also great. Combine them and you get Kono oozora ni, tubasa o hirogete. H-Scenes making you drop VNs? Damn. For me its been the other way around. (Not literally, but almost. Not sure if I should be proud of that or not.) -
Your biggest turn-offs in visual novels?
Dergonu replied to CeruleanGamer's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Haha, yeah this thread really is gold. I actually thought of one more thing. Basically, everything involving… peeing. Its just … no. I remember one particular scene in soon hanibara ni kuchizuke o that just weirded me the hell out. -
50 translated VNs you should read before you die
Dergonu replied to Kaguya's topic in Recommendations
Recently started Katahane and man you were not wrong. Its so awesome. It took me a few hours of reading to get used to the art though. But yeah the story is great.
